yaani
Well I copied the catalog folder in the Globals Patch File into the catalog folder on my local computer & FTP'd the catalog folder up to the server but I still get the "FATAL ERROR: register_globals is disabled in php.ini, please enable it!" error. ♥Vger
Provided you have FTP'd all of the files in the Register Globals Patch to your website it should work. Make sure that you launch your browser, don't go to your website, click on the Tools link in the Browser, select Internet Tools and elect to delete all Temporary Internet Files and all Offline Content ( to make sure you are not viewing cached pages). yaani
Yay! I got it to work! I had copied the patch catalog folder into the catalog folder on the server instead of the root folder. Thanks, Yaani-Mai
Hbelkin
The installation instructions state that the CATALOG directory should be copied to your server... which is how I'd like to do it. But many files reference "../../oscommerce-2.2ms2-051113/catalog/..." in "require" statements. What am I missing? I don't want the eventual page paths to include the "oscommerce-2.2ms2-051113" directory! Thanks!
♥Vger
If you want the site to be located at http://www.yourdomain.com/catalog then you upload the catalog folder and its contents to the root of your web (via FTP). If you want your osCommerce website to be available at http://www.yourdomain.com then you just upload the contents of the 'catalog' folder but not the folder itself. The first case applies. But when I do that, then if I try to run the "catalog/install" script, it will fail on line 13: require('../../oscommerce-2.2ms2-051113/catalog/install/includes/application.php'); because the "oscommerce-2.2ms2-051113" directory does not exist above "catalog"!? ♥Vger
The install is dynamic. If you install in 'catalog' then it references 'catalog' and if you install in the root then it references the root. Vger

Vger Would be nice, but mine is not working like that! Here is a sample error: Warning: main(../../../../oscommerce-2.2ms2-051113/catalog/install/includes/includes/functions/general.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/b/e/l/belkinder/html/prophotostuff/catalog/install/includes/application.php
♥Vger
Then you have not entered the correct address when you start the install, either that or you uploaded the files using an ftp client like Dreamweaver, which will potentially mess up any ftp upload. Make sure that you use a good ftp programme like WS FTP Home (30 day trial version) or FileZilla (free). Vger

I do have other ftp clients like WS, I just wanted a local copy in DW so I was lazy and let it upload. I'll blow it away and re-load it... thanks again! crafterbynite
how do i reset permissions
♥Vger
There are two main ways of changing permissions: 1. If your site is hosted on a Windows server then you need to go to your Web Hosting Control Panel and use the 'File Manager' to change permissions. You may also find this an easier way to change permissions if your site is hosted on an Apache server and you are new to web work. 2. If your site is hosted on an Apache server then you can also use the CHMOD function via FTP. FTP to your website, locate the file or folder you wish to change permissions on, right-clcik on it and look for the CHMOD link - if you don't see one then look for the Properties link. Use this to change permissions. This does not work on Windows servers. Vger

♥Vger
Did you make any of the website files have permissions of 777 by any chance. Most web servers won't serve up files with full permissions because of the security risk. Vger
stuzstore
Having troubles with install. Any advise on the following error message? Many Thanks! A test connection made to the database was NOT successful. The error message returned is: Table 'mydatabasename.configuration' doesn't exist Please click on the Back button below to review your database server settings. ♥Vger
You need to set up a blank database before you start the install. Then you need to know your MySQL User Name and Password to be able to run the install. Vger
Guest
Hi, I like the "away you go" part at the end. I am looking forward to that. I have been trying to get os up on a windows box for over a week now. Is there a listing anywhere of what versions of the AMP apps work without having to jump through hoops. I am not lazey, I have been spending hours and hours trying to find the answers to stuff that keeps failing. At this point it is the version of the mysql client issue. If there is just a listing ow what works so I can get this demo site up on a local box, it would be very helpful. Thanks, Michael
♥Vger
Download and install XAMPP (http://www.apachefriends.org/en) which is an all-in-one Apache server setup - and a 1-click install. It has all you need to run your computer as a local web server capable of handling osCommerce. Vger
