  1. I'm using http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/6856 (Product Extra Fields version 3.01) with the latest osCommerce. Also installed is Easy Populate. It's an online bookshop, with each category having two sub-categories (unabridged and abridged). When clicking onto the link to look at a particular category, the "new titles for [month]" appear correctly - i.e., with images, titles beneath the images, and prices beneath the titles. However, when clicking onto the sub-category to see the list of titles, there is a problem: I don't know why it is happening, but there is no title information displayed when I look at any of the sub-categories in the catalogue. What appears is this: Item Price Buy now ("Product" is changed to "Item" for this ecommerce site - more appropriate for a bookshop.) Below the heading of Item is the item image. NO TITLE INFORMATION is displayed next to this image. ... The same problem occurs when performing a search. The results returned show exactly the same display - i.e., the image of the title, the price, and a By Now button. Can anyone offer suggestions about what the problem is and how to fix this? I've attached a screenshot showing the problem (sub-category list without titles), and also a screenshot of the category display (shows the titles under the images)

    Extra Product Fields 1.0

Hello, I have the same question as I note others have asked. We've just realised that users cannot perform an Advanced Search on more than one extra field at a time. After searching the contributions, I found this Extra Product Fields 1.0 add-on which specifically addresses this. However, I don't want to be unable to use EasyPopulate which is frankly a GODSEND in making it possible to upload thousands of titles. Do you know whether or not Extra Products Fields 1.0 works with EasyPopulate?
  3. Hello, Thank you for your previous helpful advice; we've been using EasyPopulate with the Extra Fields contribution, and it is indeed simple and effective to use. The only problem is as regards the Extra Fields issue. We've just realised that users cannot perform an Advanced Search on more than one extra field at a time, and this is going to be a problem. I've searched the contributions, and found Extra Product Fields 1.0 (http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/6856) which seems to address this. However, I don't want to be unable to use EasyPopulate which is frankly a GODSEND in making it possible to upload thousands of titles. Do you know whether or not Extra Products Fields 1.0 works with EasyPopulate?
  4. Further: the contribution I am using for product extra fields is http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2202 Is this the contribution referred to in the documentation for easy populate? Or would it be better to use a different one? We've already got hundreds of titles entered with a large number of additional fields, but if the easy populate contribution doesn't work with this contribution, I think it'd be best to know now - and somehow convert the information in the additional tables so that we can use easy populate.
  5. Hello, Thank you for the fast reply. I may still run into a few issues, as the products are for a bookshop, certainly with in excess of 300 titles. The task of adding new titles will be ongoing (probably on a weekly basis, or at least on a fortnightly basis). From what I've read, Easy Populate would require the file to be split for download... but the upload seems still to be a potential problem - am I correct?
  6. Hello, I need to be able to download, work on (to add additional titles) and then upload the product information, including the extra product fields added by the 'Extra Fields' contribution. Will this contribution 'Easy Populate' be all right to use for this purpose? Do I need to change anything before installing it, so that the extra product information is also included when I download, edit and upload?
  7. Thank you, Burt - I appreciate the reply. I had gone ahead and played with a few contributions on a separate installation (my "play with it" installation), and I found the one that seemed to work best to produce what I had in mind was http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/1672. It's not EXACTLY what I was looking for, but since the libraries are supplied with invoice anyway (generated from the b&m shop's POS), it was most important to let the librarians know the total as they went along. As long as every librarian's account is set up with the discount, it works well.
  8. Hello - I have been working on getting osCommerce up and running for a bookshop supplying titles to libraries. I've managed with the help of some excellent contributions here to do the following: 1. Added extra fields so that ISBN, Author, Title, Number of CDs, etc., could be added the product descriptions; 2. Added a field for the librarians to specify some additional information; 3. Added free postage to all orders within Australia, with AP-specified postage to be applied to New Zealand library orders; 4. Included GST for Australian libraries and excluded it for New Zealand libraries. I think the last thing I need to do is add the ability to apply a discount to all orders, all products, irrespective of number of titles ordered. This osCommerce installation is at present ONLY going to be used by libraries, all of whom will be entitled to free postage within Australia and the standard discount clearly displayed. I've been looking through the descriptions of the Discount contributions and find myself confused. Which of the contributions will do the task? - That is, apply the discount to all products, regardless of whether free shipping is applied, regardless of the dollar amount or quantity, and with the retail prices of the titles showing so that the discount will only be applied and seen when the order's actually placed? (The order sub-total has to show the discount at the checkout, in other words.) I would value your advice on which of the contributions will perform this task best. Thanks in advance.
  9. New installation of OsCommerce... no other add-ons... I downloaded the Products Extra Field contribution (it seems very disjointed, very piecemeal, a bit from this and a bit from that, which is a little confusing). I can't discount that I've made an error somewhere, since working out what had to be downloaded and fixed and patched and so on made my head spin, especially since I was doing this mostly late at night. At any rate, the Products Extra Field option now appears in the Admin section > Catalog > - but when I click onto that, I get a "page doesn't exist" message. The link location is: soundbooks.com.au/accountorder/admin/FILENAME_PRODUCTS_EXTRA_FIELDS Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to fix this? Apologies in advance - I keep suspecting I've done something very stupid...

PayPal Express Checkout IPN Payment Module

Will do. I have just successfully completed a purchase in Sandbox. It works perfectly. I think I'm ready to test this live... Alex, I cannot thank you enough for this wonderful contribution and your helpfulness.

PayPal Express Checkout IPN Payment Module

You're right - I realised about 2 minutes after posting, and fixed it. The ec_diagnostics.php error still occurs when I re-run it.

PayPal Express Checkout IPN Payment Module

Hello, Alex. Since the last time I posted, I've been trying and TRYING to get the sandbox business email address verified... kept having no luck with it, and finally found that Australian accounts cannot be verified for Sandbox by the user. They have to be verified by Paypal people. (It took another two or so weeks to actually get the account verified, but at last it's done!) Now I've just installed this, and have both the sandbox and live API certificates... uploaded (hopefully to the right place). I ran the diagnostic, which resulted in YES for everything except for the following: I hate to impose on you, Alex, as you've already been so fantastically helpful, but... any idea why the error is occurring? The address, if you need it, is www.soundbooks.com.au/downloadshop/ - Ingrid

    [contribution] Super Download Store

Thank you for your advice, Alex - I'm just waiting for the business account related to this download shop to be verified, and then I will obtain the API certificate information so that I can proceed. Your installation guide is in a class of its own - lucid and beautifully organised.
  14. UPDATE for everyone else experiencing this very frustrating problem: This is a Paypal issue. Sandbox testing seems not to be enabled at present. Check this thread about IPN and Paypal's developer sandbox.

    [contribution] Super Download Store

Alex, sorry - I want to clarify this with you so that I make the best decisions for the download shop. Is YOUR PayPal Express Checkout IPN the best one to choose? What I particularly like with your contributions is the trouble you take to make clear installation guides and admin settings, which isn't always the case for other contributions. The purchase method for the downloads will be through PayPal, and I've set up a business Paypal account for the bookshop. The website on which the downloadshop will be has cURL and OpenSSL, as well as SSL installed. The business owner of the shop can accept credit cards, of course, but for downloads, it seems that going through Paypal IPN is the safest way, so that's what I'm trying to set up. It's a bit overwhelming having to choose between all the similarly-named payment modules, especially as it's sometimes not clear whether they are compatible with the newest osCommerce release.
