Add Text Input Fields to contact_us

So does this pass the data onto the e-mail sent to the store owner? I just want to make sure before I give it a shot. This looks like exactly what I need :) Thanks!!

    Customer Account Number Mod

What about using this account number to verify the account setup by sending this to them in the account created e-mail. Then provide a link back to the site where they must enter this "account number" along with the e-mail and password to begin making purchases. This will ensure that the customer is providing a valid e-mail address before they are allowed to buy on the site. Does anyone know how to do this? Or have any suggestions or ideas on how to accomplish the e-mail verification? Thank you for any help!!!

    IP on customers Orders

Here is what I added: 2) OK, now the fun part. What we want to do is to grab the user's ip address when an order is made and tie it to the order. The purpose is so that you could come back and say, for example, order XXX was made from ip address blah.blah.blah.blah. We must first add a new field to the table orders in your osCommerce db (this is easiest with phpMyAdmin). I created the field customer_ip_address TYPE=varchar Length=15. -Using phpMyAdmin you want to choose the table "orders" from the list of tables on the left of the screen that should show up once you log into your database. -Once you have clicked on "orders" all of the fields within that table will show up in a list on the right, along with some tabs at the top of this list. To insert the new field click on the "insert" tab. This will display an editable list of the feilds in your "orders" table. -Go to the bottom of this list, choose the radio button labled "Go back to previous page" and click "go" -This will take you back to your feild listing for the table "orders". Go to the bottom of this page and next to where it says "Add new feild: 1 At End of Table" click "go". -Here you will enter "customer_ip_address" underneath feild. Choose VARCHAR as the type and "15" as the length/values. Leave everything else as it is and click save. This has created the feild "customer_ip_address" in the table "orders".

IP logging in admin when orders are placed

Sorry for any confusion...here are more detailed instructions of how to add the feild "customer_ip_address" to the table "orders" for those not familiar with phpMyAdmin.
  8. This contribution was put together based on the code from 3 different people. It is fairly straightforward and easy to install. What this does is display the customer's IP address in the footer of every page they visit. Also you will be creating a new field in the orders table where the IP will be stored. Once installed you will be able to go to any order in your admin and view directly on that order the IP address that order was placed from. We all know this doesn't make it much easier to hunt down fraud, but seeing the IP may act as some kind of deterent to your average Joe who is thinking about ripping you off. Also it may come in handy to see where orders are being placed from. For me this is useful becasue I am selling intangible goods. the correct billing address will be required, but there will be no shipping address required. This will allow me to track the IP using the link provided below. I can then have a general idea of where the order is originating from. Contribution: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1198 I will try and answer any functionality questions you may have to the best of my ability. Customising Categories Tab v1.3

Tom, Sounds great!!! I didn't even think of using a background color for the table the tabs are in. I'll have to change around my header.php becasue I've got menu and category tabs in the same table...one left justified and the other to the right...so I'll have to make that tables seperate and 100% and assign them a class in the stylesheet to get this to work. To turn this off and on in admin as I add and remove tabs will be very handy!!! Also to control the color in the stylesheet will be nice becasue I have changed the colors to my own. Thanks TOM!!! keep up the good work!!

    Customising Categories Tab v1.3

Just curious... Has anyone come up with a way so that when you stack rows of the tabs they fill in the trasparent places in the tabs below so they don't look like they are floating??? I have a colorful header background image but would like to be able to have a few rows of tabs. Thanks for any info!!!

Dealer Zip code based distance locator

I'm no programmer, but would it be that much harder to implement this into OSC? I could just create an additional page specific for the "zip code checker", wrap it with OSC like I have other pages on my site. I'm not sure how you put the "dealer/store/what your trying to locate" info in but it wouldn't neccessarily have to be encorporated into the admin in OSC. Then I could link to the zip checker page from my default or wherever I want. I guess maybe you are talking about tying it into the SQL database.... Just thinking here....thanks!!!

I would love to have this modification!! I am selling wireless and have limited markets. It would be great to have this so a customer can check and see if we are available in there area, and to find a store nearest them. Is this something you are still working on? Thanks!! Boy would this be grande!!! :D :D :D

    Customising Categories Tab v1.3

Zip, I installed your menu tabs as instructed and did change the one line to tab_menu for the admin area in application_top. However when I place the code in the header.php my entire header keeps dissapearing....I'm not sure what the problem is. I tried putting it in different places in header.php but still...as soon as I add that code anywhere...I get nothing. One more question...the stuff to add to the stylesheet...do I put that into the thema stylesheet that I am using?? I put it in both. The thema stylesheet and the one in the catalog directory. Thanks!!! Can't wait to get it working!! -Richard
