91crxsi
I would like to set osCommerce to display at full screen no matter the resolution of the displaying monitor. This seems to be the standard of most web sites now. How is this done? If i need to enter code. Where does it go? Sorry but i'm new to this. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks 91crxsi

91crxsi
I am in the process of designing and configuring my storefront. When I go to my storefront it is presently centered in the browser window but doesn't fill the entire screen. I have a 21" LCD that display's standard 1680*1050 resolution (many other people are now using higher resolutions also). I believe the standard viewable resolution for osCommerce is 800*600 resolution. What I would like to do is have my storefront fill the entire screen no matter the resolution. A good many sites are doing this as standard now. It is more pleasing to the eye as the customer gets to see more content (or more stretched content) giving the store a not so cramped feel on higher resolutions. I have read some posts related to what I am describing but find the answers to those posts rather confusing and very technical. I have read that to have the site fill the entire screen one must set some settings in some configuration files from "px" to "%". I have yet to be able to find the correct settings in my config files to be able to do this. Please remember I am completely new to this as a newby. Does this shead more light on what I am asking? Thanks I thought that was the default setting? What does your site look like now. Post a link.
Wendy James
Standard osCommerce fills the entire screen. It does not have a set width. Are you using a template purchased from somewhere? My resolution is 1600x1200 and unless the site is specified then it fills the whole screen. Personally I prefer set widths so you know what everyone browsing your site will see, but others like them to adjust. Anyhow, as was said, osCommerce does not come set up as a set width. 91crxsi
I purchased a template from a website selling osCommerce templates. To my understanding, I guess my template has been set to a particular width. Is this correct? If so, then how do I set it back to the default setting (no set width)? Where would I look for this setting? Thanks Standard osCommerce fills the entire screen. It does not have a set width. Are you using a template purchased from somewhere? 91crxsi
Thanks for the assistance wendyjames. I finally figured out where to look for the configuration based on your last reply. My template was purchased and so it was manually set for a set width of "766" pixels. I set it to "100%" and it is now doing what I want it to do. Thanks again I purchased a template from a website selling osCommerce templates. To my understanding, I guess my template has been set to a particular width. Is this correct? spax
Basically, anywhere in your code you see a table with a width attribute, e.g. <table width="760"> You need to change it to: <table width="100%"> But this will probably break your layout completely, at wide resolutions. If there are indivdual cells with a width attribute like: <td width="150"> They will stay the same size. If you do change it, I would copy the entire site first. That way if it looks terrible, you can go back to what you had before.
