    Absolutely, osCommerce can only thrive if it will allow developers earn good profit by selling apps and services.
    We are working on the infrastructure to support this.

    osCommerce-Official reacted to Hotclutch in How to configure currencies in V4 osCommerce
    If you use a currency other than Pound/Dollar/Euro then you will need to go to
    Admin -> Settings -> Localization -> Curruncies.
    This interface is simple and self explanatory. Its also very similar to V2 osCommerce. You should not have a problem adding/deleting currencies here, or setting them as Active and/or as default.
    Next you need to go to
    Admin -> Sales channels
    Click on the channel that you're using / configuring the currencies for. Click Edit.
    Scroll down to Languages & Currencies. Click Change. Make the necessary changes and click Apply.
    Lastly click Save at the bottom of the Sales channel page.

    Again I don't know, maybe I can ask my hosting company if they can see anything. Just had a go on the development version on their server and it's marvellous! I really can't wait to have it all up and running. So many things automatically configured that previously would have needed an app etc.
    For installation I use a totally blank folder as you say it all goes swimmingly until you press the final button and error message then nothing but a splash screen.
    Anyway now I've got access to a working version I can start looking up the manual ...

    Language Definitions are stored in the database and they can be edited from the ACP under Translations.

    It is possible to add the Breadcrumb widget to the corresponding pages where you'd like to see them. Please just choose the appropriate block on the page and press "Add Widget" and choose breadcrumb from the list.

    Ashley,
    Thanks for your feedback!
    Theme editor allows building new themes / templates using the set of widgets. There are "general" widgets that can be added to any page of the theme, and there are page-specific widgets (like widgets for the product page, shopping cart page, etc). It is indeed possible to build a new theme "from scratch" using the widgets.
    Alternatively it is possible to copy an existing theme, and edit it to create new one.
    In either way, it is possible to completely control the look and feel (or the "style") of each widget using the build in style editor or by overwriting the CSS directly.
    osCommerce will be supplied with more themes than were included in B1 and B2. It will be confirmed for the release (due in approximately 3 weeks).

    I did the installation now on my shared hosting account running php 8.0.15. There were no issues at all, other than a 404 notice on the last step, but then when you click complete, the Admin and the 2 demo shops are accessible.
    Tip: If you have copied the installation zip package into a folder called, lets say test, on the 2nd or 3rd step it prompts you to enter the install location. Do not put /test here, leave it as /
    Other than the step requiring you to configure the sales channels, there's no difference in installation between this and V2.

    Hello,
    Do you look the documentation : https://wiki.oscommerce.com/index.php?title=Installing_osCommerce_v.4.0
    Osc v4 is more appropriate on dedicated server, Tested on my local ubuntu and with IspConfig ubuntu server (OVH), work fine
    tested in this moent on Cpanel, I have a problem on the last step. On Cpanel, maybe with different hoster you can have some restrictions. I do not know if other people can share their experiences and if successful, share your Cpanel configuration to allow the people to test on their side.

    This is the second and probably the final version of the Finnish translation from me. The V4 is a little too complex for my needs.

    @jerrymeola
    You can search for add-ons related to your keywords criteria here:
    https://apps.oscommerce.com/
    There's not a list of all add-ons because it would be of no value to anyone, considering 20+ years of submitted add-ons. Personally, I have about 37 of my own.
    The new osC ownership expressed intent to revamp the add-ons site for osCv4 in the coming months.

    I've tried a number of installs now, with different combinations and had mostly errors post-installation. Try the following:
    Begin the zip extraction from your www or public_html (webroot) directory. Start installation from your browser and specify / as the starting point, not for example /catalog Specify Test for the Sales Channel and name it Test Do not add a suffix on the URL Include the demo data It won't give you a production ready site but does appear to set things up to be in a usable state.
    Additionally, check file and directory permissions are suitable for your environment - mine were set 'potty' during initial extraction and post installation. This can cause a 500 error at the worst, and error log warnings..
    SoftException in Application.cpp:249: File "/home/osc4osc/public_html/index.php" is writeable by group HTH

    Wordpress has a lot going for it but is not a shopping cart. So if you are looking to sell products it would be a mistake, in my opinion, to use it.
    They just released Beta 2 of it. There's no announcement as to when the final version will be out though they keep saying soon.
    It comes with a number of features that were not included in older versions. There is also a way to alter the appearance that they say is easy, though I've not had time to play with it. From their descriptions, the coding needed to make changes is far less than the older versions.
    Paypal is included. I'm not sure about USPS.
    You may want to ask in one of the threads where someone from oscommerce can better answer your questions, like this one.

    I shut down my website LONG ago. Not many sales even though I was on the first page of Google search results. I'm not a coder by any means of the word but I stumbled through all the updates, add-ons, etc...
    Since I still own my original web name/address am thinking of creating a site for my wife and one for me again. I originally was hosted at Bluehost and they even recommended osCommerce and offered me some support with it. Now they are setup for and suggesting Wordpress which I know nothing about for ecommerce use.
    Is v4 ready for prime time? Seems like not many forum post since 2021.
    Is the layout and theme easily customizable? Or will I need coding experience?
    One site will do fine with the horizontal menu in the header the other site would work better with the old "More Categories" style menu.
    Something like this along the left side of the site when viewed on a PC.
    Models
    Cars ->
    Trucks ->
    Motorcycles ->
    Boats ->
    Paints
    Testors bottles ->
    Testors spray ->
    Tamiya bottles ->
    Tamiya spray ->
    Etc...
    I'm in the U.S. and looking for PayPal payment method and USPS shipping method.
    I originally used XAMPP on my PC to test editing before uploading to host. Can I still use XAMPP or is there something else I would need?

    I started translating into Polish. Unfortunately, I can't do it as fast as Dr. Mary Calaveris (respect). The Polish language (like the others) is contextual. Many words and sentences have different uses
    in specific situations. So after the release of osCommerce v4, the translation will certainly need to be refined based on the facts. I attach files with the current progress of work for possible verification. I need comments and highlighted lines in the (.ods) file for my own use and verification after osCommerce v4 is released. I will try to finish the translation by the end of January 2022.

    Thank you 'domiosc' for thinking that I am an AI machine with capabilities to translate quickly. However, I am real ... and it took me several days and hours to do such work in order to be helpful to the community in assisting 'osCommerce-Official' to release a multilingual osCommerce v4 as quickly as possible. I have tried very hard to use Castilian (Castellano) Spanish as such is the formal Spanish spoken by educated speakers. If you wish to help and translate in the second language commonly used which is Mexican Spanish then kindly do so as it would be helpful, any corrections are easily able to be done on the existing left column.😁

    As we see Beta 2 almost ready, it is time to look into translation of osCommerce v4 in languages other than English.
    Following the previous post, we would welcome if members of the Community could assist with this task. In order to say "thank you" for your help, we will be happy to offer all additional apps created by osCommerce, that will be available through the App store to the translators, once the App store is up and running.
    Please find the texts in the attached CSV file. To translate, please just create a new column along with the "en" one, and put in the correct translation of the current English text. Please ignore all other columns but do not delete them. Once done, please send your translation to us via email ([email protected]) or via this Forum's messaging system.
    Thank you very much in advance!
