Seach Engine Friendly URL Support

BlueYon

Recommended Posts

This is my second attempt at creating a better version of the search engine safe urls.

It will change URLS from:

http://www.yoursite.com/product_info.php?c...4&products_id=1

to:

http://www.yoursite.com/Hardware/Graphics-...atrox-G200-MMS/

You can see it being used on a live site here:

Excellent contribution! if i could get it to work <_< . It's all installed HERE with no errors, and the URLs have changed, but they are not giving any descriptions. I've been through the install again and it appears to be correct. Any ideas please?

Here's an example of the new URL:

http://www.snooker-pool-tables-accessories.co.uk/product_info.php/cPath/18/products_id/108

TIA

Julian

I have SEF URLs enabled, but have CHEMO's Config Cache contribution installed, so i had to edit my own Index.php to suit rather than install the included index.php.

Yeah I get the same sort of problem....

http://www.amazon.dj with cookies NOT forced:

http://amazon.dj/shop/product_info.php/products_id/218?osCsid=4752da6f055a7885f77025b2687082f2

https://www.amazon.dj with cookies NOT forced:

http://amazon.dj/shop/DJ-Only-71/

https://www.amazon.dj with cookies forced:

http://amazon.dj/shop/DJ-Only-71/

The actual product is located in Catalog/CD's/ so the last two urls do not work.

This contribution seems to work but at times on my server it seems to timeout or something or other. I am constantly getting "This page cannot be found" like 3 out of 4 times. Is there something I can do on the server end to fix this?

I think this might be a problem with php's built in functions!

maybe because of the .dj at the end.

You would have to replace the parse_url function with a customized one.

Maybe I can do it in another release later on.

This is not somthing to be fixed!

I have set it to work wth the standard oscommerce. You need to fix it yourself if you are going to use it with Header Tag Generator!

I don't know how to get this working with CHEMO's contribution!

The problem is it already caches the page to change the urls.

What I need to do is change it to alter the urls directly in the html_functions.php

This might solve alot of problems people have been having.

Hello,

i can?t take this contrib in my shop, because i have same articelname?s.

is it possible to change it to:

manufactorname_articelnumber_articelname

thx for your help

You would have to do this your self!

This is the only flaw! You can not have 2 product, category or manufaturer the same.

I tried this MOD. The URL was changed successfully but it said "Webpage not found".

I followed the install file carefully but it still could't work. Could you pls. help?

I noticed that in my admin page, it says "Use search engine friendly URL : still in development". Could this be the reason?

This mod will only work with apache. What webserver are you running?

My server info: Apache/1.3.28 (Unix) mod_throttle/3.1.2 mod_ssl/2.8.15 OpenSSL/0.9.6b

 I can't understand the .htaccess file. When I upload this file to my /catalog directory, I can't even visit my site. It says "Internal server error". So I removed this file.

Dude your newest contribution v1.1 is the BOMB! I am not having a single issue now with this new code! Before I was having server timeouts or something and now nothing is faulting! Thank you for such a great contribution! This will no doubt improve search engine rankings!

Hey bohun, did you ever get this to work with header tags?

I have 'RJW Meta Tags' , 'Enable Disable Categories' and 'Category Descriptions' installed that effect the index file, I've tried to merge the index.php file with mine but with no success, just get parse errors
