    [contribution] Simple Template System (sts)

Yeah, works fine with me in Firefox, too. My problem is that I won`t even GET a pop-up-window - never ever got one. Is that a commone problem? Ken
  2. Looking into the application_top.php: I guess this is the part that is responsible for the shopping within the non-list-display: // customer adds a product from the products page case 'add_product' : if (isset($HTTP_POST_VARS['products_id']) && is_numeric($HTTP_POST_VARS['products_id'])) { $cart->add_cart($HTTP_POST_VARS['products_id'], $cart->get_quantity(tep_get_uprid($HTTP_POST_VARS['products_id'], $HTTP_POST_VARS['id']))+($HTTP_POST_VARS['cart_quantity']), $HTTP_POST_VARS['id']); } tep_redirect(tep_href_link($goto, tep_get_all_get_params($parameters))); break; case 'buy_now_form' : if (isset($HTTP_POST_VARS['products_id']) && is_numeric($HTTP_POST_VARS['products_id'])) { $cart->add_cart($HTTP_POST_VARS['products_id'], $cart->get_quantity(tep_get_uprid($HTTP_POST_VARS['products_id'], $HTTP_POST_VARS['id']))+($HTTP_POST_VARS['cart_quantity']), $HTTP_POST_VARS['id']); } tep_redirect(tep_href_link($goto, tep_get_all_get_params($parameters))); break; As far as I can see there is no difference between the two. So I conclude that my idea of replacing the function "Add to cart" with "Buy Now" would not do a thing, right? Both cases actually utilize the "add_cart" function. But maybe they do it in the wrong way? Could the problem be that the difference between "add to cart" and "buy now" is the fact that one deals with quantity while the other simply always adds "1" and that this difference is not accounted for here? I mean, maybe it tries to pass on an quantity that is simply not requested, or a quantity is requested that is not passed on? Come on, that can`t be so hard - I mean, for me it is, but YOU know all this stuff, right? Please take a look... what`s wrong here? Thanks, Ken
  3. Am I really alone with this problem? Then what could I have done wrong? Please please help me... help me... Ken
  4. Hello all, I have following problem: When I buy a product from the Product Listing page through the "Buy Now" button, everything is fine. But when I try to buy a product from the Product View* through the "Add to cart" button, the cart shows up but the product has not been added. I read a lot and did some tests: - no, I don`t think it is a problem withe globals. - no, I don`t use SSL - so that`s not it. Let me tell you what contribution I do use: - STS - Product Listing with attributes (!) - German requirements - Globals patch (but only in the online version - I don`t have it in my local version, where the problem is the same, so I assumed it has nothing to do with it). I did one test that gave me a hint: I replaced the applications_top file in the includes folder with the old one. Suddenly I was able to buy via Product-list/Buy Now but not anymore via the Product View*/Add to cart. Just the other way around. So I assume the problem lies within the application_top file, as modified by the Product listing with attributes contribution. I even thought about a workaround: replading all "Add to cart" buttons/functions with "Buy Now" buttons/functions. I don`t know if this would help, but I would try it - I just don`t know how to do it! It seems (at least in the german forum that I browsed high and low) that this is a problem that I`m not alone with. What did I do wrong? Mess up something while I installed the contrib? Anyway, I really need help so I came here because noobody was able to help me on the german forum. If you want to test a early version of the store go here: http://www.kunstgewerbe-muecke.de/ Thanks so much! Ken Wood * (how do you call that - you know: you go "into" the product to get more details - same place you land when you go to a product via one of the boxes - sorry, I`m no native speaker)
  5. sorry - posted twice - no way to completly wipe it? seems so. Ken
  6. Well, thanks for the info - that`s something I was just about to ask... Too bad though that it wouldn`t work because that would be great imho. Though there is one thing that wouldn`t work: While I can "Buy now" form the listing I cannot "add to cart" in the indivudal product view. Is it just like that or did I make a mistake? I guess I made a mistake (which?) but if not and it is just like that I`d like to turn of the individual product view and make every link (like from "Bestsellers" jump right into a list like display of the product. Help would be much appriciated, here is the current versions: http://www.kunstgewerbe-muecke.de Thanks! Ken

Good News! I really think all contribs should be developed STS-friendly ;-) Ken

I think there is at least one contrib for this. I did use a non os-commerce related script for it though. While it does work I didn`t figure out how to make it fill itself with the categories from the database automatically so I attached the linke manually. Not very elegant, guess there are much better solutions... Ken

Excuse me, I don`t get this question. Do you mean how I adjusted my sts template? Ken

I guess when index.php is parsed it requests settings from the sts_template. The file "index.php" is certainly not changed whenever you change the file sts_template, if I understood it right. No matter what it shouldn`t be a problem, right? Ken

I think you misunderstand something here: the sts_template is not a starting page, it is used by the starting page, which is the index.php in the root. So if you want to start with the template you probably mean to say you want to start with the index.php, which would be the starting point anyway. Hope to have been of help. Ken
  12. OK, reply to my own message: Yes, it looks as if STS and PLwA can be merged. I have not run a full test yet, but it looks good. The one file you got to be careful with is in the includes folder: application_top.php This is the only one that both contribs are changing. But luckily the both change different sections of the code, so it can be merged. Another thing regarding PLwA: There are two index.php in the zip. You need both! Don`t throw away the older one! (as I did) Ken

I am afraid you are right. I would love to help, but I am only a beginner myself. Where are the helpful experts? Maybe we are just too many people trying to learn and too few that already know and are tired of answering questions. I suggest you try to write pm`s to the people who wrote the contributions, it helped me once already, Ken
  14. Another dumb newbie question: I would like to install the contribution "Product Listing with Attributes". I already use STS. My first question would be if anybody has done this already and if it is possible at all. Well, let`s assume so for a moment and go for question number 2: Once I downloaded the contribution and read through the .txt file I was dumbstruck by the following: The zip-file includes a number of files that I ASSUME (!) are there to replace the equally titled files already in the original installation. Further it gives a lot of advices which lines to change in files, but again refering to files that are amongst the ones to be replaced. Now, do I understand this correctly: Possibility A) I can either make the changes to the code of the files by hand OR Possibiltiy B ) instead of doing this manual work simply could replace the files with the ones included OR Possibility C) it`s a mixture of both, but the system within it has yet escaped me. Hmmm.... any idea? If it is my lucky day it would mean B ), because some of those files refered to have already been replaced by STS, so to replace them again would kick out the STS-contrib. And if it is REALLY my lucky day the code to be replaced is one that is not touched upon by STS. Oh, I guess I need a bag full of horseshoes for this to work.... ... OR some advice from the experts which would surely be very much appriciated. Maybe people that did work on this contrib could share their thoughts to, as there are: Jeff Stewart (the original inventor) Diego Calvo and Ryan Xmatik (who further modified it). As for the last modification by a certain "hk", I am not sure if it really is one or simply a reposting of the files with a request. Another file question: the index.php is twice in the zip-file, I assume I should only use the newer one, right? Thanks so much! Ken Wood

I just managed to incoporate the fw_menu.js into the sts_template.html. Yeah! The problem was that the external javascript files were placed wrongly. For everybody who encounters this problem: those scripsts certainly have to be put into the root not the includes folder! Now I see my next challenge and another problem on the horizon: First the challenge: I`d just love to get the menu filled dynamicly. How can I draw the catergory and subcategory data into the script? Then the problem: Let`s forget about the challenge a moment. Wouldn`t I have to have this javascript be generated instead of it being a fixed item? I heard about similar problems of session-cookies not getting passed by using such menus and thus the customer looses his log-in and cart-content and the like. Do I have to modify here? Anyway, as an example here is a line from one of the javascripts being used, this one fills the menu: fw_menu_1.addMenuItem("Subcategory whatever","location='index.php?cPath=1_6'"); Thanks, Ken :sweating:
