    Official PayPal IPN Support Thread

John "Mibble" Oligario, i c...are there any pitfalls to using the auto-return in paypal, instead of the IPN contrib? Regards, T-DOGG

    Official PayPal IPN Support Thread

I need to be the devil's advocate: From what I have seen, most people install this contrib b/c OSC is not logging the order unless the buyer clicks on the "continue" or "return to merchant" button (which ever your particular paypal displays)...correct? (I could be wrong right out of the gate) Riddle me this: I turned ON my "Auto Return for Website Payments" option, found in the Merchant's PayPal configuration: Profile->Website Payment Preferences Then I updated the "Return URL:" to This worked like a charm without using this PayPal IPN contrib. The correct variables got passed, or whatever happens, because when it auto-redirected back to the checkout_success page, it still prompted the buyer to tick on the items that they bought if they wanted to receive updates...the purchase email was sent to the buyer...all paypal updates/emails occurred. All seems well in the world. WHAT AM I MISSING HERE? SEEMS TOO EASY! "TALK TO ME GOOSE" thanks in advance! Regards, T-DOGG

    Official PayPal IPN Support Thread

Just curious...does anyone know of any other OFFICIAL OSC "patch" contributions, such as this one? trying not to learn about them the hard way, as i did this one. :'( thanks in advance T-DOGG

    Official PayPal IPN Support Thread

THANKS!!!!!!!! Does IPN still need to be turned ON in the PayPal profile (and make the URL field blank)? Also, can anyone confirm or deny if we can test this with my test osc on LOCALHOST? Thanks again! Regards, T-DOGG

    Official PayPal IPN Support Thread

HOLY SCHNIKIES!!! Please don't make me read any more!!! Would someone pretty please tell me what URL PayPal wants in the IPN configuration to send its IPN "message" to? More specifically, here is what PayPal is asking for: "...and enter the URL at which you will receive the payment notifications below." AND, would someone also tell me why this is not in the 'Install Guide' for this contrib? Signed, frustrated (or blind)...help!
  6. did you ever get an answer to this or figure it out? what are you using now on the site you mentioned above? thanks in advance! T-DOGG
  7. Sorry Zeme! I just noticed your Fix to Chad's Fix (on the contribution page) which FIXED that delete issue... Regards, T-DOGG
  8. anyone found the line of code to fix the above issue....I have it too!!! there seems to be a space missing in the sql: products_options_values_to_products_optionspovt should be: products_options_values_to_products_options povt Regards, Siddall

Automatically send data feed to Froogle

This may help but it is kind of a general observation too! I could not get the txt file to generate IF the feeder directory, or whatever you use to temp'y hold the file before FTP, was located in a PASSWORD PROTECTED DIRECTORY....like my admin directory (or whatever you change the name of it to). Try a different directory... hth! Regards, Siddall
  10. STEVE, you appear to be correct according to the log file (have an excerpt of it below for your review)...the "Inktomi" spider is related to (or the same as) the Yahoo! Slurp stuff (that's a technical term) that you mentioned. [i may be easier to cut n paste the excerpt below into something that doesn't word-wrap] HOWEVER, the log excerpt below (which is Inktomi/Slurp specific) shows that when it crawls, it uses a different IP with almost EVERY link it crawls. I'll get 10-20 different IP hits (Inktomi-specific) within' an hour...a few times a day. Sidenote: it doesn't seem to be creating near as many sessions as it used to...but there are a few (search on osCsid). I don't know if anything can be done about this, but I thought it was worth noting, just in case there is something that I am missing or not understanding. 68.142.251.148 - - [09/Jul/2005:00:05:11 -0500] "GET /robots.txt HTTP/1.0" 200 806 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Yahoo! Dynamic SiteMap

    If I include the infobox that causes the issue, the sitemap looks like this: * Information o Shipping & Returns o Privacy Notice o Conditions of Use o Contact Us o Site Map * Custom o CREATE YOUR OWN o The "INFORMATION" infobox looks great...but under it is the "CUSTOM" infobox. It lists the "CREATE YOUR OWN" link and then a blank link under it...just a random bullet point. Here is the code for that infobox from ...includes/boxes/ <?php /* $Id: custom.php,v 1.6 2003/02/10 22:31:00 hpdl Exp $ osCommerce, Open Source E-Commerce Solutions http://www.oscommerce.com Copyright (c) 2003 osCommerce Released under the GNU General Public License */ ?> <!-- custom //--> <tr> <td> <?php $info_box_contents = array(); $info_box_contents[] = array('text' => BOX_HEADING_CUSTOM); new infoBoxHeading($info_box_contents, false, false); $info_box_contents = array(); $info_box_contents[] = array('text' => '<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_CUSTOM) . '"><b>' . BOX_INFORMATION_CUSTOM . '</b></a><br>'); //'<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_CUSTOM_RULES) . '"><right><small>' . BOX_RULES_CUSTOM . '</small></right></a>'); new infoBox($info_box_contents); ?> </td> </tr> <!-- custom_eof //--> I really don't see anything shockingly different...it is basically a ripe of .../includes/boxes/information.php. Let me know what you think!!! Regards, Siddall

    Dynamic SiteMap

Jack, The right column has my product categories and looks great! The left column looks like this: *Account *Account_edit *Account_history *Account_history_info *Account_newsletters *Account_notifications *Account_password *Address_book *Address_book_process *Advanced_search *Checkout_confirmation *Checkout_payment *Checkout_payment_address *Checkout_shipping *Checkout_shipping_address *Checkout_success *Conditions *Contact_us *Contest *Contest_rules *Cookie_usage *Create_account *Custom *Custom_rules *Index *Info_shopping_cart *Login *Logoff *Password_forgotten *Privacy *Product_reviews *Products_new *Product_reviews_info *Product_reviews_write *Reviews *Shipping *Shopping_cart *Specials *Ssl_check *Tell_a_friend *Dynamic_sitemap *Information o Shipping & Returns o Privacy Notice o Conditions of Use o Contact Us o Site Map Is that list of filenames with the underscores correct? The information infobox at the end looks good...and appears to use the filenames form filenames.php. Whereas, the long list is not. Do you have any advice? I also have an infobox that is basically a ripe from "Contact Us" and it choked on it...I had to exclude it. Even odder, I have a third infobox that is a ripe from "Contact Us" and almost identical to the one that chokes but it worked fine. That issue is melting my brain! Thanks in advance! Siddall

    Dynamic SiteMap

Jack, I am still learning about SEO and the whole spider/robot methodology, so forgive my ignorance. Since this sitemap is "dynamic" will it still have the positive SEO effects of a static sitemap? Will spiders still hit the sitemap and use it to hit all other links? Thanks in advance! Regards, Siddall

    SEO Assistant

Jack, Couldn't help but noticing that this contrib was your baby for most of the updates, according to the owners on the osc contribution site...and you seem to be doing most of the support on this thread. This is not a slam to the others who have updated the contrib but have you reviewed the updates made to the contrib after your last upload? At what level or version of this contrib do you run yourself/support? Thanks in advance! Regards, Siddall
  16. Steve, Can you talk to me about "Inktomi"? It's not in your spider.txt file...for a reason? It crawls my site ALL OF THE TIME!!! It has a different IP address with every single URL it crawls. It "appears" to create sessions also...however, I am not quite sure how to REALLY see what it is doing...should I look in the log files??? I am simply using my Visitor Stats contrib to see it. Curious about what information you might have on this. I have searched the forum but found nothing pertinent. Thanks in advance! Regards, Siddall
  17. I have v2.5.3 installed. Not a big deal...just update it manually. It is just weird that the "Default Title" updated correctly BUT the "Default Descriptions" and "Default Keywords" (just below it) did NOT update. No big whoop! Regards, Siddall
  18. This is regarding an issue that has cropped up a couple of times regarding the 'osCommerce : What'''s New Here? - Hardware Software DVD Movies' not updating thru the Admin: Do you think that is issue is related to the admin directory being password protected? I know that doesn't sound right b/c the files that are updated are in the catalog dir??? I am having the same issue. The files are 777 and there is no error. The REALLY weird thing...now that I think of it...is that the "Default Title" updated correctly BUT the "Default Descriptions" and "Default Keywords" did NOT update. Hope this helps! Regards, Siddall
  19. Stuart or anyone, Did you ever get a response to your post that I have quoted? Or did you (or anyone) ever get this contrib to work LOCALHOST? If so, is there a trick or step that I have missed? I too receive the following error when i click on a product or category: The page cannot be found HTTP 404 - File not found Thanks in advance!!! Regards, Siddall
  20. Found some posts regarding the error but no responses with a fix. Regards, Siddall

Automatically send data feed to Froogle

indicaz, Regarding your SEO URL contrib vs. this contrib...check out the post just a few before this one. Here is a shortcut: http://forums.oscommerce.com/index.php?sho...ndpost&p=648063 I hope this helps! Regards, Siddall
  22. Trying to get the contrib to work LOCALHOST. I tried to search for this issue but couldn't find it. Sorry if it is already out there. I am getting 404 Not Found errors (when clicking on a product) after installing the contrib LOCALHOST. Is this an .htaccess issue? Can you use .htaccess LOCALHOST? Any help/advice would be most appreciated!!! Regards, Siddall

Automatically send data feed to Froogle

Thanks for the response....and thanks for the contrib   !!! I completely understand...my suggestion is deffinately an "enhancement" and not a not a "requirement", at this time. (man...I sounded waaay too much like a consultant then :P ) Keep up the GREAT work!!! and thanks again! Keep us posted when this enhancement may make the cut. Also, if you have any info or advice on Froogle rankings, I would be most interested! The Froogle SEARCH does not appear to have the same intricacies as the regular Google search engine???? It appear to be mostly keyword based...would you be able to confirm, deny, or elaborate this??? (I may have missed a simple Froogle link that explains this...sorry if so) Thanks again CalvinK!!! Regards, Siddall

Automatically send data feed to Froogle

Mr. Calvin K, Froogle Feeder works like a charm...can't say the same for the Froogle export piece of the Easy Populate contrib (that's another story). I was wondering if you had any plans to update the Froogle Feeder contrib to work in conjuction with Chemo's "Ultimate SEO URLs v2.1c" contrib. Your contrib and Chemo's contrib "FUNCTIONALY" work together but the product URLs fed to Froogle are the base/stock OSC URLs, instead of the SEO'ed URLs. For example: http://www.your_website.com/product_info.php?products_id=65 Instead of: http://www.your_website.com/something-about-marry-p-65.html I ?THINK? a change to SEO URLs in the Froogle Feeder contrib might help Froogle SEO??? Please advise and thanks in advance! Regards, Siddall
  25. Would someone be able to post a website that has this contrib installed (working 100% or not)? I've been reading and reading but can't quite figure out if this contrib is what I need for my site....b/c I have some product names that are quite long... ...and from what i have gathered, the product name will appear in the url...correct? :'( Well...that is why I would like to see this contrib in action! I have NO DOUBT that contrib is great...as are all of Chemo's contrib's...I just need to make sure it is what I need. Thanks in advance!!! Regards, T-DOGG
