Easy Populate & Products Attributes

Recommended Posts

Thanks,

I posted it elsewhere (in ocCommerce Support) but you told me to post it here. I didn't think it was given a difinitive answer. I thought End of row was really end of row, like: //, rem, # depending on what language it would not lok anyfurther in that row. Thank you however for clearing it up.

The two columns are used in a concatenate staement in excel, they "merge" the mfg code as a prefix infront of the model number to keep separation between products. Now I have another problem on how to delete those columns without losing the mreged formula.

Thanks again,

KJ

I'm about to give up... I've been searching where the problem could be but I wasn't lucky.

When I split and upload the database everything seems ok as I can see the information of all my extra fields, but whe I log into the catalog all my products display no information in their extra fields, only standard fields like name of product, price, etc... display the correct information.

Even through phpMyAdmin the information for the extra fields seems to have dissapeared or simply not been uploaded to the catalog as they appear blank.

Is that a problem of my easypopulate file?

I'm not sure anymore...

Please I need some urgent help!

try inserting 'null'

Thanks Mibble, can you confirm it is supposed to write the date when there is no field uploaded? (I commented out what you had posted a couple pages back and no change)

The only option to download an EP file with dates from the site to edit is the complete one, when I download the model,price, qty ep file and change what I need to then upload my site gets really screwed up..

Also one other question, I used EP previous releases and always had trouble with html even with the quotes on or off, has anything changed in the newest release I have now in respect to html? I didnt see anything in the change log about it. - When I upload descriptions with html the picture sizes get butchered with weird characters instead of numbers, and no pictures show up at all. If I take out the pic sizes from the html I can get it to upload somewhat properly but the pictures still do not show (no red x or anything) until I view the product in admin.

I found this code in the ep file

if ($v_date_added == '') {
 $v_date_added = "CURRENT_TIMESTAMP";
} else {
 // we put the quotes around it here because we can't put them into the query, because sometimes
 //   we will use the "current_timestamp", which can't have quotes around it.
 $v_date_added = '"' . $v_date_added . '"';
}

I think this answers my question, is there any way I can change it so that if date_added isnt in the upload it wont process this code? I may just comment this out entirely, will that cause any problems?

Hello I still have problems splitting.

I have the right permissions, everything seem to be properly installed in the admin. Also I am able to upload products before it times out.

However I am not able to split my files. I ensure to have the EOREOR at the end even tried 'EOREOR' and "EOREOR" is a tab delimited file. I can send you my file if anything

Thanks

I have the foders /catalog/temp/ both with permissions 777 and they are setup in the easypopulate.php file and yet it doesn't split. I don't know what else to do. I just need this to have my store going. Any help will be appreciated.

I have just started UPLOADING Products thru EASY POPULATE

My problem is :

There are 847 products in the EXCEL Sheet.

First time when I uploaded, in the admin, it showed 852 products and in the CATALOG, it showed 873 products

Now I just updated some pricing and uploaded, it shows :

In CATALOG - 955 products

in ADMIN - 907 products

how this just keeps incrementing > where am I wrong ?

Also how to clear all the products (empty it) and then load fresh ?

help plz

do you have everything in categories? in your category titles make sure there are no comma's.

are you wanting to eliminate all the products and do an upload via ep of all the data? if so follow this:

http://forums.oscommerce.com/index.php?showtopic=45037&st=0

this eliminates all customers, etc but leaves the configuration intact.

for splitting double check the easypopulate.php file and make sure the split is not commented out.

search the file for split and you will find the spot i am talking about.

I have a /magazin/temp/ folder, with 777 permissions.

After I added a leading slash, its work. Now I receive this error again.

What could be the problem?

With many thanks!!

Hello,

I don't want to be a pest, but can I send you a sample file to see if you can split it? I can't find anything wrong anywhere!!

Thanks

Ian

Mibble, when im uploading a file, it will only work properly when i use the function "Import from Temp Dir (temp/)", which means i need to ftp the text file to the temp dir and then copy and paste the filename into that function and insert...

However, when i try to use the function "Upload EP File" and then browse to the file, it gives me the following error message:

Warning: move_uploaded_file(C:/home/bwear/www/catalog/temp/EP2004Dec14-1402v3.txt): failed to open stream: Permission denied in C:\home\bwear\www\catalog\admin\easypopulate_functions.php on line 32

Any ideas? It would be nice to have the "Upload EP File" working properly just for all those clients that dont know how to ftp etc...

Thanks a lot man! Fair play to ya, your always online answering questions :)

means you dont have your temp file path set properly in your easypopulate.php file, what do you have setup for the path?

It's setup as this with chmod 666:

$tempdir = "temp/";

$tempdir2 = "temp/";

I tried changing the chmod to 777 but it wont, although i emailed my isp before and asked him to make sure it was 777 and even though he said it was, it was still showing up as 666. I think this was working before with all the same settings...

What does the part about easypopulate_functions.php mean? :blush:

Nah, its giving me the same error except with catalog//temp/ like so:

ok remove the first slash, if you cant move to that file then you have a file permission error, where it can not be written to, the permissions need to be 777 and with windows giving you that error doesnt seem like you have permissions to the temp directory

general question here

i've been messing with EP for most of the day now, it seems that certain chars are a big no no, ' etc..

my v_products_description_1 column has some big descriptions in there

got over 1900 products, what chars need to be excluded for everything to work ok

i have chars such as % & " in there, will these need changing?

thanks for any advice
