Mediajuggle 0 Posted May 31, 2005 I'm in the process of creating a music download store and I'm looking for recommendations for a card processor. i've been talking to CDbaby about getting their catalog and it's set in stone that they get 65? per download. To remain competitive in this space, you downloads can't cost more than 99?. Paypal takes 38? per transaction. Unless i'm doing the volume of an iTunes Paypal won't budge on the per transaction fee, and they're the lowest. I was looking a BitPass and my fee would only be like 21? per transaction, but any solution I choose must of course work with Oscommerce (contriubtion etc) Any ideas? exit2studios 0 Posted June 9, 2005 Mediajuggle, I see you didn't get an answer here but was wondering what you discovered?
Mediajuggle 0 Posted June 9, 2005 well what I discovered is that with all of the smaller sites like AudioLunchbox you lose money if someone downloads only 1 song because the per transaction fee and the artists cut takes it all. You start making money by having people download 4-5 songs since you will only pay the transaction fee once. That's why AudioLunchbox offers Lunchcards (gift cards). If people purchase the cards in blocks of $20, $50, and $100 you can make money and even offer free songs with each card and not lose anything because you'll already have the $50. Mediajuggle 0 Posted June 9, 2005 but I'm going with Orchard because I've negotiated a lower rate than I could with CDbaby that will still allow me to make a few cents off each transaction. exit2studios 0 Posted June 9, 2005 amazing that bitpass can't be used with osc...that seems like the perfect match. Seems like I saw a similar contribution/service a few days ago, but now can't find it for the life of me.

Mibble 0 Posted June 10, 2005 there are many merchant processors listed there and in the contributions section, ie Cambist, AuthorizeNet, Versign, things like that. John Oligario Knowledge Base Contributions
