    CSS Menu

I think thats the way to go... you should make the width 100%... it looks crowded now. But also make sure that the flyouts are set to the distance = to 158px, or whatever your side menu width is. I think it comes set to 200, which is why they are floating farthur away than they should. At least thats my 2 cents.

You jusy copy the javascript code into the HEAD section like this: <HEAD> <TITLE>Your site title</TITLE> <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <link href="/yourStyleSheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> $headcontent <script type="text/javascript"> //SuckerTree Vertical Menu (Aug 4th, 06) //By Dynamic Drive: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/style/ var menuids=["suckertree1"] //Enter id(s) of SuckerTree UL menus, separated by commas function buildsubmenus(){ for (var i=0; i<menuids.length; i++){ var ultags=document.getElementById(menuids[i]).getElementsByTagName("ul") for (var t=0; t<ultags.length; t++){ ultags[t].parentNode.getElementsByTagName("a")[0].className="subfolderstyle" ultags[t].parentNode.onmouseover=function(){ this.getElementsByTagName("ul")[0].style.display="block" } ultags[t].parentNode.onmouseout=function(){ this.getElementsByTagName("ul")[0].style.display="none" } } } } if (window.addEventListener) window.addEventListener("load", buildsubmenus, false) else if (window.attachEvent) window.attachEvent("onload", buildsubmenus) </script> </HEAD> This worked fine for me. Remember to add it to ALL your templates...if you use multiple ones. Then upload them to your catalog/includes/sts_templates/mysite directory You will also need to make sure the path to your CCSS file is correct ( I just called it <link href="/yourStyleSheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> above... fill in your own file name and path...and add the CSS stuff from the post to your css file... like this: /*Credits: Dynamic Drive CSS Library */ /*URL: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/style/ */ .suckerdiv ul{ margin: 0; padding: 0; list-style-type: none; width: 200px; /* Width of Menu Items */ border-bottom: 1px solid #EADE9D; font-family: arial; font-size: 11px; } .suckerdiv ul li{ position: relative; background-color: #EADE9D; } /*1st level sub menu style */ .suckerdiv ul li ul{ left: 199px; /* Parent menu width - 1*/ position: absolute; width: 200px; /*sub menu width*/ top: 0; display: none; } /*All subsequent sub menu levels offset */ .suckerdiv ul li ul li ul{ left: 199px; /* Parent menu width - 1*/ } /*All subsequent sub menu levels offset */ .suckerdiv ul li ul li a{ left: 199px; /* Parent menu width - 1*/ background-color: #ddd; } /*All subsequent sub menu levels offset */ .suckerdiv ul li ul li ul li a{ background-color: #bbb; } /*All subsequent sub menu levels offset */ .suckerdiv ul li ul li ul li ul li a{ background-color: #aaa; } /* menu links style */ .suckerdiv ul li a{ display: block; color: black; text-decoration: none; background-color: #EADE9D; padding: 1px 5px; border: 1px solid #ccc; border-bottom: 0; line-height: 2em; } .suckerdiv ul li a:visited{ color: black; } .suckerdiv ul li a:hover{ background-color: #663333; color: white; text-decoration: none; } .suckerdiv ul li ul li a:hover{ background-color: #663333; color: white; text-decoration: none; } .suckerdiv ul li ul li ul li a:hover{ background-color: #663333; color: white; text-decoration: none; } /* The main categories with sub-categories */ .suckerdiv .subfolderstyle{ background: url(images/arrow-list.gif) no-repeat center right; } /* This one colors the sub-folder with other sub-folders */ .suckerdiv ul li ul .subfolderstyle { background-color: #ddd; } /* This one colors the sub-folder with other sub-folders */ .suckerdiv ul li ul li ul .subfolderstyle { background-color: #bbb; } /* This one colors the sub-folder with other sub-folders */ .suckerdiv ul li ul li ul li ul .subfolderstyle { background-color: #aaa; } /* Holly Hack for IE \*/ * html .suckerdiv ul li { float: left; height: 1%; } * html .suckerdiv ul li a { height: 1%; } /* End */ This is my version, I changed a couple of colors...etc.. but you get the idea... just paste this to the bottom of whatever CSS file you already use. Then, of course you will need to upload the php file from the posting... I think thats it? Should work.... if it worked for me... it will work for you... I'm sure of it! Neil

As noted above... if using STS, you have to copy all the CSS code out of the php file in this cotribution and paste it into your actual CSS file. Then copy the javascript part (right after the CSS in the same file) and paste that into ALL your templates for STS. So...if you have built any additional templates for categories, or whatever, make sure you add the javascript to each of them, Then it will work fine with STS... It doesnt matter, then if you leave the new php file as is, since it just wont get used... and if you ever DO turn off STS, at least it will be there, and still function properly. Hope this helps someone. I am using it with STS and it looks great. Thanks for the fantastic contribution...saved a ton of headaches tring to style that ugly side menu. Neil

If you have a flyout menu that is going UNDER your Flash movie, just add a parameter to the flash in the html file... like this: wmode = transparent That fixes it. You have to add it in a couple of places in the Flash code... but you'll get it... and thats definitely the fix... I searched for it years ago and have been using it ever since. Hope this helps! Neil

If I understand correctly, you want the entire page to have some kind of tiling background image?> If thats it, then all you need to do is to add it to either the body tag of whatever CSS stylesheet you are using for the site, and make sure that the STS template youre using points to the appropriate sheet, or actually hardcode it in to the template itself. So... you do it exactly the way you would for any other web page, but you only do it to the STS template. Is that what you meant?

Well, not to push my luck - but the other thing I have been trying to find is a way to do is to have products that run out of stock NOT show up in the store anymore. Is that something easy to do? I looked at a couple of wildly complicated add-ons that dont really actually do that...but sort of. Again... this seems like something that everyone would want? At least all my client have wanted it...but I cant figure it out. Is it easily doable? I feel like I already got 1 of my 3 wishes....so I'm trying to make it a good one...LOL

Worked perfectly! I cant believe I couldnt find this anywhere else. Hope fully others can find and use this. I cant imagine building a store without this as a feature. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Bill, You are the MAN. I actually think I did this once, because I have one of the first osCommerce stores I did and it does have this like this...but I couldnt find it or remember how I did it. this is a MUST add on for everyone. I actually cant believe it doesnt come standard like this.... but anyway... I do appreciate your help. I owe you one ;)

Bill. I uninstalled the entire store and reinstalled a clean downloaded version of osCommerce 2.2 and still... NO Category names onthe category pages? I have reverted to my installation since the client is looking at it...but thats strange huh. Are you surre you arent using some kind of modification you forgot about?

Well... Bad news... I just compared the entire install and there are no substantive differences between a clean version of osC 2.2 and the files I am using... I am at a loss.. Any ideas at all? I reloaded the index.php file from v2.2 just to be sure...and nothing changed. The english.php file is exactly the same except where I changed some wording. I used a program called "beyond compare" and I went file by file. There were some very minor things.... but nothing to eliminate that feature. :(

If that's all it is, I'm going to kick myself!!! I use an installation that comes with Netfirms (www.netfirms.com) Could it be possible that they have some kind of corrupted installation? I am using a "clean" install there...and have never had that feature..... I'm going to get a copy or 2.2 and do a compare of the files side by side and see whats missing. DOH.... I have been trying to get this fixed for years...literally. Thanks. THANKS!

First..Thanks Bill, for responding. I know you must get tired of helping everyone out...and I appreciate it. Its in the breadcrumb trail... but people always want to have it in the body of the page itself as a title. The only way I found to do it is with the category image... but I preferred to do it with text. there was a contribution that allowed it but I used it years ago and cant remember what it was...and I'm not sure if it would work with the STSv4. If I am missing something...then maybe I screwed something up...but I have never been able to get a text Category name on the category pages...? Heres the link to the store I'm working on now so you can see what I mean. http://treefrogtreasures.netfirms.com/clean/nfoscomm/catalog Where I have the text "Select a Category Below" on the top of the category page (because they have their categories further divided into SUB categories) I would rather have "Here's what we have in $category " There's is a little confusing because they wanted shoppers to be able to see links to EVERYTHING on their home page ..lol so they could just immediately go where they wanted, but they also want people to know what category they are on.... I started making images for every category...but that only works if they dont add a new category...the name should be able to be placed on the page with a $tag ...shouldnt it?
