Just installed the latest version of this addon and have the following error when selecting the sort by name option.

1054 - Unknown column 'c.name' in 'order clause'

    select c.categories_id, c.categories_image, cd.categories_name, SUBSTRING(cd.categories_description, 1, 1000) as categories_description from categories_description cd left join categories c on c.categories_id = cd.categories_id where c.parent_id = '0' and cd.language_id = '1' order by c.name limit 12

    [TEP STOP]

  2. The whole process is automatic and the downloads are available on the customers return to the website after making payment. There is no email link sent as they are not required. Once set up the system does everything for you. The actual setting up of the downloads and the use of the system has not changed over the years so if you can find a tutorial on setting up downloads it should almost be the same to setup regardless of your oscommerce version.

Ok so Authorize is too expensive for them..... Yarkkk !!! lol....

    Paypal is less ??

Can we setup Paypal to use Visa and Mastercard credit card only  ??

All the information you require about using PayPal is available on the PayPal website. Have a read on there. It will explain more than we can here.

PayPal will close any accounts that they deem to be breaking their rules. They close accounts of those that are getting lots of charge backs, If you follow their extensive rules and behave yourself you should be fine. The only downside with PayPal is the cost, but there is no monthly fees with express and standard so you only pay for what you receive. You can also get your money in a few hours into your bank account as long as you have over the free transfer value in your account.

  4. Yours is a very difficult question to answer when only you know what you want a payment provider to do for you.

Try speaking to your bank as they will have an option for you. Failing that lots of local searches on the internet to find a provider that you can afford as costs will vary wildly and will be dependant on sales totals.

There are many modules for oscommerce for most of the main providers which all work. You have to decide which one to use. They are all relatively easy to set up in your store. Where they vary will be in their backend which is where you see all your transactions on their website.  PayPal is by far the largest and most popular for smaller businesses but they do say that once you get to over 500 dollars in sales, then there are cheaper options out there. You can get to your money quickly, but be aware that they can close your account down with no warning.

I already use this addon, and it has saved countless hours in getting customer details and addresses almost 100% correctly formatted.

Whether it would be better as a hook or header tag I have no real preference, but a header tag may be easier with all the core pages that the hook code would need adding to. Also having less core code changes may make upgrading the store easier in the future, unless it is possible to alter the core files required for a change automatically, which i very much doubt.

I seem to remember that I had a similar problem when I installed this addon. What I cant remember is what I did to correct the fault. The only thing I can see different from the instructions is that I added the css code straight into the user.css file, and its still there. That may be all I did, or I may be totally way off base.

I will take a look, but by the looks of it, it uses a drop down menu which is what I was trying to avoid. My customers are not the brightest and when I had just a drop down menu I had so many complaints that they received the wrong items. Having to click below an image stopped the complaints.

Still I may give it a go again.

  8. I have just uploaded a package that allows this addon to be used with the bootstrap gold version.

To make it simpler to do I did have to remove a few features such as the number of images per row as that is now controlled by bootstrap on different devices, and also the pop up image as I never used it or saw the point of it. This greatly reduced the number of available tables that had to be changes thus simplifying the code.

The admin side has been left alone apart from the removal of the un-needed sql code for the two options that were removed.

The instructions have also been updated and are hopefully correct, as very little needed to be changed.

What needs to be done next is to modularise the whole package and make it into a module once the base code has been updated for the product info page.

  9. The addon QTPro allows stock control on attributes, and there are others in the addon area, but whether they will do exactly as you require you will have to find out.

There are also some master products addons that allow one product to be sold with other items to make a package of parts, but whether they can control stock I have no idea.

What Gary is saying is to go to your admin area and go to content - modules and make sure that you have turned on product downloads otherwise the module will not show downloads on the checkout success page. If its not there you need to click on the install module button in the top right hand corner of the page and install the module then activate it.

If you have it already installed then you may need to uninstall that particular module and reinstall it again.

Jack I just updated to the latest version and all seemed to go well with the update. I did notice that on creating the new site maps the page returned the following errors at the top

Notice: Use of undefined constant DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG - assumed 'DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG' in /home/railway1/public_html/googlesitemap/index.php on line 33

Notice: Constant GOOGLE_XML_SITEMAP_CREATE_TOPICS already defined in /home/railway1/public_html/googlesitemap/index.php on line 43

Notice: Constant GOOGLE_XML_SITEMAP_MANUAL_IP already defined in /home/railway1/public_html/googlesitemap/index.php on line 43

There is also two entries for Manual IP in the configuration page which look identical. Cant understand why as there is only one entry in the sql file.

Also after running the sql file there was this warning at the top of the page

This table does not contain a unique column. Grid edit, checkbox, Edit, Copy and Delete features are not available.

Apart from that all seems to be working fine with new sitemap files created.

  12. Although this thread is not really the place to discuss this, personally I think all addons should be updated to work on the latest version. Now whether the addon creator does this or someone else, it does not matter. It should be made possible that addons are unlocked in the addon area so others can add to or improve the original code if the addon creator does not have the time, without the need to create a whole new addon which will cause confusion. This would be a benefit to the addon, oscommerce and future users.

Now that sounds really simple, but there has to be some form of quality control, and that should be done by the original creator. If the new uploaded code is good and only a minor update the code should stay, but if it changes the addon greatly it should be moved to a new area. If the addon cannot be added to by anyone other than the creator, the creator should be able to be contacted by people that update the code and then have the option to updating the addon. Again this can be done directly or through the support forum for the addon.

If an addon is not updated it is bad for the user and the addon. It causes confusion and also makes people ask question that are unnecessary in the forums.

Just make sure that you also alter your privacy policy and cookie policy to comply with the legal requirements also. They can also be found by searching using something like google - other search engines are available.

There are also regulations regarding what you can and cant do on your website and what text has to be on certain buttons on the checkout pages. The more you dig into EU regulations the more you will find that you need to do.

The EU also regulates your return policy so that ought to be compliant also.

  14. Have a read of the following thread. It may help you.

    http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/410451-time-to-get-secure-if-you-havent-already/page-4

I followed this tread when changing my site over to https on every page and it worked fine, but it was harder than just changing the configure files.

I also had a problem with one box on the site and only in chrome

    http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/410571-security-padlock-warning-error-in-only-chrome-on-https-site/

I also had to resubmit the site to google webmaster tools using the https rather than http, and also create new xml sitemaps that had to resubmitted also.

By the way I just clicked on the link for your site and there was a large certificate security warning so you should make some changes quick.
