Automatically send data feed to Froogle

It's up to 169 products now and still no images. My feed initially took around 2 days to show up in its entirety, when I upload new files they can take 3 days or more to fully replace what's there. I have no idea why your images aren't showing though. Sorry. Regards Peter
  5. Please, please, please tell us how. I've been trying to do this for months! Thank you in advance. Peter

I agree with Vger. Due to the nature of our business (computer/electonic goods) we get a lot of customers coming to the site and going all the way through the checkout just to see what the final price ends up like. These people will often click on the PAY button just to see what further info they are going to have to add. These customers then go off and compare our prices to other site/stores and sometimes come back to purchase the item, often they don't though. If an order was created before they paid for the item, we'd end up with hundreds of un-completed orders every month sitting in our orders list making it look like we were doing more business than we really are. I have installed the Visitors Webstats Contribution which gives me pretty good tracking of where visitors have come from and what pages and products they've looked at. I may also install the 'recover cart contents' contrib at some point just to help me see what products customers 'almost' purchase but the Visitors webstats helps with this anyway. As to whether or not the HSBC contrib 'should' create the order before sending the client to the HSBC site... maybe it 'should' give the store owner the option of creating the order first if the want, but it would probably take some heavy sweet-talking to get someone to do it (or a few dollars!). If you are having problems with orders not getting recorded after payment, you could talk to ribs (Neil Westlake). He fixed some stuff for us and is VERY good. Highly recommended! He may be able to help. Happy Easter Peter

Hi Ruslan, I'm no expert at these things but my understanding of STS is this: When index.php is called, it has to display something. As standard in in osC, it calls various files, which hold the diaply layout for different areas of the page, and builds the page from them. This is a fairly tricky process to visualise for many of us so this contribuion was created to allow you to create a 'template' in an HTML page, thus allowing you to create it in a WYSIWYG editor so you can see where everything is going and what it will look like. This 'template' then replaces the calls that index.php has to other files to tell it how to lay out the page and instead completely controls the layout. So when you make changes to sts_template, it doesn't actually alter the index.php file instead, when index.php asks it how to lay out the display, it will instruct it to lay out the page however you have specified. It works superbly well in my opinion and can also provide different layouts for different pages. For instance, we have a different page layout for our Checkout pages than for our product pages just to make things fit on the screen a little better. I hope this has helped Regards Peter
  9. Hi, I have tried installing it but the button that should appear to allow the switch does not appear. Could this may be an STS problem. Has anybody tried had this problem? Regards Peter

Has anyone tried adding the 'Switch between inc VAT and exc VAT' contrib? It basically permits the user to select whether or not the want to see the prices on the site with tax included by use of a button situated somewhere on the site. I can't seem to get the button to appear. I was wondering if maybe it was something to do with using STS? Regards, Peter

Automatically send data feed to Froogle

Hi, I've trawled though a lot of this list but can't find the inrofmation I'm looking for. I'm sure it's there but the words start to swim before my eyes after a while! I have 2 issues: 1) Froogle doesn't like my feed because some of my products are services (warranties, webhosting etc). How do I exclude certain categories from the feed? 2) Froogle doesn't like the fact that I have 'Duplicate items' ie items with the same name. I know that I should really go through and change their names but there's hundreds of them (eg Ink Cartridge or black toner). Is there any way around this? Could the feed maybe add the product model number to the name when uploading? Many thanks for any help you can give. Regards Peter

Mark, As far as I can see, you should be able to use urls such as includes/sts_templates/images/layout/image1.jpg. This is the same as the URL you suggested just with th includes/ at the begining. I have all my images in the standard images folder so I just use images/image1.jpg but you should be able to use the path to your chosen folder as I suggested above. I'm no expert in these things so for my curiosity and everyone elses sake, please post back whether or not this workd. Thanks Peter
