    SEO Sitemap contribution - Important Issues

    One last post... i did get this to work... a few things for all of us to think about: - is this really ok with google, the whole javascript redirect -- if not, we can have google not hit this sitemap (easy to do code wise) -- another idea, it is possible to push all or any use-agent to the sitemap file by using the mod rewrite - why not do this? - let's solve the 100kb issue... let's use splitpage results to split this up... - has anyone thought of using the rewrite mod as my .htaccess file has? visit the website, then categories and product links to see what i mean. www.buydigicams.com (live store - be kind) here is the code i have in my .htaccess file... i do not understand this code. a programmer wrote it for us... so if your store breaks don't blame me... do save a copy of your original .htaccess file... let's see if we can implement this code with the seo sitemap... Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On # RewriteBase /~quux/ # debug #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f #RewriteRule ^(.*)$ seo_debug.php?path=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L] # product name.html RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^([^/]+)\.html product_info.php?product_name=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L] # product /cat/manuf/name.html RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.+)\.html product_info.php?product_def=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L] # product definition: manufacturer + name + [category] #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f #RewriteRule ^([^/]+)\.html product_info.php?product_def=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L] # categories name #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f #RewriteRule ^([^/]+) index.php?cPath_name=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L] #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f #RewriteRule (.+)/([^/]+) index.php?cPath_name=$1/$2&%{QUERY_STRING} [L] # just a product name RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.+)/?$ index.php?cPath_name=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

    SEO Sitemap contribution - Important Issues

    For those who are having message_stack errors, goto line 214 in application_top_sitemap and comment those lines out. I am pretty sure you don't need them. After that everything works good. macman

    Automatically send data feed to Froogle

    Shane, I believe froogle has changed something related to the description column. My guess is the size. On their site, it says 64kb worth of description. Email froogle and ask them or check your feed locally and see if your descriptions are showing up correctly. If not, check your code...

    [Contribution] Ship In Cart

    Many osc users may not be aware that when selecting a shipping quote (logged in or not) from shopping_cart.php (or where ever your shipping_estimator.php is called from) that the rate is not carried over to checkout_shipping.php. Here is the fix for ShipInCart (MS2) assuming your shipping_estimator.php uses the: $cart_sid = $HTTP_POST_VARS['sid']; around line 134 In checkout_shipping.php find: } else { for ($j=0, $n2=sizeof($quotes[$i]['methods']); $j<$n2; $j++) { // set the radio button to be checked if it is the method chosen Below that add: if ($cart_sid) { $shipping['id'] = $cart_sid; } Hope this helps... RMA Returns error for 2.2 MS2

    hi folks, i am currently out of the country and the internet is terrible slow. i will be back within the next week. once i get settled i will upload everything. i few more changes have taken place so i think i new upload to the contrib area would now suffice. in the meantime, i am curious to why the code did not use the tep_image_submit function for return_track.php ??? i have added this to the code but i am not sure if this will cause a problem with most rma users. thanks, mac

    RMA Returns error for 2.2 MS2

    Hi folks, thanks for this useful mod. I just wanted to drop a quick line to let everyone know that this mod DOES work. I have a heavily moded site and had only a few simple problems. After a hour or so I had it all sorted out. Install only took 20 minutes or so. After looking at catalog>returns_track.php for a while, I decided to clean it up a bit. I don't think this calls for a new version or to upload it to the contrib site but if anyone would like a copy I can pass a link. The file still displays the same but the code is just cleaned up. If you use this code you will also need the catalog>includes>modules>returns_track.php as well since I modified some of the html... Cathy, if you would like these files to take a look or possibly pass them on to the next version just let me know. I will say though that I did have a double login problem when visiting the catalog>returns_track.php which is now fixed with this new code. Mac

    Automatically send data feed to Froogle

    according to the "froogle_feed_instructions.pdf' file sent when you get your account setup, the description can have 65,536 characters to descripe the product: "Full text from your web site describing the product and its features. Froogle searches this text when matching user queries to your product. The maximum length for the description is 65,536 characters." i use the header_tags within products_description table. how can i implement this extra description from the header tags into the 'description' array? i believe the query needs to be changed a bit and then this needs to be changed: preg_replace($_strip_search, $strip_replace, strip_tags( str_replace(">", "> ", $row->description) ) ) . "\t" . I am not sure how to do this, any tips? thanks, mac

    Automatically send data feed to Froogle

    Can someone tell me how long it takes for google to setup my froogle account? Also, why submit the feed only every 30 days, why not everyday? Does anyone know if our feed is sent to froogle if this will trigger the googlebot to spider the site too? Many thanks

    [Contribution - My First] Request Feedback, Automated

    WW, i just wanted to see if you have this mod of your running? If so, can you re-contrib it for us?!! Thanks pal The deal with that is that my 'DIR_FS_CATALOG ' has a forward slash at the end of it, so when I developed this, I didn't put a forward slash between the "DIR_FS_CATALOG" and the filenames. If you dod not have a forward slash at the end of those defines, then yours should read $datafile= DIR_FS_CATALOG . '/feedback_data.txt'; $historyfile= DIR_FS_CATALOG . '/request_history.txt';

    [Contribution] shop by price

    i have a fix now for this shop_by_price mod - with multicurrencies. This fix will allow box to show the shoppers selected currency. the only problem that i can't fix is the decimal point. it wants to show 99.00 instead of 99... here is the fix for the english/shop_by_price.php portion of the mod: <?php /* $Id: shop_by_price.php,v 1.0 2003/5/26 $ Contribution by Meltus http://www.highbarn-consulting.com osCommerce, Open Source E-Commerce Solutions http://www.oscommerce.com Copyright © 2003 osCommerce Released under the GNU General Public License */ define('NAVBAR_TITLE', 'Shop by Price'); define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Shop by Price'); define('BOX_HEADING_SHOP_BY_PRICE', 'Shop By Price'); define('TABLE_HEADING_IMAGE', ''); define('TABLE_HEADING_MODEL', 'Model'); define('TABLE_HEADING_PRODUCTS', 'Product Name'); define('TABLE_HEADING_MANUFACTURER', 'Manufacturer'); define('TABLE_HEADING_QUANTITY', 'Quantity'); $price_ranges = Array( "Under" . ' ' . $currencies->format('99', DEFAULT_CURRENCY), $currencies->format('100', DEFAULT_CURRENCY) . ' ' . "to" . ' ' . $currencies->format('349', DEFAULT_CURRENCY), $currencies->format('350', DEFAULT_CURRENCY) . ' ' . "to" . ' ' . $currencies->format('649', DEFAULT_CURRENCY), $currencies->format('650', DEFAULT_CURRENCY) . ' ' . "and above" ); $price_ranges_sql = Array( "p.products_price < 99", "(p.products_price <= 100 and p.products_price >= 349)", "(p.products_price <= 350 and p.products_price >= 649)", "p.products_price >= 650"); ?> of course you will need to change the price values as well as maybe extending your left or right column to about 125 pixels - unless someone can fix the 2nd decimal place prob...
