    USPS Labels not working

I believe the USPS is now actively trying to stop scripts like this. They are including a hidden value in the form that has to be handed back to their script before they will accept the input. That hidden value is generated by them and we can't recreate it. Somebody in another thread (or earlier in this one, don't remember exactly) said they got a message back from their support people saying as much. I think this script is dead. Put a fork in it and start looking at DHL. They have a published XML standard for creating labels.

Yep, same here. I've been trying to divine the order (zip, alpha by name, chronological) and none of them seem to be it. I think the USPS is just messing with us. Trying their best to get us to switch to DHL (or something else) and leave them alone.

    NPC VirtualPay payment module, anyone?

We are in need of a payment gateway for NPC's VirtualPay. After googling around I found about 4 (yep, 4) hits and two of them were posts here from about 3 years ago with no real responses. Has anyone developed/found one in the last few years? If not, I'm told the transactions are XML based. Is there a general payment module that might be easily modified to their specifications? I'm a pretty competent PHP coder but we just don't have the budget to be developing one from scratch. Thanks in advance!

We would use the API if it could purchase postage. It can only calculate postage and print non-postage bearing labels. It has no provision on actually purchasing the postage and printing it out.

    USPS Labels not working

HOLY JUMPING CATS!!! I think it works! Woo Hoo! I'll try using it this afternoon when we process orders. But on first blush it seems to be working. How in the heck did you get it to go? Thank-you! Thank-you! Thank-you!

Hey, can you post your code as a link somewhere. Maybe put it on your server and rename it with ".phps" so we can view the source. The message base seems to have clipped your code and not shown it all. I'm anxious to try your code. Just to be completely clear, this will allow us to print a label with the postage included? Thanks!

    USPS Labels not working

It's my understanding that you can request a sig. conf. serial number and get a label suitable for printing but you *cannot* purchase postage through the API. The only way is through a third party postage supplier. (Stamps.com or the like I believe.) We are actively investigating DHL. They have a nice XML based API that I can pay for shipping with. Their rates (when you factor in the discount we are getting from them based on our volume (100-200/month)) are comparable. I'll post more as I learn it. Oh, there is a shipping cost estimation module for DHL already written so we only need to develop one for printing the labels.

    USPS Labels not working

Typical for me, I started looking at the dark-horses (the little guys that are hungry and trying to make a name) first and looked at DHL. They seem to have some sort of web interface/API called ShipIt. I don't know much more than that but it looks like it might be in the ball park. We've been using Priority Mail but don't really need it to go that fast and DHL ground is close in price. And their 2nd day air is pretty good compared to Express. Call it a first blush but it looks like they might be worth further exploration. (When I get a few spare seconds...) Well, back to copy/paste...bleh!

I looked into the new API and I didn't think it was able to actually purchase the postage. Only print the labels and request the tracking number. This is much better than nothing though! Keep it up!

    USPS Labels not working

Nope, not working for me. Still erring out the same way. Grrr... (For what it's worth: Firefox on Mac OS X) Pardon me while I go process my orders by copy/paste...

    USPS Labels not working

Ok, if the USPS is set on keeping us out, so be it. Are there any modules out there to print just mailing labels that we then just slap on packages? We would then use a PitneyBose(sp?) type postage machine to print the postage and screw the online system alltogether. I'm going to start actively researching other shipping providers. If the USPS is going to be seemingly hostile to us automating use of their system, I'll just stop using it. I really don't need this noise...

    USPS Labels not working

Is anyone else getting a new error when trying to submit a form? I'm getting the following... I've double checked my form and it's sending the correct fields to the correct URL. I've even looked at the cookies in my browser and it doesn't seem to be sending anything of consequence like a session hash. Is it using session variables now? This is getting really annoying them changing the system all the time...

    USPS Labels not working

Here is what seems to be a functional version of the differentshipping.php file. I've changed all the field names and redirected the form and it seems to be working for me at the moment. One extra addition, it puts the invoice number beside the return address. That helps in matching up our mailing labels with the already packed and numbered boxes. As always, absolutely *nothing* is guaranteed and use at your own risk, yada, yada, yada... http://www.saturdaybang.com/test/differentshipping.phps Later, --Dan

    Is USPS on the fritz?

I had a problem with several of the international shipping methods not working and defaulting to the first one in the list (The most expensive of course.) After changing the strings in usps.php in the $this->intl_types array it works like a champ. An easy way to check to see what the USPS is sending, start an order and make sure your shipping address is in Canada or something like that and look to see what is shown on the web page where you choose the shipping method. Make sure your strings EXACTLY match the ones shown. They changed the case of several words and inserted dashes instead of spaces in several other strings. Just wanted to share this with the rest in hopes it can help soneone else. Later, -- Dan
