Need Step by Step for Return URL for Paypal Express

I seem to have PayPal Standard v4.039 working -- posted more in this forum.
  2. I seem to have PayPal Standard v4.039 working -- posted more in this forum.
  3. ironically, I uninstalled PP Express and install PP Standard module (these are v4.039). In "configuration" I entered only the "PDT Identity Token" and "PayPal Public Certificate ID", both found under owner's account on the PP web site. I left blank "Your Private Key" and "Public Certificate" (though I have one as a PEM file), "PayPal Public Certificate" and "Working Directory". This works for my "live" test order (own credit card) and now just received a customer order. I'm a bit surprised with so much of the config info blank. Not sure I understand the difference between PP Std & PP Exprs, and PP Exprs was certainly easire (at least more "sure" in configuring) to install. But I'm hoping that I'm OK for the time being with the PP Std. Did I mention that I could not get PP Express to work ?
  4. Hey, is this PayPal problem related to the more general problem with osC, of some servers handling "special characters" (e.g., "flower brackets"), and causing errors in osC shopping cart ? I battled that problem for a long time and with forum help, posed a fix at forum thread "Can't Add Products to Shopping Cart" with this excerpted explanation : " The original problem stems from the way that my host iPower.com -- and possibly others -- handle the "flower brackets" { } (restricted for some "security" reason, they say). These brackets are generated by osC code for URL's of products that are entered with attributes (in your shopping cart, hover over item titles and "REMOVE" button to see the URL's with brackets). Apparently, other hosts don't create this "brackets" handling problem. I'm struggling now to get PayPal v4.039 working (when trying PP Express, customer reports empty shopping cart at payment attempt) -- not sure if I should be using PP Express (osC v2.3.3 had worked fine) or Standard now...only need the simplest version to work.
  5. Just installed "PayPal App 4.039" a couple weeks ago, at the recommendation of Dan Cole on alternate forum Return URL for Paypal Express. I'd posted there with the same problem as the original poster there. I note that v4.039 updates the original "PayPal Express" module that is part of osCommerce v2.3.4 download, and that there's not the "API test" in the update. But no longer have that problem after this update (as far as I know). However, I don't think my PayPal Express is working even after this update. I've received periodic XML errors, which is some indication people have tried to enter orders (received only one actual new customer account created during all of this) but not receiving orders or payments. And one actual customer (has prior orders, has store account with me, has own PayPal account) reported that his cart is blank when he tries to pay with PayPal -- no order or payment generated. I tried to pursue this line of inquiry on the alternative forum but only received suggestions to use different versions of osC (probably not practical for me at this time, due to lack of required add-ons, etc.). I've not tried "sandbox" testing yet, as that looks to be a bit involved to set up (I'm sure that I could do it by taking time with PayPal support on the phone). PayPal doesn't see to accept my own credit card, as it has same name as my PayPal account. Just wondering if my problem description here suggests any quick flaws that I can check. I have my PayPal "return" page set to checkout_process.php.

Thanks, frankl, perhaps your info is helpful to the community, but doesn't seem applicable to me or similar businesses. You say "addons and mods...should be rewritten" : I would not try to do this myself (not a professional "coder"). And "only took 4 weeks" -- how many people working on that, with what coding skills, etc. ? That's not something that I would even consider, spending so much time away from my business for an unsure result, even if I had those coding skills. You say "2.4 it will be a snap - just install...upload our modules, turn them on..." but you don't mention the add-ons (or were you refering to v2.4 when you say "addons and mods...should be rewritten" -- I'm not clear). From my limited understanding of these upgrades so far, I'm not sure that I'll even be able to find add-ons for them that I require, if contributors don't update those. Makes me wonder if I'll be able to do any upgrade beyond v2.3.4. Frankly, frankl, I'm very confused about where this is going and how I'll fare. Am I missing something (rhetorical at this point) ? Nothing seems straight forward.

OK, frankl, thanks for the response. But I'm confused by what you say : "2.3.5, will be released shortly" vs. "Why wouldn't anyone want to upgrade now". Which is it...in the near future or currently available ? And considering the past time scales, exactly when might v2.3.5 be released (months, years) ? Perhaps a credible link..? Your promo above is interesting but why not at least post some links to whatever it is you're recommending, and maybe some good, reliable information about the products ? This thread is the first I've heard of these product references -- how is the community or prospective users supposed to understand these options and make a choice of products ? I'd be glad to look into this myself, but for my particular business, I'll need to be sure that the required add-ons/mods are there before I can consider any other version. Otherwise, I'm where I left off above.

Thanks for the reply, Dan, but not so helpful. My osC is modified, necessarily, with a few add-ons (e.g., Manual Order Entry, Quantity Price Breaks, others). Until I know that there's another system with the necessary add-ons or mods available, support, etc. its a "waste of time" to start into other versions of osC only to find that they can't work for my business. No idea what are "Gold" or "Edge" (you didn't provide links), and the BS version (someone else recommended that a while back) doesn't seem to have necessary add-ons. It takes days / weeks, even months to get a modified osC system working for my business -- very costly. I'd much rather get this official current osC version working, as it should. I seem to have only this PayPal issue at the moment, after overcoming other significant problems, and this should be fixable I'd think -- the PayPal add-on is advertised as fairly current. If someone here can address my question, I'd be grateful.

Need Step by Step for Return URL for Paypal Express

Thanks, Dan. I did go ahead and install PayPal App v4.039 add-on. I can see that, indeed, the PayPal Express version in this add-on is different (updated) from the native version that's supplied with the osCv2.3.4 system download. There's no longer the "Test API Server Connection" function, but earlier checks with my ISP and PayPal say that my SSL certificates are fine. However, I'm not sure that PayPal is working. I don't seem to have been able to make a test order with my own credit card, and PayPal says that I can't test using my own card -- they have some kind of block on any card with same name as PayPal account holder (thought I thought that I've been able to do this test in the past). I haven't had any successful customer orders with PayPal payment, and a couple of customers have reported problems (unspecific). This may be unrelated to PayPal, but my osC v2.3.4 "Security Checks" show errors for "Admin HTTP Authentication..not set up" (my "admin" folder is renamed and write protected, as recommended, "Config../Admin..Additional Error..." for .htaccess file). I've researched a bit and tried a couple of setting changes, but no luck fixing error messages. I'm also getting "Security Checks...Version Checker" error, but actual version check function shows "current". None of this seems to affect operation of the public store functions, and I can write orders for payment "by check" (i.e., no payment required to complete the order). Separately, I see osCv2.3.4 Manual Order Entry allows "admin" to enter a PayPal payment by credit card. Normally, PayPal does not offer this kind of service directly (i.e., a "virtual terminal"). Can you tell me if this Manual OE with current PayPal add-on will, in fact, allow "admin" to manually enter the customer's PayPal payment (instead of the customer making payment from their side) ?

Need Step by Step for Return URL for Paypal Express

thanks for your reply, Dan. No, I am not using the PayPal App v4.039 that you reference. As mentioned, I'm using the native PayPal Express module, v3.0, that is bundled by osC v2.3.4. I did not add-on any PayPal modules because I didn't see a need for the additional features described in them, and the original PP/E module worked fine in the past. I suppose that can easily add-on the PayPal App v4.039 as you suggest. Before I try that, I'd ask whether you might know if the osC native PP/E module is obsolete or why I might be having trouble now. Does there need to be a general notice about this, or an update to osC ? I'll wait for your reply, and will let you know my results afterward.

Need Step by Step for Return URL for Paypal Express

I'm stuck with the same error/problem as the original poster here. I have essentially the same error log email message - bad returnURL, bad cancelURL. I'm also getting "failed" error on "Test API Server Connection". Using osC2.3.4 with the included PayPal Express payment module (shows v3.0 in module). Have PayPal Return URL set to " https://mydomain.com/oscommerce/catalog/checkout_process.php (there's no "Cancel URL" in PayPal settings). I have "enable SSL" set to "True" in my osC configure files, as I believe that this is necessary for the rest of my store to function (from prior debugging efforts). I have an SSL certificate from my ISP that's checked as valid, and I also just tried downloading a public certificate from PayPal (seems to make no difference). Appreciate some response as I don't believe that my PayPal has been working.

New UPS XML Shipping Module available

...just got another pair of the same errors as posted in #2438 above. But this time, I had just previously edited the upsxml.php file (...includes/modules/shipping/upsxml.php) according to the instructions within that same file, at line 137 : // to enable logging, create an empty "upsxml.log" file at the location you set below, give it write permissions (777) and uncomment the next line $this->logfile = '/srv/www/htdocs/catalog/includes/modules/shipping/upsxml.log'; // to enable logging of just the errors, do as above but call the file upsxml_error.log $this->ups_error_file = '/srv/www/htdocs/catalog/includes/modules/shipping/upsxml_error.log'; I did indeed comment out the two lines (as shown above), created a upsxml_error.log file (by copying upsxml.log file and renaming) and gave full write permissions to the files. However, I do not see than anything at all has been written to either of those files. This is a somewhat separate issue, as here I'm just trying to get logging and error logging to write, so that I can see whether there are any actual problems or not. My original post #2438 above about error messages might well be due to customers (esp. those not registered in osC) not entering correct destinations -- can't know without the logs working.

New UPS XML Shipping Module available

Thanks for the reply. I'll look at any customer sign-ups that come in, but usually I don't see a new customer account (only rarely).

New UPS XML Shipping Module available

I have been getting these error messages for a long time. UPSXML Rates Error: 111210: The requested service is unavailable between the selected locations. experienced by customer with id on 2016-09-11 22:40:03 UPSXML TimeInTransit Error: 270032: Invalid Destination Postal Code and City experienced by customer with id on 2016-09-11 22:40:02 Note that there are never any details reported for “customer” or “id”. UPS support asks for error reporting so that they can troubleshoot for me. Can someone please be specific and comprehensive about how to set up the error reporting for shipping module UPSXML_v1_5_1 ? Can anyone decipher these errors ? I'm running osCommerce v2.3.4 (along with the USPS with dimensional support 6_52)

    USPS Selection Add On

I'm having a problem that sounds like the second post here. I did not understand your reply above....are you referring to a need to "sign up" for individual services on the USPS web site ? I am registered there but I do not see any place to specify individual services...if there is more to do on the USPS site, then please provide that link, at least. I did not see any referece to more than "registration" in the USPS Methods install instructions. I am running osC v2.2RC2 (not ready to upgrade until all the other needed contributions are available). I have repeatedly tried to install USPS Methods (first 6.0 and now 6.1a) from the osC modules/shipping list, have tried selecting and deselecting different service options, "removed" the module and re-installed it...all to no avail. I've also made sure that all the contribution files have been copied to the correct locations, and the SQL routines have been run. Here's an example of what my checkout_shipping page looks like -- notice the absence of the service titles (except "Library Mail") : United States Postal Service (1 pkg, 1.10 lbs total) Library Mail ---Insured for $9.53 ---Delivery Confirmationlt;supgt;amp;trade;lt;/supgt; ---Approximate delivery time from mailing date 2 days $5.45 ---Insured for $9.53 ---Delivery Confirmationlt;supgt;amp;trade;lt;/supgt; ---Approximate delivery time from mailing date 2 days $5.59 ---Insured for $9.53 ---Delivery Confirmationlt;supgt;amp;trade;lt;/supgt; ---Approximate delivery time from mailing date 1 day $7.90 ---Insured for $9.53 ---Delivery Confirmationlt;supgt;amp;trade;lt;/supgt; ---Approximate delivery time from mailing date 2 days $8.00 Also, note the artifct text following "Delivery Confirmation". Furthermore, selecting any USPS shipping service options will default to the Library rate only on the checkout page. However, I have the UPS shipping module working just fine (any of those selected rates will carry to the checkout page). So am I missing something on the USPS web site for my account ? Does this contribution 6.1a work with osC v2.2RC2 ? Do I have a database structure problem (I'm running php 5+) ? Lastly, do I correctly understand that USPS Rate Calculator V4 contribution is a separate and unrelated shipping method from USPS Methods 6.1a (et al) ? Would having attemtped to install V4 earlier (and then removing those files) have caused problems with the 6.1a install ? I have been using USPS Methods contributions for some years and want to stay with that contribution line... Thank you for your consideration...
