page layout in browsers incorrect

Hi, Firstly sorry if this is a repeated topic i did look high and low fow a an hour to check.

 

I am very close to getting this site to go live, and there appears to be an occasional probelem with the layout, once you enter the account or ordering area.

THe whole page loses its horizontal laout and all the tables/boxes are sent down the left side.

or somtimes the main text is shrunk and the footer gets added to the end right of the main text

 

I have run through the codes comparing them etc, and cheking the tables but to no avail.

 

Intreastingly it is not always like this! it does it on both mac and pc on all types of browsers.

becuse the error is intermitant i have included a copy of the source from the browser when it goes wrong. if you look at it in something like dreamweaver you can see what i mean.

 

The only solution to it is to hash out the footer included but i don't want to have to do that.

I've browsed and did not see any problem (except that annoying secure/non-secure screen) but if you have your footer under the right column this is a known bug for that version of PHP

 

Ask your hosting to upgrade PHP

What version of PHP are you running? Using a banner at the bottom? Added any tables to the footer or infoboxes which may have been left unclosed? All of the above can cause the issue.

Hi Guys,

thanks so much for your replies, The banners are turned off and the only page which still dislay the intermentant probelm is the login page, as elsewhere i have removed the footer, (the date and blue line) It is odd as i have tried to copy the same non-secure pages which run fine in a non secure enviroment but when are copied over to the secure area start moving the layout around. It is a really weird error as i am not getting it now.

 

The server info is below:

FreeBSD 4.9-RELEASE-p7

?????Database:

MySQL 4.0.16

 

 

HTTP Server:

Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) PHP/4.2.2 mod_ssl/2.8.9 OpenSSL/0.9.6c

know PHP error if version <4.3

update or ask to update your php version to >4.3 (not 5!)
