    Force UPS Next Day Shipping

Thanks for the info... I did as you suggested but unfortunately, even tho I can choose all the different methods, when a customer buys something it only show UPS standard. I'm wondering if it has something to do with proximity or the fact the items will be shipping from Canada. Thanks again! jonathn

    Force UPS Next Day Shipping

HI, I just installed the 19 Dec 2004 - UPS XML Rates and Services v1.1.4 and I'm getting the following errors: I too am getting the: Parse error: parse error, unexpected ';' in /home/canadacr/public_html/admin/modules.php(219) : eval()'d code on line 1 error... and I did not make any modifications to sql file. Also... I'm only getting one shipping method... i.e. UPS Standard. Is there any way to get other methods?? thanks jonathn

Hey Greg, Thanks for getting back to me. I agree that GV's aren't covered by the buyer protection plan. I also have paypal setup to reject those without a verified address as the buyer protection policy is something i'm definately adhering to. I can understand a new paypal member not being verified. In that case, that will require personal followup on my part. -- Quote -- " My concern about this contrib and CCGV, is that the customers credit can be currently deducted when they checkout, however if they click back and change the order and or re-checkout, then their credit will be deducted again (or rather will no longer be available), which if they do this, e.g. keep going back and forth, then they'll use up all their credit or have none left for their finalization of the order/payment." It is a concern of mine too, although a confirmation page is supposed to be that... an order confirmation, so if someone were to click back, yes, they would deduct the credit.. The only way to avoid that would be an after paypal process whereby the GV would be deducted after returning. There would be another problem with that if they did not return. I'd rather issue a credit, than have someone reuse a gift certificate. When I was testing with sandbox and using a verified address, I still didn't see anything in the admin that would verify the address. The purpose of this would be to just reassure me that the person that purchased the GV had a verified address so in the case of fraud, I'd have a place to get this persons real address. I was also thinking... if there's "shipping included" how could I possible get the customers verified address? Thanks for getting back to me! Gary PS... I'll take a look at the changes in 3.0 and see how it effects what I have setup. Hopefully the documentation will show only the additions from 2.9 to 3.0 I'm not using the affilates except as a separate database for vendors.

Hey Greg, Nice to see you're back with your contribution! I've got my 2.9 version working great and there's no problems with the gift certificates being added to the queue or being deducted during the checkout process if the GV are being used and then using the PayPal module. The question I have is this. If only a gift certificate is being ordered by a client and paid thru paypal, because there is no shipping, in the admin I do not see any confirmed address of the client. Is it possible to submit the address of the order to paypal and receive the confirmed address in the admin? I'd like to know this because my store will be selling services and will be set up like Gift Certificates with no shipping. Also, I'm wondering if I should make any changes to the 2.9 version I have if everything is working perfectly? Thanks Gary
  6. I'm having exactly the same problem. I'm using the latest FEDEX module and CanadaPost. I noticed when I mixed virtual( GV's) and non virtual items, just adding the the GV would change the shipping amount. The funny thing about that was... it wouldn't change it if the GV was 25$ anything higher or multiples would increase the shipping by about $1 in both the fedex and canadapost modules. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the way the shipping is being calculated... I noticed that the items in the shipping quote... if I added a virtual item, would increase the item count in the shipping. I made one change in the code to fix that problem, yet I still wonder if the increased value of the oder total is causing the shipping to change. Here's the change: checkout_shipping.php $total_weight = $cart->show_weight(); $total_count = $cart->count_contents(); I added this: $total_count = $cart->count_contents_virtual(); //ICW ADDED FOR CREDIT CLASS SYSTEM That reduced my count... and if i look at the debugs from fedex and canadapost, I can see what's being sent to get the quote. Neither show an increase in weight. So, I'm wondering if it's in the order total. I'm hoping someone comes up with a possible fix for this problem. As for setting up a gift certificate.... there's no button. It's in the model number you use. It's looking for GIFT in the model number to determine if it's virtual or not.

tradeoff?? You're trading off security without shipping to an address that's unverified. The Sellers Protection Policy is there to protect us, the business owners. Ship something for $1000 to a fradulent address and then try to collect.... or for that matter, get your item back. Personally, or any business owner I know wouldn't ship anything to an unverified address. Ever wonder why the credit card companies insist you ship to the same address that the credit card sends the customers statement?? This module has serious "security" shortcomings.... no matter how simplistic it is to install.

This other post might be informative seeing how you're trying to reinvent something someone has already created: Pay particular attention to the last paragraph. devosc Today, 03:27 AM Post #1155 Gregory Baboolal Group: Community Member Posts: 959 Joined: 1-July 03 Member No.: 10,814 'popup_paypal.php' is the public catalog page for the popup info page shown (available) during checkout, it's name, e.g. 'popup_' is specifically chosen so as to be compatible for use with STS and not requiring any modifications of STS itself. It also serves up the css used on the catalog side, but this could also be achieved by specifying the explicit path to the css files used (templates/css). In regard to the order status, or lack of, first look for the debug email and see what info is being shown. For this module, v2.9, no settings need to made in your PayPal account profile, other than having a PayPal account, and possibly enabling Auto-Return, see the config and faqs. Verifying addresses, PayPal will include info as to whether the address is confirmed. It is possible to do a cross tabulation to determine whether the order would be eligible for buyer protection but PayPal have advised against doing this at this time (or a while ago atleast). In regard to some of the above posts, it should be noted that the other module is currently not suitable for downloadable media, the problem about changing the url to checkout_process.php without actually paying at PayPal still exists, so downloads still become immediately available. Also if using that module, one must ensure that Encryption is enabled in the PayPal IPN config otherwise the payment information is not obfuscated and from reading it's code it seems like that it is possible to send PayPal a payment for that order for only $0.01 and the module will accept the payment regardless of the expected actual order amount. Another aspect is that since that module prestores the order prior to the customer actually clicking the 'osCommerce Order Confirmation Button' the storeowner cannot determine whether the customer actually confirmed that they wanted to make the order, which prevents the storeowner from potentially following up the sale/order without any clear indication that the customer wanted to make the purchase.

This is confusing... Having two different areas discussing the same topic. Just to point out what was said in the other forum: "There's a problem with this contribution.... although it installs very fast... and it's great... it doesn't require an address to be chosen, nor can you verify the address where you're shipping your products. If you don't mind losing anything... that's fine... just know this will show up on all your orders at paypal. Seller Protection Policy: Ineligible That alone renders this module useless for those that sell anything of value. Anyone working on a mod to verify addresses??" I might add... you're going to drive my accountant crazy creating 2 different orders... what am I supposed to say?? well this one is valid... but this one is not?

  11. I have spent the last 3 days trying to get this new module to work. PayPal_Shopping_Cart_IPN-Version-2.9 I've double and triple checked all the files and still when a customer makes an order and clicks on the confirmation page they are directed directly to the checkout_success.php page and never see PayPal. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I should add... i have installed Paypal IPN v0.981 and it works great but i'm concerned with the security issues.
  12. I've double checked it and yes... downloads are enabled. What I found cute tho was this problem would disappear if I would select a gift certificate valued at 25$ or less... If I ordered multiple quantities of the 25$ voucher or let's say I bought a $100 voucher, then the shipping costs would change. I have the latest versions of CanadaPost and Fedex. It effects both modules. I suspect it has something possibly to do with insurance, tho I have insurance on both turn off. thanks for the reply!

    NEW! Complete Order Editing Tool!

From what I've read in other posts, the author did worry about charging taxes on shipping when it was first written. There was a fix added later. If you look for the line with Optional Tax Rate: // Optional Tax Rate/Percent $AddShippingTax = "15.025"; // e.g. shipping tax of 17.5% is "17.5" You'll see there's a way to add tax to "all" orders shipping. The only problem I've got with that is "what if where I'm shipping I don't charge tax?" This fix charges tax on shipping in all orders unless you are constantly editing the edit_order.php I was thinking it would be nice to be able to check to see if the shipping is taxable for that customer... and to that extent, I've been trying to write something. Worst case scenerio, I'd at least like an input box that would let me put in the tax rate for shipping, just like it does when you "Create an Order". If someone has a workaround for this it would be appreciated!! thanks!
  14. I'm having a problem with gift certificates. Seems if i have a blended order of items, i.e. a physical product, and a virtual product, i.e. a gift certificate, it changes my values in the shipping. I don't understand why something that weighs 0 still gets charged for shipping. If I make an order with just the Gift Certificate, it by-passes the shipping altogether. No Problem there! If that person were to order one physical item.... it calculates the shipping cost correctly on that physical item. No Problem there. But if I add a gift certificate to an order that has a physical item, the price in the shipping changes. It's not a big change... it's like 1$ or less. I tried modifying the individual shipping modules I'm using so far, i.e. CanadaPost and Fedex1. When I go into debug mode... it shows only the physical items being sent to CanadaPost and Fexdex, yet the shipping price still changes. Anyone else have this problem?
