    Thanks for the fast reply. The server is Apache 2.x/Linux. Where do I add .htaccess? Here's the top 9 lines of includes/configure.php: define('HTTP_SERVER', ''); // eg, http://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers define('HTTPS_SERVER', ''); // eg, https://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers define('ENABLE_SSL', false); // secure webserver for checkout procedure? define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', ''); define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN', ''); define('HTTP_COOKIE_PATH', ''); define('HTTPS_COOKIE_PATH', ''); define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', ''); define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', ''); Again, thank you.

ULTIMATE Seo Urls 5 - by FWR Media

Hello, Thanks for your work and continued support. I installed the latest version on a fresh install of oscommerce 2.3. With the contrib enabled I get urls like this: http://www.discxpress.com/product_info.php/swat-close-quarters-battle-swat3-p-21. It is a broken link. With SEO Urls 5 disabled, the links work fine of course. Where should I begin to look so I can resolve this issue? Thanks

    One Page Checkout Support

Thanks for replying. The email issue is resolved when the browser is closed and re-opened. I guess cookies or IP logging may have something to do with it. With OPC enabled, the customer gets returned to the checkout page. With OPC disabled, the customer goes to the login page to either login or create account. I run OSCommerce RC2. I will try installing earlier version of OPC to see if code changes in the updates may have triggered the problem.

I use the latest version of OPC and CCGV. I may try installing one of the earlier versions to see what happens. It could be a caching issue or the way Internet Explorer 8 handles it. Thanks for replying.

    One Page Checkout Support

Hello, I've just installed this module and it's mostly functional. It's a great contribution, but I'm experiencing some minor issues: With One Page Checkout enabled: 1. If the customer fills cart and enter all required information, everything goes fine except when they click the continue button they're returned to the checkout page. No order or information is posted in admin. 2. The email field remains filled with previous customer's email address. The next customer sees a 'Email address already exists, please login to use a different address' message box. With One Page Checkout disabled: (OPC remains enabled and it seems to work better disabled in admin.) 1. If the customer fills the cart and enter all required information and click the continue button they're taken to the Create Account page. Once all the information is entered and click continue they're taken back to checkout.php the only thing that is pre-filled is the email field. 2. The email field remains filled with previous customer's email address. The next customer sees a 'Email address already exists, please login to use a different address' message box. 3. The order goes through, customers receive welcome email and all information goes where it should. I got the coupon module CCGV working perfectly and I left One Page Checkout disabled in admin so orders can come through. Thanks for any help given. I would like to get this working so the customer can feel safe and have more control over the checkout process.

    Header Tags SEO

Jack. There isn't anything wrong with your code, it works perfectly. Since I have a large shop, I needed to reduce the amount of queries so the pages can load faster. On a much smaller shop the code is perfect. I have over a thousand categories. There was some code that was querying the DB for each category separately. The code that was suggested to me simplifies this. Here's the suggested code for your viewing: $products_query = tep_db_query("SELECT pd.products_head_title_tag, p.products_id FROM " . TABLE_PRODUCTS_TO_CATEGORIES . " p2c INNER JOIN " . TABLE_PRODUCTS_DESCRIPTION . " pd ON pd.products_id = p2c.products_id AND pd.language_id = '" . (int)$languages_id . "' INNER JOIN " . TABLE_PRODUCTS . " p ON p.products_id = p2c.products_id AND p.products_status = '1' WHERE p2c.categories_id = '" . (int)$catID . "' ORDER BY p.products_ordered LIMIT " . (int)$silo['max_links'] . ""); I was worried about losing possible buyers due to slow page loads. I imagine if I only had 25,000 products or less then the page load times would be minimal. Thanks

    Header Tags SEO

Jack, My site was loading slowly until I ran into this thread that was started by Chemo. Then I installed Queries Debug Output v1.4 for osCommerce-ms2. It showed that the Silo Box available in Header Tags SEO V3.1.8 was taking 15.4 seconds to load. The query that was specifically addressed was: select pd.products_head_title_tag, p.products_id from products_description pd left join products p on pd.products_id = p.products_id left join products_to_categories p2c on pd.products_id = p2c.products_id where p.products_status = '1' and pd.language_id = '1' and p2c.categories_id = '3' order by p.products_ordered Limit 6 which refers to line 72 in header_tags_silo.php. I temporarily removed the Silo Box until you had a chance to look at the code to see if you can get it to load faster. Since it is your code and creation, I felt you were the best option to improve it. I didn't realize there was a process of optimizing store speed. How does page loading affect the way search engine bots crawl a website? I know customers will leave if it takes more than 10 seconds, especially the impulse buyers. That will cause a higher bounce rate. I have a large store and higher parse times could be a hidden enemy. Siloing is a great benefit according to research and I know you wouldn''t waste your time on it. I will be adding it again once I can get it to load faster. Thanks.

    Article Manager v1.0

Thanks for the reply Jack. Since I have such a large database, it's a strain on my PC when attempting to load a category with thouands of items. It consumes a lot of memory and causes it to freeze. Even with 2GB memory. So I found it easier to put a temporary product in the Xsell area in admin. Then I go to phpMyadmin and change it to the correct product by replacing the item number. It works well that way. I realize most of these contributions are made to suit smaller shops. It is what I'm looking for, however. I want to write content and relate products to my articles. Its good for SEO and consumers. I appreciate the advice on number 2. I will give it a try. Thanks.

I would like to know if its possible to cross sell products by the products_id instead of selecting the product from the drop down menu. Has anyone successfully done this? If so please share. 2. List of articles on index page-How can I get like a list of articles to show up on the index page? I want to show the five newest articles and a small abstraction. Thanks

You can go to Yahoo!'s siteexplorer and setup a free account where you can submit sitemaps. You can set up a free webmaster tools account for MSN search which is now Bing here. If you already have a LIVE.COM or Hotmail account you can use that account. They don't give you as much information in reports as Google but it will get them to notice you. Sitemaps are sort of standard so they can read your Google sitemaps with no problem. I hope this helps.

    It seems as if you've installed a version that is Header Tags compatible. If you don't wish to install Header Tags SEO then look for this in includes/application_top.php // add category names or the manufacturer name to the breadcrumb trail if (isset($cPath_array)) { for ($i=0, $n=sizeof($cPath_array); $i<$n; $i++) { $categories_query = tep_db_query("select categories_name from " . TABLE_CATEGORIES_DESCRIPTION . " where categories_id = '" . (int)$cPath_array[$i] . "' and language_id = '" . (int)$languages_id . "'"); if (tep_db_num_rows($categories_query) > 0) { $categories = tep_db_fetch_array($categories_query); $breadcrumb->add($categories['categories_name'], tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT, 'cPath=' . implode('_', array_slice($cPath_array, 0, ($i+1))))); } else { break; } } } elseif (isset($HTTP_GET_VARS['manufacturers_id'])) { $manufacturers_query = tep_db_query("select manufacturers_name from " . TABLE_MANUFACTURERS . " where manufacturers_id = '" . (int)$HTTP_GET_VARS['manufacturers_id'] . "'"); if (tep_db_num_rows($manufacturers_query)) { $manufacturers = tep_db_fetch_array($manufacturers_query); $breadcrumb->add($manufacturers['manufacturers_name'], tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT, 'manufacturers_id=' . $HTTP_GET_VARS['manufacturers_id'])); } } // add the products model to the breadcrumb trail if (isset($HTTP_GET_VARS['products_id'])) { $model_query = tep_db_query("select products_model from " . "'"); if (tep_db_num_rows($model_query)) { $model = tep_db_fetch_array($model_query); $breadcrumb->add($model['products_model'], tep_href_link(FILENAME_PRODUCT_INFO, 'cPath=' . $cPath . '&products_id=' . $HTTP_GET_VARS['products_id'])); } } then add the code in the instructions for Articles Manager after. I hope this helps.

    Header Tags SEO

Hello marleenverbeek, What Rafael meant was to run the headertags_seo_uninstall.php file then run the headertags_seo_install.php file. How to do that: First locate the above files in the Database_Files folder. Upload both files to the root of your website. Then run the uninstall file by inserting the URL into your browser's address bar. Example: http://www.mysite.com/headertags_seo_uninstall.php. After that run headertags_seo_install.php the same way. That should uninstall and then re-install the database tables for this contribution. NOTE: Please remove these files when you get finished. If you re-run these by mistake the results could be a set back. That worked for me. If you feel unsure about this solution please seek further assistance. I'm not an expert but this worked for me. I hope it work for others. Thanks

    Header Tags SEO

Jack, I've implemented the Siloing feature in the latest version, which is a neat addition. While doing some reading on the web there were two approaches discussed Directory Siloing and Virtual Siloing. Both approaches are meant to help search engines determine the theme of the website and also aid in the ranking for both common and targeted keywords. From what I gathered, siloing helps spread 'pagerank juice' of higher ranking pages to lower ranking pages. From what I read, the goal of siloing is to develop a stronger internal linking structure by linking products of similar content to create a theme. I guess your approach is Directory Siloing. Is this correct? I don't want to confuse or misinform any followers of this thread. Please clear up anything I've gotten wrong. Now my questions. Does the siloing feature in this contribution suppose to list similar products in the same category at random or just the first few in that category? Or How did you intend for this feature work? The reason I ask is to determine what adjustments, if any, I need to consider. -------------- Also, what file(s) I need to edit to create new special words? Thanks for your help.

Jack, I have a question about the special word ITEMNAME in the Generic Override section. That is a great idea. Could the code be changed to place the item price and UPC in the description? Maybe something like ITEMPRICE (to help improve click-through in organic search results) and ITEMUPC (to possibly improve placement and impression in keyword search results). If that could be done, which file to change? Thanks again.
