Look in the user manual regarding how to use the language variable.

What STS modules do you have enabled (installed) in your Admin? What STS version are you using?

You should get in the habbit of referencing them like this: $templatedir/images/IMAGE.jpg This will be VERY IMPORTANT whenever I finally get to packaging the next release (STSv4.6) as it makes switching between existing template folders easier as well as fixes some bugs relating to the $templatedir variable when using infobox templates.

This is not completely accurate... With STS, you can put your images in any folder you want as long as it is inside your template folder (all core osCommerce images could reside in the core images folder or you can replace those as well by simply uploading the core image by the same name into your template image folder -read the STS User Manual for more details on this feature). Look at your HTML coding. You have place a dot before the forward slash on each of your image source URL's.

What version of osC are you using? There was a bug in the module refresh setting in older versions of osC.

No, STSv4.5.8 is for osC RC2a and below. Version 3 has a complicated template system built-in much like the complicated Joomla! template system. STS is much easier to use since all it requires is HTML knowledge.

My fault.... Just try placing the following anywhere in your template and see if that does the trick (don't worry about the other edits that I suggested earlier, that was for an older version): <A HREF="javascript:history.back()"><?php echo tep_image_button('button_back.gif', IMAGE_BUTTON_BACK); ?><a>

    Try this: Add the following line to the location you want your back button to appear in your template: <A HREF="javascript:history.back()"><?php echo tep_image_button('button_back.gif', IMAGE_BUTTON_BACK); ?></a> Now look for this code in your sts_user_code.php file: <?php echo '<a href="' . tep_href_link($navigation->path[$back]['page'], tep_array_to_string($navigation->path[$back]['get'], array('action')), $navigation->path[$back]['mode']) . '">' . tep_image_button('button_continue_shopping.gif', IMAGE_BUTTON_CONTINUE_SHOPPING) . '</a>'; ?> change it to: <?php echo //'<a href="' . tep_href_link($navigation->path[$back]['page'], tep_array_to_string($navigation->path[$back]['get'], array('action')), $navigation->path[$back]['mode']) . '">' . tep_image_button('button_continue_shopping.gif', IMAGE_BUTTON_CONTINUE_SHOPPING) . '</a>'; ?> and add this: <A HREF="javascript:history.go(-2)"><?php echo tep_image_button('button_continue_shopping.gif', IMAGE_BUTTON_CONTINUE_SHOPPING); ?></a> it should now look like this: <?php echo //'<a href="' . tep_href_link($navigation->path[$back]['page'], tep_array_to_string($navigation->path[$back]['get'], array('action')), $navigation->path[$back]['mode']) . '">' . tep_image_button('button_continue_shopping.gif', IMAGE_BUTTON_CONTINUE_SHOPPING) . '</a>'; ?><A HREF="javascript:history.go(-2)"><?php echo tep_image_button('button_continue_shopping.gif', IMAGE_BUTTON_CONTINUE_SHOPPING); ?></a> Just a hack but it should do the trick for you.

You have to have the $content tag in the template page in order to be pulling in the dynamic content.

The test folder should only be used upon the initial installation just to make sure you have installed STS correctly. After that, you should use the full template folder and familarize yourself with all of the advanced STS features such as infobox templates, specific page templates for categories, products, etc. Note: Both the test and the full templates folders that came with STS are merely sample template folders. Review them and then create your own template folders for special occasions such as holidays, sales, etc.

How do you have STS configured in the Admin? What version of osCommerce are you using? What version of STS? I suggest STSv4.5.8 by bkellum and osCommerce Online Merchant RC2a.

Well.....Did you not go to the STS Power Pack site and download the "Add more pages using STS" tutorial? If you can't follow that then I can't say anymore on this forum to make it any easier.

Look at my Add Pages tutorial in the STSv4 Power Pack site (site dedicated to all STS addons - link in my signature below). Also: http://forums.oscommerce.com/index.php?showtopic=295660&st=5120&p=1400113entry1400113

Look through your folders and remove any .htaccess files. These files are most likely the cause or you missed something in the installation of your site.

A CSS based Menu Support Thread

Hello George, I will be taking this for a test drive and will provide you feedback as soon as I get a chance to put it to the test. Off the top though, does this menu automatically pickup new categories/subcategories or does this need to be hardcoded? I'm assuming it does this automatically according to what categories/subcategories are created in the admin.

Note: STSv4.5.9 is an UNSUPPORTED release. You would be better off to use v4.5.8 or wait a little longer for v4.6 by bkellum. Make sure you have the STS Popup Image Module enabled in the admin.

Alan, Brian has not been around here for years. To answer your question, No, STS does not work for osC v3.05a as it has it's own template "system" already installed. It is not as easy as STS but it has one nonetheless.

    STS Error

The errors show that you have not installed the program correctly or that the program is screwed up. I only support my version which is 4.5.8 as the 4.5.9 version was uploaded by a scam user and you should not use it. You are missing several files that STS needs to work correctly. Also make sure that you are installing STS onto osCommerce RC2a and not osCommerce 3. The proper STS support thread can be found here: http://forums.oscommerce.com/topic/295660-contribution-sts-v4/page__st__5440 This thread is closed and all other support requests for STS should be posted in the above thread.

OK. It appears you are trying to view your site by using the following link in your browser: http://yourdomain.com//catalog/includes/sts_templates/test/sts_template.html That is not what your shop user will see when they visit your shop. They will see the following: http://yourdomain.com//catalog/index.php STS will use the templates that you create in the template folder to "select" which template to display depending upon what PHP page is being viewed in the browser. NOTE: The sample templates were created to give the look and feel of the stock osCommerce shop that does not have STS installed. This was done to show that you don't "lose" anything features or layout just by using STS. You get the opposite, more features and full control of the layout.
  25. It appears either your configuration files are not setup correctly for a default osCommerce setup or you did not install STS in the correct folder structure. It would be better to read the STS manual that came with the contribution. If you did, it would have informed you of the proper STS thread to ask for support.
