what is your DOCUMENT_ROOT setting in your admin/includes/configure.php file?

 

i really need to get this sorted today as i've got a couple of thousand products to add by the first of jan!!

 

Please can somebody help!?

 

Guide me step by step maybe?

 

I'm trying the install on 2 test shops atthe moment located at www.prodigymotorsport.co.uk/testshop this is a direct copy of my live shop

 

the second shop is located at www.prodigymotorsport.co.uk/catalog this is a fresh installation

 

i haven't been able to get it to work on either of them

Have you tried uploading the included test file? The last time I looked at the EP download, someone had changed the default model size to something other than 12. If you have not edited your model size in your shop, then you will need to change that back.

yes tried uploading the sample and all it does is refresh the screen

Right, I've been trying to get easy populate working for the last couple of days with no luck. I've made a fresh install of oscommerce and the only modification made is the register globals patch. I've added ep v2.77, added the temp file and changed permissions, added the link to admin and thanged the define('DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT' to $DOCUMENT_ROOT

 

When trying to download to stream or temp all that happens is that the screen refreshes. When trying to upload all that happens is the screen refreshes.

I downloaded the EP file as the manual says and uploaded the downloaded file untouched as the manual says by clicking on Insert into Database from EP control panel to test before feeding new data. Why am I getting this error?

 

I get the following:

1062 - Duplicate entry '63-1' for key 1

 

INSERT INTO categories_description( categories_id, language_id, categories_name ) VALUES ( 63, '1', 'Tropical Sunset Topless Sandals' )

I know there are several other threads with duplicate entry problems due to other contribs, but I don't have any of the contribs referred to and I have not modified the easypopulate.php file other than adjusting all the configs. I did read the entire manual and have searched through 100's of threads, but cannot find a solution.

Right, I've been trying to get easy populate working for the last couple of days with no luck. I've made a fresh install of oscommerce and the only modification made is the register globals patch. I've added ep v2.77, added the temp file and changed permissions, added the link to admin and thanged the define('DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT' to $DOCUMENT_ROOT

 

When trying to download to stream or temp all that happens is that the screen refreshes. When trying to upload all that happens is the screen refreshes.

scott, this is not an easypopulate error causing your problem, something else is going wrong with your server. click on tools/file manager to get your error and then find out what is going wrong, rather than asking someone to figure out your problem.

again this is not an easypopulate problem. if oscommerce doesnt work out of the box 100% on your server, then it is a server problem.

the data you downloaded is not the default data, as nothing has tropical sunset in it. you have some problem as the 63 and 1 are being merged together.

No it is not the default data. I have categories and products that I entered in through Admin Categories/Products interface, but there are no db adjustments from contribs.

 

I thought a good test if it was working would be to download the data from the database and upload it untouched to make sure things are working.

 

Please help me understand why it would not simply run updates on all the categories and products according the manual. Why is trying to insert something? What would trip this.

I have EP working great with the exception of not uploading an attribute with a negative value correctly. I have a special internet price on some of my items of varying $'s off, they all show up as an addition when added to the shopping cart. for example:

 

Special internet price: -100 adds 100 to the item instead of subtracting it.

 

I had all of them working perfectly before I started using EP and now I took the option off completly but my descriptions still state to "see the special internet price in the options below". I want to try to fix the problem before I edit all of the descriptions and go with a coupon code. I did a search on this thread and found some attempts at a fix but I want to see if anyone has found a better one.

I tried the same thing and no matter how I formatted the negative number it would turn it into an added amount instead of a subtracted amount. When I created the negative/subtraction within my store on one item, it worked properly. So I downloaded that item (and all the others) with EP. I thought that by copying the exact cell for the price into all the other items it would carry over properly when I uploaded it all back into my store - I thought wrong. It changed all the items (including the one that had originally worked properly) so that they added the price. I think I tried every combination of + and - signs in every way possible. I could never get it to end up with a subtraction in the end.

Hey guys, I'm having some severe problems with Easy Populate. I've added these fields to my product info:

 

product price (cost)

 

and i would like that to come up in easy populate as well.

 

But I can't seem to do anything right with easy pop. :/. Is there anyone that can offer me a little more towards one on one support for this. Or if there's a link they can send me to with someone having the same problem that was answered already that'd be great.

Searched through the last fewpages of the Easy Populate thread but didn't seem to see anything regarding my question.

 

Question is: I'm able to upload, and EP takes the upload (with the exception of the problem with ' - Arrgg!) anyway, I have a column for dates, but OSC is coming back with "This product was added to our catalog on ." It's not taking the date that I've entered in the sheet.

 

Any ideas?

If you are using Excel to edit you may want to check the formatting on date columns. Excel by default changes that column and slaughters the mysql formatting. You need to set date columns to custom: YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss formatting in Excel.

 

Of course this is a useless post if you are not using Excel.
