    And to give an idea of what can be achieved, this took me very little time to implement;

BS 3.1.1 requires jquery above 1.9 and the BS site is running 1.11. I'm using 1.11 so I'll commit it and make a pull request.

After core release of bs1, there will be a debate on whether or not to add in *some* (that is the better, most useful, well coded) addons into the next point release.

I do believe it would be, but I don't have the time (or energy if truth be told) to recode the social bookmark modules to use these...

That goes back about 7 years ago when the cc info would be entered on the checkout_payment page and carried over to checkout_confirmation. If you look at a really old authorize.net module you'll se the the title was in the array. I think you can completely remove it but using tep_not_null does cause an E_NOTICE error, however, using isset does not.

The confirmation page is a little funky when using a cc module like authorize.net and I think there may be a better way so I'll work on an alternative and see what you think.

Manufacturer Info, Social Bookmarks and Notifications Infoboxes can now be shown direct in the product page (like how the reviews infobox works). See example at http://www.template.me.uk/2334bs3/product_info.php?products_id=1

For mobile views, in particular, is there really a need for the Categories and Manufacturers infoBoxes to be displayed, during the checkout process? It would make for a much cleaner interface with these hidden, if easily achievable.
The breadcrumbs and top logo provide entry points to other parts of the store, if required, plus there is the footer region for other possible relevant information (for example to check on terms & conditions).
[Also applicable to the account pages.]

just saw the header navi bar. looks awesome!
love the fire icon next to the "special offers" and the menu button? when you go into XS view.
all in all it looks really, really nice. header area, footer area = KILLER! that is how it should look.
run the store through gtmetrix; page speed: 94% A and y-slow: 90% A !! (w00t) i don't know how much value this gtmetrix data has......but it makes you feel good to see such numbers right? :shifty:
i really enjoy to browse through this BS store, there is nothing that makes me feel uncomfortable or stressed.

@@bruyndoncx good point. I'm waiting on developers other than the other Gary (who has put in loads of effort for the community, thanks Gary) to pitch in, fork on github, make the code changes so that I can cherry-pick..the more that do that, the more likely it is that full release will occur in March.

In terms of addons ? That would depend from shop to shop based on the shopowners needs...so it's hard to give an answer.

I can't actually remember the last time I used an addon from the addons section of the site (without recoding the majority, or taking the idea of the addon and recoding from scratch), that's how poor I consider most of those addons to be.

I have some ideas to keep addons for this BS version clean, 1 of which will be by inviting developers to be "certified" - this way the Joe Average ShopOwner will know what developers are OK and what developers to avoid.

Footer can now be seen live: http://www.template.me.uk/2334bs3/index.php

Remember that these footer components are controlled the same way as normal infoBoxes - you can sort them, you can remove them, you can add new ones. But with this ease brings limitations - you need to know how to code an infoBox so that it is available for you to include it into the Footer via the admin > modules > boxes page.

I think for the long term well being of osCommerce, modular is the way to go. That would allow so many more newcomers to get right along with their shop goals more easily, thus attracting that audience which I believe is important for osCommerce future. If someone wants to delve into coding they can, or as mentioned hire a pro for specific work.
