  1. scendent any updates on the new release?

    Eagerly awaiting  :D

    Fiscus, and others, I appreciate your patience and understand your eagerness for the new version. I have been swamped with other tasks and have not been able to devote the time needed to get the new mod working. Please know that I have a paying customer waiting for some of these updates too! LOL that will help it move along. :D

    Thanks for the update - really can't wait for this to be released so we can start testing it all!!!

  2. Hi,

    I'm you should speak with Scott (who did the orig Sep. Pricing Per Customer) to see if you want to combine the updates.

    I was hopinf on having a new feature implemented and Scott has already shown some intrest on putting it together.

    Basically, I would love to see this mod be able to limit the actual range that customers in a certain group see. Not only, would their have their specific pricing bt they would have their own specific product range.

    If you (or you and Scott) want to work together on this it would be brilliant!!

  3. You should have posted this in the Pricing per Customer thread - it has been pretty active latetly.

    I know Scott is working on a version 4 with lots of bug fixes and some new features that will really nake his mod rock, so maybe he can pencil it in to have a look at what you are asking.

    I know in the thread he talked about an attribute manager so maybe it is already in the works.

    Either way Hopefully Scott will read this and offer any advice.

  4. Thanks for writing, and I have previously noted your request.  I have been swamped with work as of late.. but these are my plans:

    I want to tie up all of these changes into a 4.0 version and release it that way.  This version will consolidate a lot bug fixes, improvements (such as yours!) and a lot of functional changes (the current mod repeates a lot of queries and doesnt need to).  I expect to have it out in two weeks time.

    Looking forward to it!!! This will be one of the best Mods around :D

    Can't wait.

  5. All, my sincerest apologies for not being able to reply to your messages sooner.  I have not been available to do so the past few weeks.  I am taking steps to set time aside for the osCommerce community, however... so stay tuned.  I also just figured out how to get the forum here to notify me when someone posts to this topic or my inbox!  thats a big step! :)

    Here is a question for you:

    There are a lot of changes and suggestions for the current version of this mod.  I am wanting to implement then and release it as version 3.6.  However, there are some more fundamental code changes and improvements to the mod that I would like to do, and call it 4.0.

    How do you guys handle doing your upgrades?  Are you willing to recreate your code from a fresh MS2 install or do you need to modify it  as it is now?

    Thanks,

    -Scott

    Hey Scott - good to see you have had a chance to make it back onto the forums.

    I emailed you and also posted (on page 1 I think) earlier in this thread about an option that I think would be an excellent addong.

    Not only let seperate pricing per customers, but allows for specific ranges/products to be avilable to certain customers. I could really use this and I'm sure others would make use of it as well.

    As so making the changes to the current code or do a fresh 2.2 MS2 install I would say it is completely up to you. Obviously, Ideally, contribution that offer both and upgrade and fresh install would be preferred. However whichever is posted, through the support of either the author or other interested parties the upgrade and changes are added at a later stage (or visa versa).

    At this stage I haven't installed the contribution (in a hope that my request can be added) so I am a little more flexiable that others may be. In saying that my store is heavily modified so I will probs have to compare each file anyway.

    Good luck in the new version and I really can wait to see what happens with this.

    Email if you need any beta testing :-)

  6. Linda,

    I'm glad you answered - I was actually going to PM you about this - but thought I would throw it around out in the open for a little bit.

    OK, to be honest this is something that I personally need, but I'm sure many could benifit from it.

    I am in the clothing business so I will use clothing examples:

    Just say I have one shirt. The shirt is availiable in two fabrics (fabric1 and fabric2). My also produce the shirt in 3 different colours. The problem is that the shirt is only made in fabric1 in colour1 and colour2. While the same shirt in fabric2 is available in colour3.

    Colour3 is not available in Fabric1.

    Basically this would be attribute relationships (PRODUCT BASED HOWEVER). It would mean that I could sell the one shirt, in two different fabrics, but certain colours are only available in certain fabrics.

    As I mentioned this would have to be product based, as in another product fabric1 and fabric2 might have all colours available (I hope everyone is still following).

    The way I enviage it is that there is a new Product Attribute manager where (per product) you can specify which attributes belong to that product(s) and which attributes are related to other attributes.

    Then in product_info.php everything would remain the same, but once an attrivute is selected the other related attributes could be made available (either through an onchange in the primary attribute, or alternitevly you could make the attribute selection process step based. Ie. Select the primary attribute (in my case Fabric) and once the fabric is selected the available colours for THAT FABRIC become available).

    Once again I hope I am making sence here - please let me know what you think Linda, or if you need any more information.

    This may sound like it gets complicated if people had LOTS of attributes, however in the product attribute selection screen you could select an attribute as the primary/parent attribute (fabric) and then the available options stem from it (the available colours).

    Looking forward to everyones responses, and I know everyone is glad to see you back Linda :D

  7. I was wondering if anyone has developed, was thinking of developing or has thought about attributes with relationships.

    Basically, what I mean is that if you have a certain product, say a Shirt and the current attribute options are Fabric, Colours and Size.

    Say the shirt is availiable in one fabric in red,blue and green, however in another fabric, it is available in white, black and grey. It is the same garment but options just differ depending on what attribute is selected.

    What do people think? As far as I can tell there are no contributions that do this and I haven't really come across anything in the forums that discusses this issue.

    What are people thoughts, do we have a start for a new contribution?

    Looking forward to this :D

  8. This mod never really interested me but after having a read through the thread I got thinking.

    Does this mod (or any other similar mod) take into account compatability between products?

    Ie. If someone selects an AMD motherboard and then select an INTEL chip are they told that the two products don't go together? If so when are they told (I didn;t want to play around with the fastlane shop as I wasn't sure if it was live or not).

    The reason i ask is that , while I don't sell computers (or computer parts) i have a need to have certain products (to be solder with certain other products) basically it would vreate a relationship between products (and attributes)

    Just wondering what peoples thoughts on this was?

  9. While I can't give access to my admin section I can post some links on how this mod works and looks.

    attribute1.jpg

    This is the first option - I have made some changes, by getting the mod to display the model number as well as the description, the default install will just list the descritption. This pulldown lists ALL your products. Once you have selected a product you get taken to the next page:

    attribute2.jpg

    Again - I have added my model number at the top.

    This screen lists ALL of your attributes and allows you to quickly select what attributes you require as well as any dollar differences. Click subit and you are all done.

    Finally it also adds a Edit Attributes on the edit product page - as shown below.

    attribute3.jpg

    Hope this helps.

  10. Ok after playing around with it I managed to get the dropdown to list the model numbers instead of the descriptions - however I think I will defiantely need a hand to get both model numbers and descriptions working in the one dropdown.

    To get the model numbers working I changed

    $query = "SELECT * FROM products_description where products_id LIKE '%' AND language_id = '$languageFilter' ORDER BY products_name ASC";

    to

    $query = "SELECT * FROM products ORDER BY products_model ASC";

    and then:

    $title = $line['products_name'];

    to

    $title = $line['products_model'];

    If anyone else can give me a hand getting both to work together that would be great!

  11. I have this contribution installed and working fine - however I want to have the drop down box inslude the model numbers.

    Here is the new_attribute_select.php code:

    <TR>

    <TD class="pageHeading" colspan="3"><?=$pageTitle?></TD>

    </TR>

    <FORM ACTION="<?=$PHP_SELF?>" NAME="SELECT_PRODUCT" METHOD="POST">

    <INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="action" VALUE="select">

    <?

    echo "<TR>";

    echo "<TD class="main"><BR><B>Please select a product to edit:<BR></TD>";

    echo "</TR>";

    echo "<TR>";

    echo "<TD class="main"><SELECT NAME="current_product_id">";

    $query = "SELECT * FROM products_description where products_id LIKE '%' AND language_id = '$languageFilter' ORDER BY products_name ASC";

    $result = mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error());

    $matches = mysql_num_rows($result);

    if ($matches) {

      while ($line = mysql_fetch_array($result, MYSQL_ASSOC)) {

           $title = $line['products_name'];

           $current_product_id = $line['products_id'];

           echo "<OPTION VALUE="" . $current_product_id . "">" . $title;

      }

    } else { echo "You have no products at this time."; }

    echo "</SELECT>";

    echo "</TD></TR>";

    echo "<TR>";

    echo "<TD class="main"><input type="image" src="" . $adminImages . "button_edit.gif"></TD>";

    echo "</TR>";

    ?>

    </FORM>

    Ideally I would like to have a drop down that has :

    model_number | Product Name

    However if I can only get the model number that is fine.

    I have tried to play around with the code to get it to work myself but have had no luck yet. I know that the table has to be changes from 'product_descriptions' to just 'products' (as the model number isn;t kept in 'product_descriptions'.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Yes, you can use it with a centered shop... the menu isn't actually a part of the layout, it just appears that way because it hovers over the category box. To adjust the menu location you need to edit the includescoolmenu.php file.

      //Menu properties

     oCMenu.pxBetween=0

     oCMenu.fromLeft=8

     oCMenu.fromTop=116

     oCMenu.rows=0

     oCMenu.menuPlacement="left"

    The two settings you need to concern yourself with are oCMenu.fromLeft and oCMenu.fromTop.

    HTH,

    Tony

    Hmm hows does this work, when say I'm running 1600x1200 and someone else in on 800x600?

  13. I have installed this mod and it works fine (MS2 2.2) however we used Model numbers rather than descriptions to identify our products.

    Does anyone know how to change the drop down box (new_attributes.php) to display the model number first then the product description?

    I played around with the databased functions in new_attributes just trying to get it to list the model numbers instead of the description but no matter what I changed it kept displaying the description (if must be displaying it via one of the included files).

    Anyway if anyone can have a look at this and let me know that would be great.

    Thanks alot!
