Easy Populate & Products Attributes

Recommended Posts

In fact, it seems to corrupt the data. I fixed all the price_prefixes in phpmyadmin, exported with easypop, then took the csv back in, and the errors returned. Is this the fist time anyone has mentioned this? Is there an easy way to export the price_prefix as an explicit field, instead of combining it with the number, as ep does now?

i dont know what you spreadsheet looks like, perhaps you could post a few lines or email them? i dont use the attributes section via ep, as it is not comprehensive enough for my attributes. rught now i have approximately 1600 individual attributes, which gives about 16000 different ways of doing things.

i do it with with a spread sheet, however generate the code for each item via excel.

Well, in the spreadsheet, there's not much to say, you have v_attribute_values_price_1_1, and a column of numbers underneath it, like so. Easypopulate gets that by combining price_1_1 with price_prefix, but doesn't give it back correctly, unfortunately. If I could set price_prefix myself in the spreadsheet, without ep interfering, my problem would be solved.

$attribute_values_price_prefix = ($$v_attribute_values_price_var < 0) ? '-' : '+';

this line of code is supposed to differentiate between positive and negative so looking at the code just before and after this, i am thinking there should be an extra column in here as the attributes price and prefix go into a separate table named products_attributes.

thus, what i would do is manually add a product attribute with a neegative dollar value, then download the sheet and see where it puts it. then, turn back around and upload the same sheet only changing the dollar value to half of what you originally entered, to see if it does in fact update the negative number to another negative number.

I am getting this error message with my upload. Please help! I have read through about 13 pages of questions, and have seen this question in some form or another, but no answers that work. Please help! The permissions are fine, 777. It states that the file is uploaded but I can't locate it.

Error message:

File uploaded.

Temporary filename: /home/content/t/a/m/tamekalawrence/data/phpuR1DWb

User filename: WorldofProducts.txt

Size: 59024

All of the different probs that others are having are starting scare me. I need to get this taken care of, but what other probs await after this fix?

if you browse back to about page 10 or so, you will find my easy populate php script which has additional fields, you can use that as a reference to yours and modify it respectively.

Thanks mate,

I'll check it out and seeif I can get it to work.

Cheers

Mary, that happens when there is some corruption in the first part of your file. you should look at it or if you wish you can send it to me via email.

My problem is now corrected. The next day when I retried to click on the links , it worked! I have no idea how it came right. Either IE was misbehaving or there was a problem on my pc. Thanks for offering to help. This is a great forum. :D

Warning: The downloadable products directory does not exist: /home/content/t/a/m/tamekalawrence/html/catalogdownload/. Downloadable products will not work until this directory is valid.

I am now getting this error message. I checked the catalog/download file exists. Help!

:huh: I'm having the same problem. I'm a osCommerce newbie.

My 'temp' directory is catalog/temp

Its attributes are chmod'ed to 777

I have uploaded the file using FTP

I can see the file with my FTP client (it too is 777 of course)

However I'm getting the dreaded:-

Warning: file(../temp/EP-up.txt): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in <my directory stuff>\easypopulate.php on line 672

I'm running V2.2M2 and Easy Populate 2.74-MS2 on IIS/5.0 with PHP Version: 4.3.3 (Zend: 1.3.0)

Any help for a new lost sole gratefully received.

Thanks for the quick response - but I'm not sure I understand the question. I didn't edit the definition of tempdir$ in easypopulate.php and, as the error message in my post shows PHP is constructing a path of '../temp/EP-up.txt'

I've not had problems before with IIS using / rather than \

Anyway I've just did a temp. Hack in easypopulate as a test, that constructs a microsoft path string (i.e. ..\temp\EP-up.txt) and the results are the same.

I can try this on an Apache site but I'll still need to get it working on this IIS site, so... I really appreciate any help.

A clue and some Progress - I've just put a temporary hack into easypopulate.php that supplies the $readed function with the full path and that worked (sort of). My next step will be to try to make a more realistic/maintainable mod.

But does this mean that I'm the first to try to use EasyPopulate on IIS 5

Thanks!! :D

Now i can upload with:

$tempdir='/catalog/temp/';

like you said...

Silly Me!! My first attempt was modify the tempdir vars, but without success.

Now, I know that 'easypopulate.php' only use the $tempdir variable (not the $tempdir2). I supposed, before, that in case the tempdir was not correct then locks for tempdir2. But it seems not to be that way.

I let tempdir and tempdir2 with the sames values, because maybe they will be used in a new updated EP contribution.

Thanks again, and still working in this great contribution. ;)

Sorry for my english... :rolleyes:

the directory needs to be /catalog/temp for the downloads and the properties need to be 777

I didn't direct EP to go to catalogdownloads, it did it by itself. I know the file needed to come from catalog/temp. I got rid of the other error I was getting by inserting the file directly from the temp dir on EP. That is when I got this error. So for some reason or another the comp is looking in catalogdownload for something.

Also, I don't know why it is catalogdownload instead of catalog/download. I added a folder named catalogdownload on the same level as catalog and I don't get any error, but I still can't find the file or product info on my site. Thanks John! Help!

Eric, i would believe so for the first on iis with easy populate, as there are lots of complications with running properly on microsoft products, i now some have gotten other things to work, but not everything.

what do you mean after the file is uploaded? is this after splitting and prior to importing into the database? the files will go to catalog/temp . . .

is your store in /catalog or is it in your root? could you send me a link to your store (post it in here).

this is what needs to be set properly

// **** Temp directory ****

// if you changed your directory structure from stock and do not have /catalog/temp/, then you'll need to change this accordingly.

//

$tempdir = "/temp/";

$tempdir2 = "/temp/";

if using catalog then /catalog/temp/

if store then /store/temp/

if in the root then as you have it

what do you mean after the file is uploaded?

I uploaded the(EasyPopulate file)WorldofProducts.txt without an error coming up. I imported it from the temp dir.

All it said was 'Filename: WorldofProducts.txt' at the top of the page. So, now what? Did it upload or not?

you will have to look in the temp folder to see if it is indeed there. are you trying to upload the products into the database? how many products are you trying to add?

did the products get added to the store? i am at a loss of what you mean by uploading, from the ep menu or via file manager?

I know the file is definitely in the temp folder. I am trying to upload 109 products into my store catalog. As far as the products being added to the store, I don't see them. That's my problem. I am uploading from the EP menu. There is an option to "Import from Temp Dir", I used that option.
