[CONTRIBUTION] Ultimate SEO URLs v2.1 - by Chemo

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I really need some assistance. I have installed SEO URL 2.1d 25 Nov 2006. My store runs on OSC v2.2 RC2

The category url's are not populating right i.e. it displays in the form http://domain.com/-c-112.html as opposed to domain.com/category-name-c-44.html.

I've upgraded now to 2.1d Admin settable Products and Categories, but still have the same problem.

Advice will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Elroy

Okay my problem is resolved.

Basically I ran a compare on admin/categories.php (beyond compare), and noticed that with the implementation of the SEO Header Tags contrib certain seo_url entries were overwritten.

Seo Validation now works perfectly as well.

Thanks Robert completely missed that...life saver :D

Sorry to seem dense, but I have searched and not found teh answer.

USU worked fine in my store. I copied this to another store, everything still in the root. The new store will be a subset of the old one, so I removed most of the catagories and products.

I get a 404 error when I move from the home to any other page. I see the SEO url, but it doesn't work. If I shut off SEO URLs, everything works fine.

Every answer I have seen to this question is "turn 'Use Search-Engine Safe URLs (still in development)'" to false. It is, and I have tried it both ways. I have turned teh caches to false, I have reset the cache, I even created a brand new catagory and moved the products in to it, same result.

If I turn SEO URLs off, everything works in my store which leads me to believe I got all the configuration details changed properly. But for some reason, SEO URLs just will not work.

EDIT: BTW, both stores are on teh same server. Different directories, different domains, configs work without SEO URLs. So global and php settings aren't to blame.

Very strange error.

I have USU, RC2.

When I try to buy a product1 from category A, it places a product1 in cart, and when I buy another(different) product2 from category A it add the previous product1 to cart again.

When I turn off USU it works fine.

What could be the problem.

Please HELP!!!

Thanx in forward.

Vojkan Tasic

P.S. Just to mention I also have FWR URL Validation installed!

Hi again Jack,

After I applied this I get ever stranger bug.

When I'm not signed into the shop and when I put something into the cart and click continue shopping it says product not found and when I add, after that, another product into the cart it empty my cart and after that continue shopping button disappears.

You can try it yourself on my shop http://shop.la-ram.co.rs There is no English variant of the site, I hope you can manage without it!

Thank you very much for the help!!!

That seems to be caused by the second mod in the jira page.

Take shopping_cart back to standard and try just using the mod for product_listing.php

If the SEO URLs are correctly formed e.g.

http://www.mysite.com/my-great-product-c-22.html

Then it must be a .htaccess issue as once you click the link the server via .htaccess converts it to ..

http://www.mysite.com/index.php?cPath=22 which is a totally standard osCommerce URL.

I tried, but not successfully during the buying process it empties my cart all of a sudden and start over.

I'm desperate, if you are not sure what to do how can I.

Thanx again Jack!

I tricked it, I have set up not to show cart after buying something and this seems to work. But with showing the cart it will not work for sure!

Firstly my name is not Jack it is Rob :D

Secondly it is not an issue with USU it is an issue with your particular code or the oscommerce issue I pointed you to in Jira.

We support oscommerce and oscommerce users here. You need the CRE Loaded forums.

I've spoken to Jack_mcs about this (Header Tag SEO) and he's fully aware of a conflict between the two contributions under certain limited conditions. If you post back in the Header Tag SEO support thread I'm sure he will point you in the right direction.

I have plenty of ideas about how it can be done .. none of them "simply".

I keep getting 404 not found, and the pages seem to be generated correctly...

I installed it 3 times...

What did I do wrong?

thanks

Frank

Not enough info to work out what you have done wrong. A link to the site will probably reveal all.

www.bellabacci.com

I'll enable it for 10 mins

Ok so ..

http://bellabacci.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=25

Redirects to ..

http://bellabacci.com/catalog/sandals-c-25.html

Which then throws a 404 error.

This means that the .htaccess redirects are not functioning because sandals-c-25.html is translated by the USU .htaccess rules as cPath=25 which is of course the standard osc querystring.

Before we check other stuff could you check that RewriteBase is set as /catalog/

Hi All,

I was wondering if someone can help me out? I am fairly new to this forum and have most everything set up the way I want it. I have installed the Ultimate SEO URL and it works fine, except one thing. There is a "Details" button on my site when you put your mouse over that button, it does not point you to the static URL that it should. The title of the product will point you to the static url but the "Details" button will not? Would you know how I can either fix the "details button" to point to the static looking url or can someone tell me how to remove the "Details Button"? Hopefully that made sense? Below is an example:

Product title URL points to http://url.com/product-name-p-48.html

Details button points to http://url.com/product_info.php?products_id=48

Both ends up in the same location. The problem with the above is that is considered "Duplicate Content" and will provide bad SEO rankings.

Can someone please help? I can PM the URL or post here, but not sure if I can do that.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Dave
