ULTIMATE Seo Urls 5 - by FWR Media
longhorn1999 replied to FWR Media's topic in General Add-Ons Support
Hi Robert, I was referred to this forum by another post I'd made, though it seems that this question about double slashes has been asked before. http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/362588-indexphp-vs/page__gopid__1525200entry1525200 I think that like many people, I'm using your USU5 and Jack's Header Tags SEO (I'm too far in to completely change either one I think). Just to clarify things, you're saying that changing tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT)to tep_href_link('/') will not remove both index.php and //, so the suggested course of action is to upgrade to USU5 PRO? Is there any canonical code/add-on that may work, though Sam's prevent duplicate content add-on which you contributed to is apparently non-compatible with Header Tags according to Jack. I don't have any extra slashes in my configure files, as is the cause of most // problems. Thanks for your time and sorry if this is outside of the scope of this forum. -
PayPal WPP Direct Payments & Express Checkout Support

Hi guys, This has been a great add-on and I've been using PayPal Pro successfully thanks to it. My one problem is that I've never been able to get discount coupons to work with paypal express properly. I've just come across the github page for osCommerce 2 and from April 2009, there are several updates which relate to PayPal. http://github.com/osCommerce/oscommerce2/commits/master?page=5 Would anyone happen to know if any of these are relevant to those of us using this add-on, or does this add-on make these older changes irrelevant? Thanks, Nick -
Ok thanks Jack. I uninstalled Sam's mod and hopefully that'll clear up that problem. The issue is that in both Webmaster Tools and Yahoo Site Explorer, I'm not seeing that there are any internal links to either www.my-domain.com/ or www.my-domain.com/index.php. I'm worried that I may have some structural problem with my internal linking that may be hurting me for SEO purposes. FILENAME_DEFAULT is index.php of course and I have that 301 to redirect /index.php to /, so I'm hoping that maybe Google and Yahoo are just slow in crawling my site's internal links, though it seems unlikely.

Hi Jack, Sorry to refer to an older post, and I hope this is the appropriate forum for my questions, but I'm noticing a problem with my internal links that you may have some insight on. I'm using v3.2.3 of course, and v3.1.9 was especially important as it fixed all the duplicate content issues I was having, particularly with /index.php vs. /. I've just noticed that in Google Webmaster Tools, it's not showing that I have any internal links. The same is basically true with Yahoo Site Explorer, even though logically I should have at least a couple of hundred links back to my home page (www.my-domain.com). And when I hover over the logo or the 'continue' button, index.php appears, though as with Hotclutch before, it doesn't show up in SERPs, likely because of a 301. My 2 questions here are: 1) Is having something like Sam's Remove & Prevent duplicate content with the canonical tag V1.3.2 redundant now since v3.1.9? I'd installed this in an futile attempt to get rid of duplicate content before v3.1.9 fixed that problem. Might this be interfering with Header Tags somehow even though everything seems to be fine except for my internal linking problem? http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/7163 2) Could it be just be some unrelated issue with how I have my .htaccess file set up? I'm not entirely sure where I got this from, but I have: RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^.*/index.php RewriteRule ^(.*)index.php$ http://www.my-domain.com/$1 [R=301,L] Whereas some other posts recommend: RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} !^POST RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /(.*)index\.php(.*)\ HTTP/ [NC] RewriteRule ^index\.php(.*)$ http:\/\/www.my-domain.com/$1 [R=301,L] Thanks again for all your help, Nick

Hi Jack, I suppose I'm in the same boat where I'm going to have to use v1.4 since I have USU5. The rewriting doesn't fail per se on my site but it does generate sitemaps that have unrewritten urls. I looked at the changes you made with winmerge and it looks like the one change that might apply to me would be replacing ereg calls with preg ones. What benefit might I get by manually making those changes? Version 1.4 works great for me given the other contributions I have installed (no quotes, no article manager, no page manager) so could I just leave well enough alone for now? And if my host upgrades to php 5.3, are you saying that google xml sitemap seo v1.4 will fail or the latest version of USU5 or both? Thanks, Nick

Hi Jack, Wow that was a quick update! I'm going to try this again and I noticed that in the new files directory is account_history_info.php. Is that supposed to overwrite the existing file (though it seems unrelated) or is it in there by accident?

I tried the customer.php test you just suggested and it does cause errors, and as far as I know Header Tags has been working fine. I only mentioned redirect.php because of this early line in admin/articles.php: if ($authors['total'] < 1) tep_redirect(tep_href_link(FILENAME_AUTHORS, 'no_authors=true')); I thought that maybe I'd messed up redirect.php and that was causing some random redirect error with that admin file, leading to a blank screen after I enter an author. But obviously my coding knowledge here is limited and I can only deduce that admin/articles.php is not agreeing with my setup for whatever reason. No problem though. All of your other contributions have worked well for me, so I'll try this one again with the next version.

Could it be a problem with my redirect.php? I'd added // Links Manager II v1.26 begin case 'links': require(DIR_WS_FUNCTIONS . 'links.php'); $links_query = tep_db_query("select links_url from " . TABLE_LINKS . " where links_id = '" . (int)$HTTP_GET_VARS['goto'] . "'"); if (tep_db_num_rows($links_query)) { $link = tep_db_fetch_array($links_query); tep_update_links_click_count($HTTP_GET_VARS['goto']); tep_redirect($link['links_url']); } break; // Links Manager II v1.26 end just before case manufacturer and then for article manager I added case 'arturl': if (isset($HTTP_GET_VARS['goto']) && tep_not_null($HTTP_GET_VARS['goto'])) { $check_query = tep_db_query("select articles_url from " . TABLE_ARTICLES_DESCRIPTION . " where articles_url = '" . tep_db_input($HTTP_GET_VARS['goto']) . "' limit 1"); if (tep_db_num_rows($check_query)) { tep_redirect('http://' . $HTTP_GET_VARS['goto']); } } break; just before the links manager code. Though it was redirecting to admin/authors.php when there were no authors entered as line 20 of admin/articles.php instructs so maybe that part is fine. No worries though...I'll just be managing articles the old-fashioned way (html/php). Thanks again.

I have MySQL 5.1.47. Yeah, I was afraid it might be some conflict between the Article Manager and USU5. Oddly I can't even create an article or add a topic, since as soon as I click on that page I have to add an author, and then things start to mess up. Your Links Manager II (which I just upgraded) works great so I was hoping I could get this one going as well. Maybe the USU5 conflict is something you can get a workaround for in the next version. Thanks for your time though.

Hey Jack, I'd mentioned USU5 since I was seeing the same problem on the client side as with admin/articles.php, but I see your point. I renamed admin/authors.php to admin/articles.php as you suggested and that file did load up. I had altered the database using phpmyadmin and everything looked ok as far as I can tell. All the tables and entries are there according to what's in the sql file. But still in a fresh install of Article Manager, in the admin I'm prompted to add at least 1 author. So I create one author, and then when I click on admin/articles.php, the screen goes blank again. If I run just the sql for 'authors' and 'author info' to drop those tables and create new ones, when I click on admin/articles.php it loads up as admin/authors.php?no_authors=true. And so I enter another author name once again and the whole thing repeats. Is my database messed up or is there some bug in admin/articles.php?

Hi Jack, I have Header Tags 3.2.3 installed along with FWR's Ultimate URLs 5 and I'm have some trouble with this install. After the first installation I couldn't even see my site anymore. It was just a blank white page. Turning off USU5 and then finally resetting the cache and then turning it back on made my site work again. But I'm having the same problem as the previous poster where admin/articles.php does not work for me at all. Again, all I get there is a blank white page. I checked the install 5 times now, and am pretty sure that even product_info.php and redirect.php were edited correctly, even though there aren't explicit directions for those files. In the admin, the article cross sell, reviews, authors, and config settings all show up. It's just articles.php that doesn't work. As another person posted, here's part of my .htaccess: RewriteRule ^(.*)-p-([0-9]+).html$ product_info.php?products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-c-([0-9_]+).html$ index.php?cPath=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-m-([0-9]+).html$ index.php?manufacturers_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-pi-([0-9]+).html$ popup_image.php?pID=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-pr-([0-9]+).html$ product_reviews.php?products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-pri-([0-9]+).html$ product_reviews_info.php?products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} # Articles contribution RewriteRule ^(.*)-t-([0-9_]+).html$ articles.php?tPath=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-a-([0-9]+).html$ article_info.php?articles_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} # Information pages RewriteRule ^(.*)-i-([0-9]+).html$ information.php?info_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} # Links contribution RewriteRule ^(.*)-links-([0-9_]+).html$ links.php?lPath=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} # Newsdesk contribution RewriteRule ^(.*)-n-([0-9]+).html$ newsdesk_info.php?newsdesk_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-nc-([0-9]+).html$ newsdesk_index.php?newsPath=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-nri-([0-9]+).html$ newsdesk_reviews_info.php?newsdesk_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-nra-([0-9]+).html$ newsdesk_reviews_article.php?newsdesk_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} Any ideas what might be the problem? Thanks

NEW! Complete Order Editing Tool!
longhorn1999 replied to jhilgeman's topic in General Add-Ons Support
Hi, Sorry for the cross-post, but I was wondering if anyone has been able to actually send new order confirmation emails with order editor 5.0.9b? All I get are blanks emails to the customer when I click on that button. Is that the case for everyone? Is there something strange going on with my host to block that email (not likely since every other email works)? Any ideas are appreciated... -
New Order Confirmation - Blank Page, No Email
longhorn1999 replied to ryjbench's topic in General Add-Ons Support
I'm using master password to process phone orders, but upon further inspection I'm having this same issue of blank emails with order editor (5.0.9b). Any ideas as to what the problem might be? Thanks, Nick -
PayPal WPP Direct Payments & Express Checkout Support
longhorn1999 replied to dynamoeffects's topic in Other
They aren't compatible, though the creator of this PayPal WPP add-on has a one page checkout solution available for sale. I went through the same aggravation of installing both a few months back and only later finding out from each of the two developers that these add-ons don't work in unison. -
Hi Jack, I updated to v2.2 from v2.1 and it seems to be working successfully. The only problem I'm noticing now is when I click on the radio button to check for updates, it tells me that 2 updates are available. Is there something else I need to edit to make sure or signify that I'm using the latest version? Thanks
-
Hi Jack, I'm not sure if you've answered this in the forums and I couldn't find one in the docs, but in the Header Tags Manufacturer Description and Header Tags Categories Description, is there a way to insert an image there? I know that this text can be modified w/ HTML, but I'm wondering if there's any specific command that's need for pictures. Thanks, Nick

Yeah I'd actually posted back in February as well about another problem that I eventually figured out...unfortunately no solution for this PayPal Express problem so far. I'll have to experiment a bit...

Hi everyone, I've posted this elsewhere but haven't figured out this problem yet. Has anyone here had issues getting discount coupons (v3.34) to work with PayPal Express? I had a customer who was able to check out with direct payment eventually with coupons working, but only after failing to get PayPal to work for them as they couldn't find where to enter the coupon code. I have the latest version of Dynamo WPP installed. Could someone at least list the correct procedure that a customer uses w/ PayPal Express so that discount coupons are included and applied properly? Thanks, Nick

Hi Jack, Some people have mentioned in other forums that Article Manager can be used as a sort of blog. If I wanted to do this, are there any major modifications that would need to be done? Would comments or such be a problem? Except for the screenshots from 2003 uploaded in the add-ons download section, I'm not quite sure what the final install looks like. Thanks, Nick

Simple Multi Image Add-on (Un-Limited) with FancyBox Popups
longhorn1999 replied to spooks's topic in General Add-Ons Support
I had a similar problem with product_info.php with a jQuery horizontal menu that I had installed along with FancyBox. In my case, for whatever reason, simply moving the code for the horizontal menu that was at bottom of <HEAD> in product_info.php to just above the code for FancyBox solved the problem. -

[Contribution] CKEditor [wyswyg]
longhorn1999 replied to www.in.no's topic in General Add-Ons Support
Hi everyone, I've been using FCKeditor and recently upgraded to CKEditor. It came to my attention that and links made with this (image links, anchor text links, etc) don't use tep_href_links and therefore don't hold the osCsid. http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/330479-what-is-the-oscsid-why-you-must-not-loose-it/page__st__120 Is there any way to alter a page made with CKEditor (a product page or index.php) so that whatever links I create are tep_href_link compatible? Thanks, Nick -
Hi Jack, I'm using this contribution with USU5 successfully. I saw this piece of code you gave a while back to exclude certain pages created in information pages unlimited from showing up in the sitemap. Unfortunately they still appear in my sitemappages.xml. Is there anything you might suggest besides just manually editing the sitemaps each time they're created? Thanks, Nick

Remove & Prevent duplicate content with the canonical tag
longhorn1999 replied to spooks's topic in General Add-Ons Support
Hi Sam, I'm having the canonical issue of www.mysite.com/ and www.mysite/com/index.php having duplicate title and meta description tags according to Google Webmaster Tools. I'm a bit confused as to my options to resolve this kind of problem. Should I edit FILENAME_DEFAULT everywhere as some people in this forum have done?: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=155079 Or I see in the installation notes for this add-on that you mention the problem I have, giving these instructions: But going back to Robert's reference to Matt Cutts' advice, does using a redirect cause any SEO problems? Or is this the appropriate course of action? Thanks for the advice, Nick
