Different styles for breadcrumbs and account/login/shopping cart links?

I don't want the breadcrumbs links to use the same styles as the account/login/shopping cart links. By default, they both use the headerNavigation style. I went into header.php and changed the style for the breadcrumbs to headNavigation and then created that style in stylesheet.css. However, it isn't being applied. Is there some place else I need to change this? Thanks.
