    osCommerce v4 demo

Things got pretty quiet. Any news?

    Next osCommerce v4 demo

How are things looking for that estimated June launch date for the beta?

    osCommerce v4 demo

Not at all. And I tend to agree/be in the same boat. I know it is based on trueloaded which seems to be a totally different platform. It appears to be this new version will be oscommerce in name only. that isn’t necessarily a bad thing though osc was in need of a total revamp.

    osCommerce v4 demo

Thanks so much for the demo today, I really appreciate you taking the time to show it off. I saw some really nice features that would certainly be considered enterprise or at the very least, require a lot of add-ons/apps and customization to achieve with some of the more popular ecom cart platforms out there right now. multiple storefronts, multi-currency, full multi language (checkout pages too, looking at you shopify), different pricing per currency/customer - all of those features are either required or highly wanted from a platform but I was not able to find anything that seemed as robust (maybe Magento has this but it is a much bigger beast). That being said I still am very curious to see how things run in reality, especially when loaded with many SKUs/attributes. How quickly it is able to run on a shop with approximately 100,000 SKUS will ultimately be very important to me. I look forward to having the actual code to play with and test.

    Import - export process

What exactly is being exported? Is it just a list of products. Is there any customization in what can be exported? I ask because i have made an export on my current oscom site for quickbooks exports of orders in specific status's - is this something that can be done easily or will I need to rework my export as something totally separate as I have on my current site? Here is a screenshot of my current site to give an idea of the functionality I am looking for: As you can see I am also using a program called ZedAxis to imoort the csv files into quickbooks.

Seeing some great stuff. Can you show the product attribute section? Is it’s possible to save attribute templates to reuse for similar products?

    osCommerce v4 demo

Just to be clear, there is tons of interest in V4 (especially from me). I think Smoky Barnable meant there was no context in the original post here in that we are all eagerly awaiting a demo, but did not see one available to anyone else. Since your post it is a little more clear that you got a personal demo, and we truly appreciate seeing all of the screenshots.

    Capture Fake Accounts IPs

Yea I cut off the rest of the code you should be able to find that part of your code or something similar to it and just add the f ($error == false && $responseKeys["success"])

    Capture Fake Accounts IPs

    It's been a at least 6 months since I did it but I think this is all of it on create_account.php Near the top of the page within the first process action: if(isset($HTTP_POST_VARS['g-recaptcha-response'])){ $captcha=$HTTP_POST_VARS['g-recaptcha-response']; } $secretKey = "MYSECRETKEY"; // post request to server $url = 'https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api/siteverify?secret=' . urlencode($secretKey) . '&response=' . urlencode($captcha); $response = file_get_contents($url); $responseKeys = json_decode($response,true); if ($error == false && $responseKeys["success"]) { $sql_data_array = array('customers_firstname' => $firstname, 'customers_lastname' => $lastname, 'customers_email_address' => $email_address, Bottom of Create account page: <div class="g-recaptcha" data-sitekey="mysitekey"></div> <div class="buttonSet"> <span class="buttonAction"><?php echo tep_draw_button(IMAGE_BUTTON_CONTINUE, 'person', null, 'loginform'); ?></span> </div> </div> </form> </div>

    Capture Fake Accounts IPs

Sorry, I didn't mean to be annoying I guess I was just relaying my experience which in fact did lead to the recaptcha being a silver bullet. I didn't use an addon I added it to create account pages myself and I am using the V2 checkbox with the security preference slider set to the middle. I doubt that helps you considering what you said but to record the IP I would just use something like this: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/6837655/log-user-ip-address-date-and-time And add a field to the customer table to record the IP

    Capture Fake Accounts IPs

AFter adding a captcha I was able to fully get rid of fake accounts coming so my guess is that you don't have it setup correctly. Before that I was using a script to delete about 5-10 accounts created a day.

    Currencies and Rounding

This is a feature we have really looked for in other carts and always been disappointed that it did not exist. One thing for sure that must be made sure of for us, is that there a separate google shopping/facebook catalog or whichever feeds, which account for the price to match exactly as shown on the website.

    Typical "How to" questions

Thanks I am not familiar with YII at all so definitely keep an eye on that framework. Another how to for shop owners: Returns and exchange management. how to keep track/be notified/notify the customer throughout the exchange procedure. Personally we do not provide return labels but that could be part of it. If an order is being partially returns/partially exchanged how to update the order in those cases etc.

    Typical "How to" questions

I think a big how to that hasn't been broached much is how to move from 2.x to v4 out of curiosity are you able to say how similar if at all any of the code will be? Will it be completely different on the front end or is the original code being updated? How similar if at all with the database structure be?
