How to remove the number of products listed

Hi guys i know this must be easy for some, however, can someone tell me how to remove the number of products listed in each of the items.

 

for exampe cases (21) ie there are 21 cases listed in this category. I just want to list it as cases, i don't want to show 21.

also while on this subject i have the categories listed as a drop down box, is there anyway to remove this categories list? I prefer to have the categories box as a drop down menu to save more space.

In the admin area under the configuration settings for My Store, there is a setting called "Show Category Count" set that to false.
