mattih5
Hi, I've installed OSCommerce as per instructions, but I keep getting this error: Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /kunden/homepages/31/d155015431/htdocs/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file. I have set the permissions to 777, is this correct? Funkybunny
644 is ok, edit includes/application_top.php file. // set which precautions should be checked define('WARN_INSTALL_EXISTENCE', 'true'); define('WARN_CONFIG_WRITEABLE', 'false'); define('WARN_SESSION_DIRECTORY_NOT_WRITEABLE', 'true'); define('WARN_SESSION_AUTO_START', 'true'); define('WARN_DOWNLOAD_DIRECTORY_NOT_READABLE', 'true');
jasonabc
you need to set the config file to 444. Try using the File Manager from your Hosting Control Panel - FTP doesn't always work with file permissions. MrPhil
644 is ok It depends on your server setup. If PHP is running as "owner" (you), 644 still allows osC to overwrite the file, so you will get the message. In that case you need 444. If PHP is running as "group" or "other/world", 644 is fine -- in either case, osC only has read-only access to the file. Read my sig > FAQs > Proper Permissions.
