iainshaw
SSL works - get a green "success" type warning telling me it's 128 bit - it's in your face if a bit garish images are badly magled - use one of the image contribs to use the right size images for the context. Resized images just scream "home-brewed" site to me. Might speed the site up a bit as well.

Guest
Here is a Good one probably one of the Best. I don't use it anymore just because I wanted 3 different images and went with This One The 1st one is probably the easiest and just what u need . You can always compress them using your imaging software if they are jpg's before uploading them. just don't over do it

Peter, yes you can steal my helpdesk, thanks alot for going through my site, its amazing how much you miss when your the one making it. I have concentrated more on helping the customer than design, modifying the way you check out and make new accounts which will hopefully make conversion rates higher. I personally see nothing wrong with the standard OSC layout and many internet shoppers will not know it is "Stock". --------------------------------- Duncan Jones

Panic36
I was getting the ?'s too.. But I went into IE settings and view > encoding and selected "Auto-Select" and now it all shows up fine... Not sure if this helps but might help.. But, this might cause confusion to a shopper who wouldn't know how to change the "encoding"....

That worked for me, but I don't think you want to tell people to change their encoding on their computer.

AfterDark
Well Duncan - there is no problem per say - I just get annoyed at people asking to have the same basic crap reviewed when they have only gone so far as to install the site and a couple of cointributions... 25,000 people before you have done the same friggin thing, leaving me wondering why yours is so special it deserves review. Sorry to put it so blunt, but when you can actually make osc "your own", then you have something to seek praise about. Reviewing the work of 25 other people who wrote the program and the contributions? It's been done. To death.

Some of are new to this, so a little praise from more experienced members of the community means a lot to us. We read it, digest it and work from there. So, we can't all strip OSC down and rework it how we would like, but we can make the smaller, more subtle changes that WE like the look of. We know it's not going to be everyones cup of tea or up to the standards other members are expecting, but we all have to start somewhere. Didn't you? The "basic" design of the site is not always what we ask to review. Colour schemes, content, spelling mistakes are sometimes picked up on and I know personally how difficult it is to see mistakes made in ones own copy. All we ask for is a little patience...please!
