select configuration_key as cfgKey, configuration_value as cfgValue from configuration

[TEP STOP]

logged to 'admin' as : http://e-market.artest.com.tr/admin/

Before you send me to "common problems" section I have had a look there but it is confusing. I have created a database called DB_DATABASE in the root but stiil makes no difference. Should I reinstall or is there another way around. But in the mean time trying to go thru "install" when teh OSCommerce asks for the database name .... which DB I quote because there is one given by the " web host" then there another one created by me!?.

Go to osCommerce admin panel --> Sessions --> Sessions Save Path and change to just tmp, with no slash before or after.

This thread is only for people who are having trouble installing osCommerce, and not for people who wish to modify it after they have installed it.

Vger

Hi,

About the protection there is a programme but installing is a bit confusing, I wonder if you can help on this topic.

1. Open the config.php file and set all of your MySQL settings.

2. Open the admin/config.php file and place those same settings.

3. Upload your files to the server and go to:

http://www.yourdomain.com/password_protect/admin/install.php

4. After executing the installer, please be sure to remove the install.php file in the admin directory.

5. You can now login at http://www.yourdomain.com/password_protect/admin with the following information:

these files on 1 and 2 are the files in that protection programme or are they the ones in my web site root

please let me know.

Hi,

I installed osC almost successfully - thanks to this guide :) . I read through all the posts referring to permission problems, but i could not find my solution... maybe you can help me.

I use winXP Prof, and i installed osC just to see how it works, the database is on my machine, and everything works fine, except that I get the warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: C:/wamp/www/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

I read several times how to reset the permissions but I still do not know how to do that under xp... I have never used it. Could you pls help me? I am just a user, not a professional.

thx

Krisz

They are the files in the contribution, and you need to enter the mysql user name and password into them.

Go to the file on your C drive, right click on it, select Properties, then tick the Read Only box and save.

I can't believe it... sorry for the stupid question, I thought of sg much more complicated  .

Anyway, thanx for replying.

Krisz

PS: I have seen some forums lately regarding different areas, but the way you reply here to each and every Q (no matter how basic things they refer to) is unique. You are just doing a great job. thx

I'm installing a new osc and there is an error showing :

A test connection made to the database was NOT successful.

The error message returned is:

Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

I have re-install MySQL for serveral times, but nothing change. Do you have any idea? Please comment!

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/old-client.html

If you are using the updated version of osCommerce 2.2 MS2 (November, 2005) then you shouldn't have this problem.

Downgrade to one of the MySQL 4+ versions and you should be okay.

Vger

Hi Vger, Thanks for your quick reply. I will try it tomorrow. Are the PHP5 & MySQL 5 not compatible with the OSC? I had installed them successfully before with the OSC, but the programme was corrupted when I doing the customization.
