    OSC-Affiliate

I'm having two problems on a OSC 2.2 website which has OSC_Affiliate installed. It appears to be working from a user / admin standpoint, I'm having three issues 1. I ran a couple of test sales using an affiliate link. I can see the click-throughs in the affiliate admin area, but the sales are not reqistering. as affiliate sales. The system is set to not pay for a 30 day refund period, but I've looked in the database and I can find nowhere that the sales are stored so that when the 30 day refund waitning period is over, they'll be eligible for affiliate payment.. Does anyone know how that waiting period for refunds works and where I would see the sales that have been made, but aren't eligible for payout because they haven't yet passed the 30 day refund period? 2. Does anyone know how I can tell which version of the OSC Affiliate addon I have installed. There aren't any headers that state which version that I can identify. 3. Is anyone actually supporting this addon? Thanks.

USPS Rate V4, Intl Rate V2 (official support thread)

I updated to the current version and that fixed the problem. Thank you. Now, I have a question for you: We are signed up with the Post Office to receive email notifications when they make changes to their API, etc. - BUT we NEVER get those emails, so we're left scrambling when something breaks. Worse yet, this only affected small overseas orders, so we didn't even know there was a problem until a customer complained about the shipping (UPS to Greece is very expensive.) Does anyone else have problems getting the updates from the Post Office? What do you do to keep up with it? Is there a webpage at USPS.com we can monitor? I only have one customer left on OSCommerce and this i\really is driving us nuts. (The other shopping carts we use have automated module updates, so when we see a shipping module update, we make sure that gets applied immediately.)

USPS Rate V4, Intl Rate V2 (official support thread)

I found the problem, but not the solution... It has nothing to do with Greece. We ship everything priority mail. When a larger box is required for the shipment, it returns the correct pricing. When a small flat rate box is required, it returns the correct pricing from the USPS server, BUT!!! Then, OSCommerce is not recognizing it and displaying it. It works correctly for domestic, but not for international. So, it appears that there's been a service name change or something for international priority mail flat rate small boxes. I'm not sure exactly how the mechanism works. It appears that the USPS returns all options and then OSCommerce filters what to display based on the settings for the module in the OSCommerce control panel. Has there been an update recently to service names or something that would break this? It was working and now it's not.

We can ship anywhere in the world by USPS, except for Greece. Here's what's in the countries table: 84 Greece GR GRC 1 A couple of questions: 1. Is there an official list somewhere that I can use to validate this entry? 2. Is there a way to validate the entire country table or is there an updated table to replace the one I have? 3. Absent the above, do you see anything wrong with the entry for Greece listed above? Thanks for all your help.

I just tested Express mail small box domestic and international. The test server did not reflect the 10 cent increase in the small flat rate express mail box.

USPS Rate V4, Intl Rate V2 (official support thread)

We use this module. I'm looking at the USPS update which is coming on January 25th, 2014. The details can be found here: https://www.usps.com/business/web-tools-apis/welcome.htm (Look in the middle of the page for the release notes link) In reviewing this, I think the following pertains, and I would like a confirmation from others that I am correct: 1, It appears that this update does not affect this module unless you want to take advantage of the new services, which will likely require some coding to support. The module uses the V4 and International API's, both of which are being updated, so that is what I evaluated. 2. The price updates should be completely transparent and simply passed through as appropriate. 3. I do have a concern about this statement in Section 2.2.2 of the document pertaining to the V4 API: " Standard Post availability to zones 1-4 eliminated with exception given to mailings with hazardous materials, live animals or other ground only items" I'm not sure whether elimination of these zones will have an impact on what is sent to the V4 api, or how the response is handled. This sounds like an area where there could be a problem. 4. We need to test this very carefully both on the test server and the day it goes live because the post office has a habit of breaking things and inserting new garbage into api responses that break shipping modules. I will be testing and I will post any problems I find. I hope that others will do the same. IF WE'RE VERY LUCKY, we may be able to handle this update without any major downtime.

USPS Rate V4, Intl Rate V2 (official support thread)

VERY IMPORTANT. I found the problem I described above. The module comes hard coded with dimensions that exceed the dimensions of a small priority mail box. Before the most recent USPS update (which required the December 14th update to this module), the API ignored the dimensions and returned the small priority mail box for box domestic and international pricing. After the USPS update, the API ignores the dimensions and returns the small priority mail box for domestic pricing, but on international pricing, the API uses the dimensions and will not return the small priority mail box. SO, for the module to work correctly, with the dimensions in the API call in usps.php must be small enough to fit in a small box, or you will not get pricing for a small international box.

USPS Rate V4, Intl Rate V2 (official support thread)

Is anyone else having a problem with this module not returning the Small Priority International Flat Rate Box? I also noticed, that even with the "International Regulations" set to NO, the regs are still retrieved via the API call. The regs are not displayed, so the only problem is the additional bandwidth used on each query. We installed USPS Methods Rates V4 Intl Rates V2 - R3.1 (December 14th release) because the older version went down, I assume due to changes made by the Postal Service. This fixed the problems for Domestic (US) and appeared to fix the problem for International (Shipping internationally from the US.) What we subsequently discovered is that for international orders, the international small priority mail box is not offered to our customers when it should be. Shipping domestically, to destinations within the US offers the small priority mail box correctly. We found this workaround: we are using the Priority Mail unpadded International envelope instead of the small box. It appears that the price is the same for both the box and the envelope, so it does price the shipping correctly. (This only works because we have "rigged" the weights and measurements of products in our catalog so that when the shipment will not fit in a small flat rate box, it switches to priority mail with our own packaging.) I'm looking for some clues as to why the Small Priority International Flat Rate Box is not being displayed when it should be. Thanks.

    [Development] USPS Shipping Module

On the weight limits: We use them to limit the options the customer has from which to select. For example, we set a minimum and maximum weights so that the customer will not see more than one flat rate packaging choice. (With this customer's products, the weight serves as a good substitute for physical size of the products.) We use max weight on small flat rate box of 1.5lbs. Minimum weight on larger flat rate box is 1.6lbs. So, even though the flat-rate boxes are supposed to ship anything that will fit in them, we force a larger flat-rate box when the customer has ordered enough items that they won't fit in a small flat rate box. If it's over 1.5 pounds, it goes in the larger box. (If the total shipment is over 1.5 pounds, we know that they ordered enough items that they won't fit in the small box!)

Since you've done a comprehensive review of the various USPS modules, would you please render your opinion on my post #766 above? I'd really like to get this cleaned up before the USPS makes another change in the hope that further USPS changes won't break the module.

I had a similar problem last year and had to add some code to filter out the html garbage. Sorry, I don't have it to give it to you, but I think there are some posts here with samples of that filtering code.

USPS Rate V4, Intl Rate V2 (official support thread)

Thank you, @@kymation and @@wkdwich. Since we don't use first class postage, everything is now great and working. Jim, I think you are correct that the USPS has multiple servers that have not all been updated the same way. NOW: My client is going to be on OSC 2.2 RC2 for at least another year. So, I want to do something to prevent this from happening again. I think the problem with this module breaking is that it is using the service name text strings (which change) instead of a permanent key. I think this because our Prestshop stores don't crash when the USPS makes there changes. (I haven't looked at the API). BEFORE I DIG INTO THIS FURTHER, I AM SOLICITING INFO FROM THOSE WHO MAY HAVE GONE HERE BEFORE!! 1. Am I correct that this module is breaking because it is using a text field instead of the proper database row key field? 2. Is this the module to focus on, or is there another USPS module which doesn't have these problems, or would be a better starting point for a fix? I will say that when I set this module up in early 2012, I replaced whatever we had before and switched to this one because I couldn't get the updated version of what we had to work (or maybe there wasn't one available yet). My impression is that this module is relatively simple, provides the features we need and would be easier to upgrade than to switch to another module --- but that is just a guess.

First, kymation, thank you for your leadership role in this thread. Thanks to everyone else here, as well. A summary of the actual changes required to upgrade this contribution would be greatly appreciated. Maybe summarizing my status will help clarify for some others... Here's where I think I am: OSC 2.2 RC 2. I have this USPS Module installed: USPS Rates ServerV4 (for osc2.2) / http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/8403 Now, it appears that there's an update I hadn't applied: USPS Methods Rates V4 Intl Rates V2 - 01-27-13 Update / http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/8702 So, I applied this update. At this point, I should now be ready to make the updates contained in this thread to fix the July 28th USPS changes. IS THAT CORRECT? So, now, here's my problem: I've been reading through this thread and there changes on top of changes to update for USPS and then a few more changes to correct side issues, but I'm having a terrible time trying to figure out exactly which changes I should apply. WOULD YOU OR SOMEONE ELSE HERE BE SO KIND AS TO SUMMARIZE THE STATUS AND PROVIDE THE LATEST SET OF FILES AND HACKS REQUIRED TO GET THIS CONTRIBUTION GOING? I am a programmer and am happy to help with furthering this effort to a clean update, but I need to see the actual status, install the changes, and do some testing before I can provide any useful assistance. OK, I SEE THE FILE KYMATION POSTED AT #748. Is this the best version of usps.php, if I don't care about restricting by products? AM I CORRECT THAT NO VERSION WORKS FOR FIRST CLASS MAIL? ARE THERE ANY OTHER FILES IN ADDITION TO usps.php which I need to update?

    rate V4 changes to usps.php for osc2.2

Your module installed beautifully with no problems. Thank You! Now, I do have a couple of questions: 1. Priority Mail International Flat Rate SMALL BOX does not display. It works fine with Domestic Priority Mail Flat Rate small box. I also tested to verify it is not dependent on country to make sure it wasn't a problem with a particular country. It may have displayed and stopped working when I switched between Retail and Online. Are there any configuration fields in the database that may have gotten screwed up or corrupted by changing between Retail and Online and back? I also played with product dimensions and weights, but that has no effect. I did uninstall usps.php and redid the configuration, but that did not help. - Which is why I am wondering about configuration fields in the database. NOTE: The module installed WITHOUT any changes, so it isn't a typo in the module itself unless it's in the distribution. 2. Is there any provision in this module for handling product / shipping dimensions? If not, any clever ways to handle them? 3. It appears that the estimated delivery time is returned and I just need to modify my site to display the time estimate. Is that correct? 4. If you want to place a test order to see what I am talking about, feel free to do so. You will see the problem before you are asked to pay. https://xeonixinc.com Thanks in advance for any guidance you might offer.

ALSO: 6; Is anyone aware of a desktop editor for Windows or MAC which will allow editing of OSCommerce category descriptions, etc.? I've found a couple, but they don't have WYSIWYG capability.

    Header Tags SEO

WYSIWYG Redux. I know this has been brought up and discussed before, but it would be very helpful to me, and probably other, to have complete info in one place. My client has been using a workaround because Header Tags SEO and FCKEditor 2.6 with OSC2.2RC2. We cannot put html in description fields because it breaks the editor. This is well-known and I won't discuss that further here. I have to do something to make a wysiwyg editor work with Header Tags SEO. Here are my quesitons: 1. Do any of the available WYSIWYG editors work with Header Tags SEO? If so, which ones? 2. Do any of the WYSIWYG editors which work with Header Tags SEO support spell checking? If so, which ones? 3. Is it possible to install the WYSIWYG editor locally to only work on the pages that have Header Tag SEO description fields? (We have a highly modified site and it would be a lot of work to replace the text editor everywhere.) 4. If there's more than one WYSIWYG editor which works, any opinion on which works better, is easier to install, etc.? 5. Jack_MCS: Do you have a preferred WYSIWYG editor? Does one of them present you with fewer problems than the other? Which? Thank you. Geoff

    Header Tags SEO

The FCKeditor is still broken when it comes to editing category descriptions which contain images or embedded videos. It only works correctly when the category description contains text and nothing else. Read On: Anyone have a suggestion about which of the wysiwyg editors works correctly with Header Tags SEO instead of using FCKeditor? Specifically, putting images and videos in the category description. See above for more details. Here's an example of the problem: I entered text and an image into the category description using the FCKEditor as normal: As you can see, the image and text are displayed correctly in the FCKeditor. I save the update to the category. When I do this, the image and text display correctly in the catalog (Go to this link to see the category page displayed correctly in the catalog: https://www.xeonixinc.com/modular-pendulums-c-79.html Here's a screenshot of the page displayed in the above link showing that the category catalog page displays the image and text correctly: As you can see, the image and text are displayed correctly. When I go back to edit the category description, the image and text fail to load (Note that the content of the category description is NOT loaded into the editor. The editor is empty, even though the image and text are in the database and display on the catalog page - see link above): Note that I can add an image using the FCKeditor to a PRODUCT description and then go back and edit the description later without a problem. So, this problem is limited to the admin category edit page. I need to decide whether to find the problem with the FCKeditor or switch to a different editor that works better with Header Tags SEO. Any suggestions? Is anyone using one of the other editors successfully to insert and EDIT category descriptions containing images or videos?

    Header Tags SEO

I've also discovered that if you put an image in the category description, save it, and then go back to edit the description later, the category description content is not loaded into the editor. Same behavior as with embedding a video. Sorry, I wasn't clear. I was actually asking where in the code the category description is saved to the database, not where in the database the category description is saved. I'm faced with the decision of whether to figure out why FCKeditor is not working or installing another wysiwyg editor. Does one of the other editors work better? A wysiwyg editor is pretty much useless if you put something into it and then you cannot go back and change it later. My client is absolutely insistent that he have a wysiwyg editor. Need to be able to place images and You Tube videos in category descriptions, and to be able to go back and edit the category descriptions which have the images and videos in them. Also need to upload images from within the editor (FCKeditor does allow uploading. The uploading is important, but I can get the customer to concede that point if putting images and videos into the description doesn't break the editor.) As I mentioned, the FCKeditor is working correctly on product descriptions, but that is using TEP draw function instead of an inline frame. When you mentioned the table stuff above, did you mean that the way tables are used in the category edit page is causing the problem with using TEP functions, or is it something internal to FCKeditor? I'm looking for a suggestion about the direction. Should I fix the code so FCKeditor works or use a different editor? The problem with using a different editor is that this site also uses FCKeditor in many areas and it sounds like a lot of work to change the editor everywhere and seems really awful to use different editors in different places.

    Header Tags SEO

Embedded Video Issue First, thank you for all of your work on Header Tags SEO and for fixing the issue with FCKEditor in the category descriptions! I'm having a problem with embedding You Tube videos in category descriptions when using Header Tag SEO with the FCKEditor. I can insert the <iframe>....</iframe> you tube code and the video will play, but when you go back to make a change, the content isn't loaded into the FCKeditor, so the You Tube code has to be added to the category description each time that category is edited. Embedding and editing You Tube videos in product pages works correctly. (Note: We cannot use the object embed code because the entire site is https and using object embed with https, the video won't play in Internet Explorer on Windows.) I looked at the code and the You Tube <iframe> code isn't being filtered when the FCKEditor is loaded, so I think the problem may be that the FCKEditor is invoked using Iframe in the category description, but uses TEP Draw funcion in the product descriptions. You Tube uses an Iframe and I think invoking the editor in an iframe and then putting an iframe inside it is causing a conflict. Also, I found where the FCKEditor is loaded and switched it to use TEP Draw, which did allow the You Tube Iframe code to load correctly, but it broke the save function. I think I can fix this by converting the Header Tag SEO code to use the TEP Draw function instead of <iframe> for the category descriptions, but I want to ask a couple of questions first: 1. Is there a technical reason you chose to use <iframe> instead of TEP Draw function to invoke the FCKEditor? In other words, do you know of any reason why using TEP Draw instead of <iframe> wouldn't work correctly? 2. Do you know where the edited category description is saved to the database? As I said, I was able to modify the code to use TEP Draw to load the category description correctly, but that breaks the save function. (I'm sure I can find it with a little more code reading, but if you happen to know off-hand where the save is done, that would be appreciated. 3. I'll be happy to provide a copy of the modified code. Do you have any caveats or words to the wise I might want to consider in making this change? Thanks, Geoff
  21. I've taken over an OSCommerce. I've done some OSCommerce and do understand it, but I have little familiarity with the huge number of contributions and the side-effects of using them together. The site doesn't have some things it needs, but I've upgraded functionality sufficiently for the customer to use it effectively. Now, I need to take a look at longer range plans and determine which combination of contributions to use. Your thoughts and suggestions would be most appreciated. The most critical issue is the ability to add more than 9 extra pages to the site because I have some pages that need to be added and I don't want to clean up the extra pages that are there until I have decided whether to do the more-than-9-pages hack on Extra Info Pages or go to something else. I'm not particularly wedded to any of the contributions on the site except for STS and SPPC. I could even give up STS if there were a good enough reason, but I haven't seen anything else that does what it does. Here's the site for you to look at. Please note that it is in better shape than when I got it, but needs much more work. Also please note that the images are large because the owner wants them that way. Since I fixed up the category and product pages to handle the larger images, sales have picked-up, so apparently, he's correct. Xeonix Here are my thoughts on the subject. I would be most grateful for your thoughts and suggestions. I have some goals for the site and need to make some decisions before doing much more. I added a couple of contributions as quick fixes. (Define Mainpage and Subcategory Textboxes - because they were easy to install and I was confident they wouldn't scew-up other stuff.) It uses STS and SPPC, which are the only contribution I'd prefer to keep, so I'm going to layout what I need here: My concern is a set of contributions that work well together without a lot of hacking or side-effects. 1. I need to do the proper SEO URL and tag stuff: The site currently has Ultimate SEO URL's installed, but almost every option is turned off and I'm not going to start turning stuff on until I understand how I'm going to test it. (There's a history that tells me I need to be careful with this.) Site Needs a sitemap Bill Kellum, who has been very helpful, suggested HTC SEO Tools that transparently work would be better than one's requiring separate admin tasks to keep the content up to date, but not at the expense of reliability So, what's a good combination of SEO tools? 2. Site has significant editing requirements: We need more than 10 extra pages Currently using Extra Info Pages We could use the more-than-10-pages hack on Extra Info Pages Article Manager would do the trick, as a replacement for Extra Info Pages Article manager has the added advantage of built in cross-selling - which is the reason for the extra pages. Page Editor looks like it would do all of the editing, but again, it doesn't have the cross selling built into Article Manager. I think we can turn off dates, authors, etc. in Article Manager, so it could be used to create the needed extra pages that would look like pages created in Extra Info Pages. We're also using Define Mainpage to edit the home page from admin. Define Mainpage needs an html editor. We're using Subcategory Textboxes to edit blurbs on category and sub-category pages Subcategory Textboxes needs an html editor Extra Info Pages uses FCKEditor. Article Manager uses the HTMLArea Editor. We need to decide on ONE html editor which is reliable and easy to use The html editor should be one that can be easily attached to textboxes in the Admin area as needed. 3. Content Delivery Network We will be using a Content Delivery Network to serve the images Images will be pulled by the CDN. This requires changing image urls to the CDN URL. I haven't seen any contributions that support this Also, whatever is done cannot screw up the SEO stuff. 4. Summary: What contributions do we use for a complete SEO solution? Do we hack Extra Info Pages to handle more than 9 pages or go with Article Manager, or something else? If we went to Article Manager, will it allow editing of a section of the home page similar to Define Mainpage? We need one html editor for all admin wysiwyg editing tasks. Which html editor will work with all of the contributions it needs to work with? Are there other contributions I've missed that would work better than the one's I've mentioned here? [*}What about changing image URL's to point to the Content Delivery Network? No, we don't want to use Amazon S3! 5. Shortest Path: The shortest path could be to hack Extra Info Pages, pick an html editor and install it on Define Mainpage and Subcategory Textboxes. But, which html editor to use is the thing I'm most uncomfortable with. FCK Editor is already instealled, so I suppose I could dig in and figure out how to initialize it on the other admin textboxes that need it. But, that would mean giving up the cross-selling on the extra pages, which Article Manger has. So?????

THANK YOU, Jack for your response. It's fairly high on my priority list, so I will certainly post here when I've fixed it. I'll also message you so you can post it to the contributions. If you happen to get to it before me and think about it, I'd appreciate it if you would click my userid and send me a message. AS AN FYI for you: I already looked at it enough to see that it's got to be a misplaced "}" on an if statement. I'm going to run it through my php beautify this afternoon to see if that finds it by showing me the logical scope of the if statements once they're indented. Thanks, again. I really didn't want to make changes unless I knew it was an actual bug rather than an error on my end. :} Geoff

    Header Tags SEO

Issue with using HTML editor - in my case FCK - in admin/categories.php Please take a look at this. I'm sure I can fix it, but it seems like a major problem that would be posted here if it is actually a problem with Header Tags SEO. I've reviewed the installation several times and not found an error. So, before I dig in and hack the code, I thought I would describe the problem here and see if it rings a bell for anyone. As is often the case, I searched the forum carefully and didn't find anything related. After posting, I did find a post about this exact problem, but with no solution listed, but I here's a screenshot from that post which illustrates exactly the problem I am having: The site is version 2.2 RC2 and I am installing Header Tags SEO V 3.2.3. The FCKeditor works on properly with Header Tags when editing a product, but does not work properly when editing a category. The FCKeditor displays at the top of the category edit page instead of in the correct location, doesn't display the contents for the field from the database and when data is entered, it is not stored in the database. In fact, the editor is displayed outside the scope of the form tags, which explains why it isn't functioning. I tried using the unmodified admin/categories.php file provided with the contribution and got the same results. I can modify the admin/categories.php file to fix this, but this problem seems rather odd so I'd like to know: Has anyone else had this problem? Is it possible that another contribution might be causing the problem? Since I got the same result with the provided version of /admin/categories.php, which has no additional contributions in it, it doesn't seem to be other contribution related. What about an incorrect install of Header Tags SEO? It seems to be working correctly with the exception of this oddity, and I've reviewed the installation numerous times. When I read the code in the /admin/categories.php file, I see some logic pertaining to this issue that looks like it could be a problem - but there are no posts about coding errors, so I probably didn't read the code closely enough. Thanks in advance for any insight provided.

    [Contribution] STS v4

After taking over a site from someone else, I've been able to clean up stuff and add new features by mimicking what's already there. Now, I think I need a deeper understanding of STS to get the next step done. The site is STS4.5.8. I want to install Article Manager 1.5.7_5 I can see exactly what I need to do to add the Article Manager Author's Box in a column on the Homepage, Category and Subcategory pages, etc. - But, those are pages for which STS templates already exist. I want to display the Article Manager articles on their own pages, rendered with an STS template created for that purpose. I found the code below in this forum. From it, I gather that binding STS to Application Manager is done here. What I don't understand is what I name the STS template for the Article Manager article pages and in which STS directory I place this template so it will be used. You need to add the following in the includes/modules/sts_inc/sts_column_left.php: // ARTICLE Manager if (AUTHOR_BOX_DISPLAY == 'true'){ require(DIR_WS_BOXES . 'authors.php'); $sts->restart_capture ('authorsbox', 'box'); }else{ $sts->template['authorskbox']=''; } if (ARTICLE_BOX_DISPLAY == 'true'){ require(DIR_WS_BOXES . 'articles.php'); $sts->restart_capture ('articlesbox', 'box'); }else{ $sts->template['articlesbox']=''; } Now use $articlesbox$ and $authorskbox$ in your template where you want them.
  25. Thank you. I've found several contributions with names similar to Information Pages. Is Information Pages Unlimited the one you are talking about?
