  1. Here is another contrib that does what you're needing too. I use it myself. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...,Attibutes+Sets Kevin
  2. There are many contribs that can do that for you. Since that's the case, I'd say just try one. I've added 2 contribs and they both are excellent. There are so many people needing the same things and the contributors here have made it available for everyone. I'm not sure at all if you'll go wrong with a random one that does what you need. Before you grab any, read up on them.. Check out the various ones that fit your needs. There are so many contribs out there, it's hard to just QUICKLY DECIDE which one you want,... not unless that one is 100% down to bone exact the way to need it. Tip: Do a search here and within your results,,,, target the posts that have the many, many views. Like I did yesterday and searched here and found a thread that talked about exactly what I needed. Some threads will have 10's - 100's of thousands of views. You may even have to read through some of the pages to find the answer you're needing before you decide to go for the contrib or not. The contrib I got last night came from a thread that was started in July of 2004. I searched for what I needed... refining my search criteria, and found the contribs "Multi Products Manager" and "Multi Vendor Shipping" (started 2004)". They are two great contribs. Hope that helps! Kevin
  3. If you're having permissions problems even though your info shows it's set correctly, it would be a good idea to either: a. set the permissions from a higher level (if possible on your server) b. contact your host and find out why it's a problem for you. Depending on your server/host setup, you may have already have root access to the server. I'm sure you do if you have a dedicated server. But, from what I've been learning recently (about a month now) is "ssh". I've always heard of it, but I never ventured in to it. It will get you "more securely" to your server root level. Also, depending on your server setup, your ftp program could get you root access to your server... but I've learned that using ftp for root access to a server, especially remote.... isn't safe any longer. It's much, much easier and safer using an ssh client. There are FREE ones on the internet. Mine is. Just search for ssh. Now that I've fixed my problem, I want to know why my permissions weren't actually set, although I my permissions displayed 777... .. Now that I think more about it, it should have read rwxrwxrwx, but it wasn't. So look out for that too. Kevin
  4. Thank you, orginal creator & the modifier of this Multi Product Manager contrib. After having so problems with my many products, I decided to give this a try after reading about it here. I can tell you this much... The REadme.txt file is flawless. There wasn't even a drop of a problem installing the contrib, and that was due to your precise and accurate instructions. It was that easy to install. I think I took about 10 minutes to do my install. Thanks a million for all your hard work in doing this. It already saved me hours and hours of work I was dreading to have to do. If you only knew how much this means to me. Thank you, thank you, & THANK YOU!! -------------- Simply Flawless. I Give It 10 Thumbs Up! Kevin
  5. I've opened up my split files in Excel and they are the way I added to them. Here is the problem I've noticed: In the database, I have category named: Beautiful Collection Custom Ornamental Steel Doors In the store and admin, it's listed: Beautiful Collection Custom Orna. I have more categories truncated like that.., approximately 100 or so, and my questions are: 1. Should I reduce the characters length? I was reading max 30 somewhere. I'm not sure. 2. Do I have to have a description? I have item no#, price, quantity already. Let's use a door, model no#AVI550. It's in the category Beautiful Collection Is this right?.... The top category would be Doors = v_categories_name_1 The subcategory would be Beautiful Collection = v_categories_name_2 on the row for each door for that category? Right now I have about 36 Beautiful Collection Categories and each have a door in them, but it should be only one Beautiful Collection and 18 doors. I'm using the complete attribute download. Once I get past the importing all my data, I'll work on the options. Any help is appreciated Kevin Can someone move this post to Easy Populate & Products Attributes, Easypopulate support thread http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=7&t=162244 I was replying to a post there. Don't know how the post ended here! Thanks
  6. I fixed my problem. I had to use my ssh client and I logged into my server with the root account and navigated to my folder, and I changed the permissions and it took. I also used my ftp program afterwards and my split files now download to my hd. Another issue I'm working on is that it took me hours to setup my database using the "complete" method, but when I uploaded my data, I have everything in it's own category and I have at least 1,000+ products in the "top" directory of the store in the admin.... and I have duplicate products in the same named categories. Since I was able to get my split files from my server to my hd, I'm going to purge the database, and add 1 product at a time, I did do it that way the 1st time, and when it added to the store correctly, I did another product, about 3 or 4 times. Since I thought I had the hang of it, I added all my data to it, following the top row, second row, third row structure, eofeof at the end, and still it isn't correct. Hopefully me setting the permissions wiped away any possible future data corruptions/problems. Kevin
  7. Hello all, I'm using the EasyPopulate and when I open up my ftp program(smart ftp) and go to the /temp/ directory to download the split files, I keep getting a permission denied error. I've checked and the permissions are set to 777. I verified it in the program in through my control panel. I am able to upload to the /temp/ directory, and splits the files too. Any help is appreciated. Kevin
  8. Is it going to be possible to change prices in the Attributes section by percentage amounts? Kevin
  9. Hello all, I have products where the option for a product may be +, -,.... but it's not working when I use a %. I've looked around for topics relating to "percentages" and I haven't come up with any good hits yet. I'll still continue to look just to double check everything. Some of my products option prices need to be changed by percentage cost. This osCommerce is just so awesome. Too much for me to explain all right here. Thanks for your valued times. Kevin
  10. I've re-read the manual and I have it up and running. I'm at the screen to upload and other tasks. Now, I'm going to put it to the test.
  11. Hello all, I meant to ask before about step no# 3 below: 3. For adding link to the Admin, edit file admin/includes/boxes/catalog.php by adding this line: I have no folder called /boxes/ anywhere. Thanks
  12. Helo all, I'm about to use the EasyPopulate and I was wondering if I'm missing anything before I go full ahead with it? I've downloaded it and it looks easy enough to install/comfigure. I've been reading the manual.l Thanks for your valued time. Kevin
  13. Have you tried uninstalling/disabling the STS template and see what happens? I would do that to at least get the store to how it was working before, then I would retry the sts template. Also, re-read the manual that came with it, and if all else fails.... contact the creator of it. Kevin
  14. Brian, thanks for the reply. I'll check further with them about it too. By the way, I've been looking over the files to this mod, and it looks like once I get the hang of things, this mod can do wonders. I'll contact them on Moday morning and hopefully they can help me with my account info. Ohh,,, before I forget, do you have a FedEx Express & Ground Shipping Rate Contrib? Thanks again for your valued time. Kevin
  15. Install the store in your "root" folder... http://www.mystore.co.uk When asked about your database, just use the one you already have. Kevin
  16. Hi James, Since you've said that the contrib problem exists even with your standard template, it would be a wise idea to pause it/uninstall it untill you correct the 1st problem. Adding any contribs/mods to a problem may only make matters worse. One you fix that 1st problem, the contrib may work. If it only happens when you install the mod, then you should post in the contribution section or contact the creator. Kevin Well duhh,, this is the Contribution Support Section. My bad.
  17. The above ***http:// link code translates to: http://www.fedexfreight.fedex.com/XMLRatin...as_freezable1=0 exactly as it shows I wonder what that freezable mean? None of my products require freezing. I'm still working on it. Kevin
  18. Hello all, I've managed to get the mod to work, but the problem now is that if I input my FedEx Freight Account no# in, an error returns to the screen when you checkout. If you remove the account no#, it will process properly, but it's not going to give the discounted price, which needs my account no# in order to get it. Also, what I noticed is that the readme file for this mod will cause you to "over write" your folders, which will indeed delete every file you have in those folders, rendering the whole store inoperable. The contrib only has 5 files that need to be uploaded, but 1 is the fxfreight.sql file. Look at the screen shot I put together. The files listed in the folders need to be "added" to the already folders. DO NOT upload the whole folders as the readme file suggests. Just rename the files that are already on the server, (I used filenameBAK.php), but you can name them as you see fit. After renaming the files on your server, upload the files from your hard drive to the correct directories. Notice that the files may have the same name in the contrib, but they have different file sizes. So be careful. I will redo a readme file for the contrib and I'll submit it in to replace the already readme file. Now I need this contrib to give me a shipping quote when I use my account no#. Below is the error I get when I use my account no#: FedEx Freight We're sorry, but an error occured while calculating the FedEx Freight shipping prices. FedEx Freight returned an error or invalid response. ***http://www.fedexfreight.fedex.com/XMLRating.jsp?as_shipterms=prepaid&as_shzip=39705&as_shcntry=US &as_cnzip=37208&as_cncntry=US&as_iamthe=shipper&as_acctnbr=99999999&as_class1=050&as_weight1=300&as_pcs1=1 &as_haz1=0&as_freezable1=0 (I've added the *** so the code would display here, plus I hit return so the code wouldn't display a long line of code on just 1 line). I've called FedEx and they verified my account info, so I know that's not the problem. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Kevin
  19. Re-reading the readme file and this is where I'm having the problem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Copy all of the files and directories from this zip file to your catalog directory keeping true to the directory structure. For the files that already exist, you will need to either overwrite them, or manually update them by opening each one and copying the code between these tags: //---FedEx Freight Modification START ---// //---FedEx Freight Modification END ---// a. When I do copy all of the folders, which includes the /includes/ folder, it doesn't have any of the files that are in my original /includes/ folder. b. The only file in the mod is the fxfreight.sql while there are just 2 folders: /admin/ and /includes/ c. In step one where it says: For the files that already exist, you will need to either overwrite them, or manually update them by opening each one and copying the code between these tags: //---FedEx Freight Modification START ---// //---FedEx Freight Modification END ---// Again, when I open the files, do the "start" code go at the very 1st line of every page, and the "end" at the very last line of the page? Thanks again for your valued time. Kevin
  20. Before employing this mod, I renamed my /includes/ folder to /includesBAK/. I renamed it back to its original name. So, now it's back to where it was. Also, the folder in the mod doesn't have the files that are in the original /includes/ folder. The mod files doesn't have these file names as my orginal folder does. I am thinking that my problem is not putting that FedEx comment/code in my existing pages as stated. But I did upload everything as stated in the readme file. And where to put the code? Do I put the code on the very 1st line of all my pages and on the very last line? Could you (mod creator) tell me which files I need to change/modify? Kevin
  21. Here is what I've done. While in the phpmyadmin, I went to "sql" and then I went to look on my hard drive for the fxfreight.sql and I ran a query on it, and do see that it's wanting to add those tables that are missing to my "products" table. I also have that query file on my server, but I'm obviously not looking in the right place. I do feel a little bit better, because I do see what the query file is trying to create. Ok... I looked in the products table, and it did add those fields to the table. After reloading the page, I'm now presented with these 2 error blocks: Warning: main(includes/application_top.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/cemetery/domains/cemetery-headstones.com/public_html/index.php on line 13 Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/application_top.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php:/php/includes') in /home/cemetery/domains/cemetery-headstones.com/public_html/index.php on line 13 I'm not going to let this mod get the best of me. I can't believe how many mod, scripts, .php .mysql and other programs that are much much more complicated than this, and I installed them without a single problem. I'd have to say this mod makes my install failure rate at approximately 2 out of 75+ installs. Honestly, I can usually install anything without a problem. But I must expect to run into difficulties from time-to-time. I really thank you for your help too, as I am still waiting for the creator to jump in on this thread. I really do need this mod, if I can just get it going. Kevin
  22. Hi safoo, I don't understand "Check the sql changes". Nothing seems to have changed, unless I'm not looking in the right place. I opened up the phpmyadmin but I don't see where the problem could be at. Kevin
  23. Below is what the instructions explain for NEW installations. Which would be me, since I never used it before. -=FRESH INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS=- ------------------------------- 0. BACKUP YOUR DATABASE AND ALL OF YOUR FILES! 1. Copy all of the files and directories from this zip file to your catalog directory keeping true to the directory structure. For the files that already exist, you will need to either overwrite them, or manually update them by opening each one and copying the code between these tags: //---FedEx Freight Modification START ---// //---FedEx Freight Modification END ---// 2. Import the included SQL file called "fxfreight.sql" to your database using a program like phpMyAdmin. 3. Go into your Administration section -> Modules -> Shipping and install the "FedEx Freight" module. 4. Click "Edit" and update all of the settings. 5. Click "Update" and you're done. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No#1 is where I must be lost. Since I uploaded the files and folders where they're suppose to be, I thought that they were over writing my files that are already there. But, if I'm wrong about that, I'm not sure exactly what is meant by: For the files that already exist, you will need to either overwrite them, or manually update them by opening each one and copying the code between these tags: What code is this referring to? The whole .php page code? I guess that's where I'm lost. I also thought that the code: //---FedEx Freight Modification START ---// //---FedEx Freight Modification END ---// would already be inserted inside of the pages of the mod since it's overwriting my /includes/ folder anyway. Plus it adds a /admin/ folder. It's probably so easy, I just can't catch it right now. Does anyone have any ideas? I did however email him and gave the link to this thread. Thanks again for all your help! Kevin
  24. Hello all, I looked at my folders and I noticed that the shipping mod adds a folder called "admin", and I also have a folder called "iadmin" which was installed by the store. I'm suspecting that has something to do with the problem. I'm reading the instructions again. It wasn't much because it's suppose to be simple, and it looks simple enough, but I am not getting something right or something else needs to be configured that wasn't explained. Since I didn't do much to the store in the beginning, and I only tried out this one mod so far, and I'm not sure of exactly which files it over-wrote, so I uninstalled the whole store, and I'm back to square one. The only thing I lost on this one is time. Wheewww, I'm glad that's all. Anyway, I'm compelled to email the contributor of this mod and ask that he reads this post. Since I have just the default store and nothing added to it, I'm assuming this aught to work, straight out of the box. I am confident I followed the instructions carefully. If it'll help any, the store is installed in the root directory of the server. Thank you all. Kevin
