    PHP and the newest cPanel

I can see my hosts doing something like this soon. Siteground have been saying that they are updated all existing users cpanel account to their own system so something like this may happen to me soon. More reason to get on an upgrade I suppose.

Increase the gab below the logo and boxes

Add a margin to the bottom of the header area. Depends on what version you are using as to how to achieve it.

Stripe Payment Module Not Working (Phoenix)

You can also set your actual account to test mode and see all the information there to. Why couldnt you get the old Stripe module to work,. I have it working on an old test site and it tests fine, but as Stripe say it may cause payments to fail, but as SCA is not currently required it should not really matter.

    Thoughts on OSCommerce?

Try installing a copy and have a play. Its a five minute job to do for someone that knows what they are doing. You will then find out how deep you will be in.
  5. If you are not using the PI modules in Phoenix I have uploaded an addon to enable this type of page layout with only changing one file and creating a few new folders. Really easy to instal and use and can still use any standard content module that is created for the product info page. Addon can be found at https://apps.oscommerce.com/wilqp&better-product-info-page-layout-phoenix
  6. Before anyone starts I am fully aware of the PI modules available to some supporters, but some may not be supporters and may want a different layout to their product_info.php pages. For ease the PI modules should be obtained by becoming a supporter of Phoenix by paying either monthly or annually. I spent a while trying to change the look of my product pages in Phoenix but could not get the effect that I had in Edge. This is down to a change in BS4 compared to the older BS3. In BS3 it was easy to place modules next to each other in the product info pages just by using the sort order and content widths, but that functionality was removed with BS4. What this mod does is to replace the content block of code found in product_info.php from one to four blocks. One full width across the top, two in the centre side by side and one full width across the bottom of the page. Different widths of the centre two blocks can be altered in the product_info.php page code. It does change the code in the core product_info.php page and there is a need to create some new folders in the product info modules and languages folders. Once done any new module created for the standard product info page can be used with no changes. To fill the full width of the two centre blocks you should use a content width of 12. New blocks can easily be added to create greater page variation by adding similar blocks to those now found in the product_info.php file, and creating the new folders needed. Existing new blocks can also be moved around the page by changing product_info.php. Totally stand alone with one core code change to product_info.php. Has been tested on Phoenix 1.0.2.5 only but may work on other versions. Will not work on pre Phoenix code. Some of the modules in the images may not be available to non supporters. Available at https://apps.oscommerce.com/wilqp&better-product-info-page-layout-phoenix
  7. Just uploaded a new version including the suggestions made by @JcMagpie.
  8. This is just a simple sort of question. If you are using oscommerce in any form from 2.2 or 2.3.1 up to latest Edge or Frozen version, would you upgrade to the latest Phoenix version? If not why not? Be honest. I am not here to push one version over another, just trying to find out store owners reasons for either upgrading or not upgrading. If you would not upgrade why not?
  9. That code change was already done in the version that I installed. Your other code changed worked on positioning the button correctly but had to be changed in includes/modules/content/header/cm_header_search.php
  10. I have this working on a Phoenix test site and it works correctly. The only trouble being is that the search button locates under the seach box, but with a bit of negative figures in the css it sort of looks right all on one line. I dont think I had to make any changes to any of the latest code.

Does osCommerce work "out of the box"?

As others have said, yes it will work out of the box. Will it give you all the functionality you want out of the box.? No. You will need to put in a bit of work to find the features that you want and install them. With the latest Phoenix version that is not as hard as it sounds as most modules are one click installs. Give it a try, you may be surprised.

    Fake accounts

Thanks to those that helped with info in this thread. It would appear that after a few days all fake accounts have stopped being created and also stopped sending emails through the contact us form. I would like to think that this is because I installed the google captcha mod as before that nothing changed. I did change the time between sending emails in "action recorder" also. I now have a simple maths question, a captcha and honeypot on create account and contact us so lets hope its stopped them until they figure out a way around them again.

Just installed the above. Will see what happens now. Hopefully they will loose interest soon.

    Fake accounts

Over last few days I have started getting these types of new accounts at a rate of 10-20 a day,q and attempts to send emails. Haven't had any for a long time so it's being a real PITA. I have a maths question on the contact us form but nothing else. I have added a honey pot thing but that hasn't stopped anything just let's me know it's happening. This weekend I am going to find a recapthcha addon and see if that stops them.
  16. Thanks for that. I will update the files when I get a few minutes.
  17. This sort of got cobbled together with the help of a few people. I believe that it gave Gary the idea for the PI modules that he did as he was talking about doing something during our discussions, but I was aware that some may not be supporters and have access to those files. I have since played more with my test site and have further split some of the widths modules to allow for greater layouts, but it was such an easy change I am sure that others could do the same. What is the benefit of adding "row is product". If its worth it I could add to the current files.
  18. I have taken agreeing to terms and conditions away from the Create Account page and added it to the shopping checkout process. Makes more sense there. Even though many would not read them, they are there if they need to see them. They would not know if they have been changed from one order to the next, but they agree them. As long as I keep a copy of the terms and conditions which are dated when ever they are changed to comply with this EU legislation. I also send newsletters when changes are made but that does only get to those that subscribe to newsletters.

    I'm new to oscommerce

When I click download on the page that this link opens, after waiting the usual number of seconds I get the option to either open or save. If clicking on open the file opens with two files in it. One is called catalog which includes replacement language files, and the other is called Documentation_link.pdf. That is the instructions in PDF format. Are you sure that you have something on your computer to open zipped files.

    Unknown modifier problem

It could be that preg_replace has been deprecated in some versions of php. Have a read here. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/16367404/how-to-convert-preg-replace-e-to-preg-replace-callback

    Marketplace Category/Version Cleanup

I think you may get passed back to gary's last reply. Whilst its gary that is doing the hard work, it the store owners and developers who have supported him over the years with his 28 days of code modules and the Phoenix supporters. Without either of them oscommerce would not be here today. If it had been left to those that want something for nothing and are not happy with that so they want more, then there would be no oscommerce.

    Marketplace Category/Version Cleanup

What a load of old tosh. As this is someones first post I can only assume that they have been put up to it by someone. I can only guess who as its been a buzz for that one person to be negative and cause trouble where they can. A person that likes things for free and does little to give back. I hope those mentioned take little notice of the negative comments from someone who clearly does not know what they are talking about. Without the work put in by all those listed as expert programmers osc would not be what it is today. Some of those named have moved on and good luck to them in what they do but without then we would all be worse off. May be those that instigated this post would like to give the same time to the project as others have in the past, then we can all see where we are in the future.

    My Favorite Customer Scam Attempts

I know someone that bought a set of bathroom fittings (large towel rail, hand towel rail, toilet roll holder, toilet brush) from a suppler of ebay. She was explaining about how great these items looked in the pictures and even showed me a picture, and thought they were cheap at £12-00 the set including postage, so she bought one. She then bent down and picked up the smallest padded envelope that you have ever seen and tipped out the set. They were for a 12th scale dolls house. I almost wet myself laughing.

    My Favorite Customer Scam Attempts

I have had a few funny return requests in the past. 1. Customer contacts me and asks why the parcel they received was empty. They then insinuate that someone in the picking department must have stolen it. I explain that I am a one person business and I will check the certificate of posting to see what weight was registered when posting. The phone went dead never heard from again. 2. The item is faulty. I ask that the item is returned with a copy of the original invoice as proof of purchase. They refuse to return item, and I refuse a refund. Upon checking their details I find it was 13 months after they purchased the item. Never hear from again. 3. A customer accused me of sending a short coil of wire. He bought 10m of wire which is hand measured and cut from a large reel. I ask for the item to be returned with a copy of the invoice and it does actually come back but its in about 8 short lengths. The copy invoice is not even one of mine, but one of my competitors who I get along with. We both laughed about it now, but no refund was given. Customers do at time try it on.
