that is not the path for document_root, remove the /catalog/ and it is correct.

Mibble now I am confused!

Everything I have read on EP gives dire warnings about not using SDOCUMENT_ROOT in the statement. I thought that this actually had to be inserted in the statment

define('DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT', $DOCUMENT_ROOT);[/

Is this not the case? Can I use the amended definition?

Is the root that point from where all the installation commences?

Thank you

Alas, I have similar issue to others here - though for a while I had this running smooth so I know it works(worked) excellent :thumbsup:

This admin/configure.php did work before, I have made notes as to why some lines are defined as they are... note that I tried the $DOCUMENT_ROOT method but no new result

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'https://secureserver.webhost.com/~rooted/catalog'); // eg, http://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

catalog/admin/ easypopulate_functions.php Line 32 is like this here:

move_uploaded_file($filename['tmp_name'], $target);

catalog/admin/ easypopulate.php has these:

Line 670

$readed = file(DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT . $tempdir . $usrfl_name);

Line 693-694

foreach ($readed as $read){
$newreaded .= $read;

-I have verified admin/temp directory has full write permission

-I have attempted various settings for temp reference w/no success... the following is what I was using when the EP module worked well to have temp in admin for security purposes:

$tempdir = "/admin/temp/";
$tempdir2 = "/temp/";

*However I have now placed a catalog/temp reference just incase (with 0777 as my server setup requries for full write permissions - instead of 0755)

-My OSC setup is located on subdomain example for admin access: http://catalog.mywebsite.com/admin

-Despite trying my best to backup all files to be edited when installing new mods, as well as full backup of database... I was unable to restore this mod to the point of getting this back in order after installing On the Fly GD thumbnail contribution and PayPal Shopping Cart IPN (which has since been removed) Unfortunately I am not sure which of these threw off the EP since upload was not attempted after thumbnailer, my bad! Please have mercy - or a flashlight? cuz I'm now in tha dark!

Incase this is helpful in resolving, this error occurs after attempt to upload same inventory file that worked before. Downloading a backup still works great :)

Example of URL when this error occurs:

*I do not have split feature enabled that I am aware of.

After installing EP v2.78 I am trying to test it out, as instructed, and I was able to download the files but this is the message I get when trying to upload:

You don't have permission to access /onlinestore/catalog/admin/easypopulate.php on this server.

I have read through the forum and have tried the recommendations but none have worked for me. Not sure why it is only showing this portion of the path but...

Any ideas?

I have no idea where it states to not use $DOCUMENT_ROOT. if you read everywhere on here where i have discussed it, you are pointed to use $DOCUMENT_ROOT

oooooooooooooh sorry Mibble confusion reigns

I meant that I understood you had to use the the actual words "$DOCUMENT_ROOT" within the code and I did not understand if it was alright to use

define('DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT','/files/home3/xxxxxx');

In summary the question is can I use the last definition (ie with the deletion of /catalog/) with EP or do I have to somehow use the term "$DOCUMENT_ROOT"

Thank you Mibble - sorry for the confusion

Did you get it to work Nossum?

Mibble: Do you know what this problem cause:

When I add product via EP I cant find them?

I have managed to add Category, but not products?

Which file should I download to add products? (.txt file)

Afetr about 5 hours I found my problem but still not sure about the last rev of the this mod. It is supposed to be for people using Information Pages Unlimited but EP does not seem to recognize the new infobox format. Anyone else had an issue with this?

Success!

In my case (reposted below for you searchers) the errors were caused by my define of 'DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT' trying to use the shared SSL path. By changing this to path '/home/rooted/public_html/catalog' the connection was re-established and EP file loaded - YAY!! BTW, Same $tempdir settings were used (see below)

The reason $DOCUMENT_ROOT did not work for me is that it also generated a reference to the shared SSL path. I would prefer using the shared SSL but for now this will work.

Have a great day and 3 Cheers to Mibble for a wonderful (nearly mandatory) contribution!

ok so I have decided to use this contrib. to backup my product database so i can uninstall and reinstall a fresh preedited copy of Os 2.2.

My questions:

1. In the admin section under catalog I see "Utility Import Export." I click this and get this

"

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request"

What can I do to get this resolved and get my new database done and is this an alright way to do this?

PS. Woudl the Admin Access contrib effect this? Sry. if this has been answered but I tried seraching and read alot of this super long thread.

Got easy populate to work and uploaded around 5000 products to my site. Thanks for this awesome contribution. Since I uploaded all those products, Viewing the catalog structure on the admin side takes a long time load or will just time out and show nothing.. Is there a fix for this, or is all these products overwhelming oscommerce? This is all setup on my local test server. Is there any settings I can change in the php.ini or httpd.config file?

Apache config file.

#

# Based upon the NCSA server configuration files originally by Rob McCool.

#

# This is the main Apache server configuration file. It contains the

# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.

# See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/> for detailed information about

# the directives.

#

# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding

# what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure

# consult the online docs. You have been warned.

#

# The configuration directives are grouped into three basic sections:

# 1. Directives that control the operation of the Apache server process as a

# whole (the 'global environment').

# 2. Directives that define the parameters of the 'main' or 'default' server,

# which responds to requests that aren't handled by a virtual host.

# These directives also provide default values for the settings

# of all virtual hosts.

# 3. Settings for virtual hosts, which allow Web requests to be sent to

# different IP addresses or hostnames and have them handled by the

# same Apache server process.

#

# Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many

# of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the

# server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do *not* begin

# with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"

# with ServerRoot set to "C:/Apache/Apache2" will be interpreted by the

# server as "C:/Apache/Apache2/logs/foo.log".

#

# NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes

# instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache").

# If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which Apache.exe is located

# will be used by default. It is recommended that you always supply

# an explicit drive letter in absolute paths, however, to avoid

# confusion.

#

### Section 1: Global Environment

#

# The directives in this section affect the overall operation of Apache,

# such as the number of concurrent requests it can handle or where it

# can find its configuration files.

#

#

# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's

# configuration, error, and log files are kept.

#

# NOTE! If you intend to place this on an NFS (or otherwise network)

# mounted filesystem then please read the LockFile documentation (available

# at <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mpm_common.html#lockfile>);

# you will save yourself a lot of trouble.

#

# Do NOT add a slash at the end of the directory path.

#

ServerRoot "C:/Apache/Apache2"

#

# ScoreBoardFile: File used to store internal server process information.

# If unspecified (the default), the scoreboard will be stored in an

# anonymous shared memory segment, and will be unavailable to third-party

# applications.

# If specified, ensure that no two invocations of Apache share the same

# scoreboard file. The scoreboard file MUST BE STORED ON A LOCAL DISK.

#

#ScoreBoardFile logs/apache_runtime_status

#

# PidFile: The file in which the server should record its process

# identification number when it starts.

#

PidFile logs/httpd.pid

#

# Timeout: The number of seconds before receives and sends time out.

#

Timeout 300

#

# KeepAlive: Whether or not to allow persistent connections (more than

# one request per connection). Set to "Off" to deactivate.

#

KeepAlive On

#

# MaxKeepAliveRequests: The maximum number of requests to allow

# during a persistent connection. Set to 0 to allow an unlimited amount.

# We recommend you leave this number high, for maximum performance.

#

MaxKeepAliveRequests 100

#

# KeepAliveTimeout: Number of seconds to wait for the next request from the

# same client on the same connection.

#

KeepAliveTimeout 15

### Section 2: 'Main' server configuration

#

# The directives in this section set up the values used by the 'main'

# server, which responds to any requests that aren't handled by a

# <VirtualHost> definition. These values also provide defaults for

# any <VirtualHost> containers you may define later in the file.

# This can often be determined automatically, but we recommend you specify

# it explicitly to prevent problems during startup.

# redirections will not work. See also the UseCanonicalName directive.

#

# We use Alias to redirect any /error/HTTP_<error>.html.var response to

# our collection of by-error message multi-language collections. We use

# includes to substitute the appropriate text.

#

# You can modify the messages' appearance without changing any of the

# default HTTP_<error>.html.var files by adding the line:

#

# Alias /error/include/ "/your/include/path/"

#

# which allows you to create your own set of files by starting with the

# @exp_errordir@/include/ files and copying them to /your/include/path/,

# even on a per-VirtualHost basis. The default include files will display

# your Apache version number and your ServerAdmin email address regardless

# of the setting of ServerSignature.

### Section 3: Virtual Hosts

#

# VirtualHost: If you want to maintain multiple domains/hostnames on your

# machine you can setup VirtualHost containers for them. Most configurations

# use only name-based virtual hosts so the server doesn't need to worry about

# IP addresses. This is indicated by the asterisks in the directives below.

#

# Please see the documentation at

# <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/vhosts/>

# for further details before you try to setup virtual hosts.

#

# You may use the command line option '-S' to verify your virtual host

# configuration.

#

# Use name-based virtual hosting.

#

#NameVirtualHost *:80

#

# VirtualHost example:

# Almost any Apache directive may go into a VirtualHost container.

# The first VirtualHost section is used for requests without a known

# server name.

#

#<VirtualHost *:80>

PHP INI Config File

;;;;;;;;;;;

; WARNING ;

;;;;;;;;;;;

; This is the default settings file for new PHP installations.

; By default, PHP installs itself with a configuration suitable for

; development purposes, and *NOT* for production purposes.

; For several security-oriented considerations that should be taken

; before going online with your site, please consult php.ini-recommended

; and http://php.net/manual/en/security.php.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

; About this file ;

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

; This file controls many aspects of PHP's behavior. In order for PHP to

; read it, it must be named 'php.ini'. PHP looks for it in the current

; working directory, in the path designated by the environment variable

; PHPRC, and in the path that was defined in compile time (in that order).

; Under Windows, the compile-time path is the Windows directory. The

; path in which the php.ini file is looked for can be overridden using

; the -c argument in command line mode.

;

; The syntax of the file is extremely simple. Whitespace and Lines

; beginning with a semicolon are silently ignored (as you probably guessed).

; Section headers (e.g. [Foo]) are also silently ignored, even though

; they might mean something in the future.

;

; Directives are specified using the following syntax:

; directive = value

; Directive names are *case sensitive* - foo=bar is different from FOO=bar.

;

; The value can be a string, a number, a PHP constant (e.g. E_ALL or M_PI), one

; of the INI constants (On, Off, True, False, Yes, No and None) or an expression

; (e.g. E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE), or a quoted string ("foo").

;

; Expressions in the INI file are limited to bitwise operators and parentheses:

; | bitwise OR

; & bitwise AND

; ~ bitwise NOT

; ! boolean NOT

;

; Boolean flags can be turned on using the values 1, On, True or Yes.

; They can be turned off using the values 0, Off, False or No.

;

; An empty string can be denoted by simply not writing anything after the equal

; sign, or by using the None keyword:

;

; foo = ; sets foo to an empty string

; foo = none ; sets foo to an empty string

; foo = "none" ; sets foo to the string 'none'

;

; If you use constants in your value, and these constants belong to a

; dynamically loaded extension (either a PHP extension or a Zend extension),

; you may only use these constants *after* the line that loads the extension.

;

; All the values in the php.ini-dist file correspond to the builtin

; defaults (that is, if no php.ini is used, or if you delete these lines,

; the builtin defaults will be identical).

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

; Language Options ;

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

; Enable the PHP scripting language engine under Apache.

engine = On

; Allow the <? tag. Otherwise, only <?php and <script> tags are recognized.

; NOTE: Using short tags should be avoided when developing applications or

; libraries that are meant for redistribution, or deployment on PHP

; servers which are not under your control, because short tags may not

; be supported on the target server. For portable, redistributable code,

; be sure not to use short tags.

; Output buffering allows you to send header lines (including cookies) even

; after you send body content, at the price of slowing PHP's output layer a

; bit. You can enable output buffering during runtime by calling the output

; buffering functions. You can also enable output buffering for all files by

; setting this directive to On. If you wish to limit the size of the buffer

; to a certain size - you can use a maximum number of bytes instead of 'On', as

; a value for this directive (e.g., output_buffering=4096).

output_buffering = Off

; You can redirect all of the output of your scripts to a function. For

; example, if you set output_handler to "mb_output_handler", character

; encoding will be transparently converted to the specified encoding.

; Setting any output handler automatically turns on output buffering.

; Note: People who wrote portable scripts should not depend on this ini

; directive. Instead, explicitly set the output handler using ob_start().

; Using this ini directive may cause problems unless you know what script

; is doing.

; Note: You cannot use both "mb_output_handler" with "ob_iconv_handler"

; and you cannot use both "ob_gzhandler" and "zlib.output_compression".

;output_handler =

; Transparent output compression using the zlib library

; Valid values for this option are 'off', 'on', or a specific buffer size

; to be used for compression (default is 4KB)

; Note: Resulting chunk size may vary due to nature of compression. PHP

; outputs chunks that are few hundreds bytes each as a result of

; compression. If you prefer a larger chunk size for better

; performance, enable output_buffering in addition.

; Note: You need to use zlib.output_handler instead of the standard

; output_handler, or otherwise the output will be corrupted.

zlib.output_compression = Off

; You cannot specify additional output handlers if zlib.output_compression

; is activated here. This setting does the same as output_handler but in

; a different order.

;zlib.output_handler =

; Implicit flush tells PHP to tell the output layer to flush itself

; automatically after every output block. This is equivalent to calling the

; PHP function flush() after each and every call to print() or echo() and each

; and every HTML block. Turning this option on has serious performance

; implications and is generally recommended for debugging purposes only.

implicit_flush = Off

; The unserialize callback function will be called (with the undefined class'

; name as parameter), if the unserializer finds an undefined class

I solved the problem. Easy Populate apparently didn't like the fact my categories included apostrophies.

Removed the apostrophies from the shop categories and VOILA! works like a charm. :)

OK, I 've tried the apostrohpe thing first. (I have replaced all apostrophe's with nothing, using Notepad).

I have also made sure to 'Empty' my 'Products' tables in PHPmyadmin before attempting to load my split files back into the store.

This whole thing worked like a charm the first time. Now that I go to do an update, the categories are shifting somehow.

Thus far the first 100 products seem to update with no category displacement. What could be causing some categories to shift (I am getting the right picture, with the wrong description and the right Product id, etc.,.) ? I can't seem to figure out the pattern, because the database seems to be fine at every point of inspection.

I have been days on this, and I'm sure there's an easy fix? Is there something I haven't tried?

ok so I have decided to use this contrib. to backup my product database so i can uninstall and reinstall a fresh preedited copy of Os 2.2.

I dont mean to Bump but Im not sure if you saw this which was right above the last question you answered. Any help would be great!

Is there some reason why this code utilizes it's own upload functions instead of using the built-in upload class?

The code says to include the easypopulate_functions.php if you are using a pre-Nov1-2002, however this still needs to be included even if you are using the latest MS2 release.
