I just found this contribution in the contribs which has been added very recently.

http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2451

It is basically a convert of oscommerce to a xhtml based layout :)

However i tried running it and I got an error, i set up putty ran the command and got this error.

can't find file to patch at input line 4

Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?

The text leading up to this was:

--------------------------

|diff -ru catalog/account.php catalog.new/account.php

|--- catalog/account.php Mon Jun 9 18:03:52 2003

|+++ catalog.new/account.php Fri Sep 10 03:11:39 2004

Perhaps someone knows the problem?

I've just tried this contrib, and it does work.

You need to upload and run the patch in the folder above the "catalog" folder, ie:

public_html/temp/catalog/

You would upload to the temp folder and execute it from there... seems with a few mods to the header tags the code validates.

I tried to use the patch but i got the following error

patch: unrecognized option `--no-backup-if-mismatch'

Usage: patch [options] [origfile [patchfile]] [+ [options] [origfile]]...
Options:
      [-cCeEflnNRsStuv] [-b backup-ext] [-B backup-prefix] [-d directory]
      [-D symbol] [-F max-fuzz] [-i patchfile] [-o out-file] [-p[strip-count]]
      [-r rej-name] [-V {numbered,existing,simple}] [--check] [--context]
      [--prefix=backup-prefix] [--suffix=backup-ext] [--ifdef=symbol]
      [--directory=directory] [--ed] [--fuzz=max-fuzz] [--force] [--batch]
      [--ignore-whitespace] [--forward] [--reverse] [--output=out-file]
      [--strip[=strip-count]] [--normal] [--reject-file=rej-name] [--skip]
      [--remove-empty-files] [--quiet] [--silent] [--unified] [--version]
      [--version-control={numbered,existing,simple}] [--index-first]

Im using FreeBSD 4.7-RELEASE-p27 (VKERN) #38: so perhaps the syntax is a little different? Any help would be great, perhaps if someone could put all the changed files in an archive, I really need a flexible layout. Tables suck so much.

hotnuts, is there any chance you could make a .zip file with all the files in and either upload it somewhere or email it to me? im still having issues on getting the patch to work :(

Id also like to see a tableless design, so I wouldnt mind working on a XHTML version thats fully controlled with CSS.

Let me know anyway.

Yeah I can do that, PM me with your email address.

I might work on generating a css controlled design, but dont hold your breath. If anyone wants to pay me for doing it then thats fine :) Im actually looking for a paid project at the moment :)

thnx
