  1. Just out of curiosity, is there a way to make the area where the card details are entered look a bit better. At first glance I didnt quite know where to enter the card number, and if I didnt know I am sure some of my older generation customers wont know either.

  2. Just uploaded and installed this addon.  After having an error which was my fault as I missed a file out when uploading to server, everything seems to be working well in both live and test mode.

    Many thanks to those that wrote the module and tested it. I wish there was a way to buy someone a beer.

  3. I had a similar problem but it was on a very small scale. I send very few items by courier and then very few are heavy items, just over the 2kg limit of a small parcel with Royal mail so courier costs are not that high.

    I decided to keep things simple and just added a small percentage onto the cost of all courier deliveries to cover the additional costs to the far flung corners of the UK. I then push no additional charges for these far flung places.

    A bit of a cheat and not what you wanted, but it gets around a problem and looks good to those in the funny places in the UK that couriers dont like.

    Has anybody got any updates, tricks or soluitions to making Stripe payment module and Oscommerce work properly to satisfy the upcoming "  Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) " rules being introduced in September ?

    I have been using Stripe within my OSC shop for about a year now and other than a slightly longer wait for payment than some other services it seems to work well and I cannot fault them ( I know others complain but I have had no issues to date )

    I had a poke around the web and cannot find an obvious answer ( or not understand one if it is there ! )

    Some people mention some add ons but again am not sure to what they refer to and whether they would help with this issue or not

    I am happy enough to exchange some beer tokens for the right help if somebody knows how

    I tried a while ago to get a developer to recode the module, but not one that I could find would actually do it and allow the code to be released on the forum for free or donations. In the end I gave up. Hopefully something will be done before the deadline as I got another email today from Stripe letting me know I needed to do something. All we can do is wait and see.

    Does anyone know of a royal mail shipping module? I know there is the one below but it is 7 years old and for v2.2

    https://apps.oscommerce.com/UZ8bn&uk-royal-mail-overseas-shipping-method&p=2

    Thats the addon that I use for my RM shipping. I do only send out either large letters or small parcels up to 2kg so it was easy to adjust the price brackets to suit my site. There is no parcel size option as used by RM now but it can be made to work. I have set the site to show different options depending on total cost of the order as RM compensation is so low now, (over a certain cost only signed for shows) but again have no problems. Customers love that it is easy to use and selects to what is available depending of weight and order value. Any orders over 2kg use a courier module that was in the earlier version of this addon, but for some reason was removed. Just get the files from an earlier version.

    Its just a shame that there is no third zone for international postage which is something that I may look into creating.

    Updating prices is easy once you get the hang of the way they are listed.

  6. Already have a BACS module on the site. Its the littlest used of the payment options that we offer, but great when it is used as no fees to pay. PayPal is the second most popular as that's what people recognise and Stripe is the most popular for card payments for now until the module no longer works as payments will be refused. Have removed cheques since the local branch closed and its too far to drive for one cheque.

    May have found an alternative if there is no one that feels that they can update the Stripe module. I have even put the job on People per hour and got many replies but very few that could answer the follow up questions so that didnt work.

  7. @JcMagpie Been using them for ages now. Cheaper than paypal and as I found out one day great customer support. No complaints here. Just have to be patient and wait for your money, but that will change apparently when the new modules are used as the risk for the processor changes.

    Opencart module has been updated as have a few others so some can do it. Above my pay grade though.

    Code does look a nightmare though. Hoping @HPDL gets on to this as he is now back. Other payment modules may also need changing to comply, but who knows.

  8. I received the following in an email from Stripe. Dont know how it changes things but if two factor authentication is required a new module will be required.

    Speaking to Stripe they say I need to speak to a developer, but as I have already tried that looks like I and many others may need a new module or a new cart.

    On 14 September 2019, a new European regulatory requirement called Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) will introduce two-factor authentication requirements for many online payments in Europe. We expect this regulation to be enforced in the UK regardless of the outcome of Brexit. Payments that aren’t authenticated will be declined by your customers’ banks.

    We’ve released a new payments API and SCA-ready products to help you prepare for this change. To get ready for these new rules and avoid having many European payments declined, you’ll need to make changes to your payment flows and Stripe integration by 14 September 2019. Read our docs to learn more about SCA and the required changes.

    I think it would be great to make a package (called frozen 2 or as you like) that has the new admin of @shetch and the Frozen version with its bug fixes so that new users can download them in one place.

    What the community lacks are periodic updates to show that the software is alive.

    I do not know if this is the best place to post it, but the work of @shetchis fantastic, it's the cooler in oscommerce for a long time and it would be great to integrate it into the Frozen package.

    What do you think?

    Best regards.

    Valqui

    It would be up to the developers of the BS4 admin and the CE version to get together and discuss this. It is one area that Gary openly admits to not having the time to do  too much with, but the code will have to meet his standards.

    The only problem I see with updating the admin are is that every admin module or report will also need to be updated. Thats a lot of work in someone fancies doing it, but none will.

    There is also no room here for another fork of the software. It just wont be allowed and any posts relating to it will be removed.

    May be there is potential for someone that wants regular updates to post the ones that are carried out on Github so the forum members can see what is being done. The CE version is constantly being worked on so there are loads of updates happening. We cant all expect one person to do it all.

  10. @mhsuffolk  Its a huge problem and one that I cannot see being sorted. As its a payment industry thing others are bound to have to be updated. I have tried to find a developer to update the stripe module and no one is interested. Tried on people per hour and only got unknowledgeable people wanting daft money or developers from oscommerce who are partners and wont allow to give the updated module to the community.

  11. I have been trying to get the Stripe Payment module updated fora while, but can get no interest from anyone that knows what they are doing. Earlier last week I received the following email from Stripe.

    It now looks as if the current Stripe module will no longer work after 14th September unless there is an update. If the module is not updated, myself and others that use Stripe as a payment method will have to move to an ecommerce cart that has updated their payment system. Is there one developer out there that is prepared to update this module. I am sure costs could be discussed.

    I also assume that other payment modules will need to be updates also.

  12. If you are using bootstrap version have a look in the language files for the page you want to alter.

    In the latest version of Frozen in the index language file you have

    // seo
    if ( ($category_depth == 'top') && (!isset($_GET['manufacturers_id'])) ) {
      define('META_SEO_TITLE', 'Index Page Title');
      define('META_SEO_DESCRIPTION', 'This is the description of your site to be used in the META Description Element');
      /*
      keywords are USELESS unless you are selling into China and want to be listed in Baidu Search Engine
      */
      define('META_SEO_KEYWORDS', 'these, are, the, comma, separated, keywords, used in the META keywords Element');
    }

    Its in lots of other pages, and if you create new pages it is easy to add.

    im not shouting theres just caps  i have to use caps  a lot  and forget to switch over are you really posting this fucking idot. Ifigured it out my self  i know how to code also and the person who wrote the damn script was an idiot

    Generaly its accepted that using all caps on a forum is classed as shouting as it is on most forums. Insulting people here will get you no where apart from on a load of blocked lists which means you will get no help from those people.

    As you seem quite capable you dont need peoples help or advice even when they do not know your skills and you never tell them.

  14. Whilst not really connected to this how many here have read about Geo blocking in the EU. These regulations state that no customer within the EU can be put in a position that discriminates against that person on price, amongst other things. Search for Geo blocking regulations that came into effect on the 3rd December 2018 as they make interesting reading if you have the will to live.

  15. I use Mailchimp. Gary did make an addon but he has never updated it to match their latest code.

    What I do its to export the customers that want the newsletter and then add those to the mailchimp list. Its a manual operation. Id just takes a while to manually get the two lists matching. There is an addon to export customers somewhere.

    There was an addon called mailbeez but thats not been updated for oscommerce for a long time.

    There may be a paid for one out there somewhere but whether it will work with frozen I have no idea.

    Apart from that I dont know of a working one that has all the bells and whistles.

  16. Although there are bundled products addons available you may be better off using a cross sell addon, or something that allows a customer to buy two items together at a discount price. Something like the better together addon, but it may require some code changes to bring it up to date. May be do a starter bundle that includes all the safety gear that is needed for a particular product.

    Forcing someone to buy something that they may already have will loose you customers, but its up to you what you try to increase sales.
