  1. Hi I need to add some javascript code into the template but the code varies depending upon the data - the code sets a season dependent theme. I notice in the template that the $naming convention is used which seems to be related to defined constants in PHP. I wondered if I could use something similar to place a block of code. I have my catalog set as one level down from root with my home page and a few other pages at root level. For these pages they 'include' a Themes function which determines the javascript to return along with a couple of other variables - like what folder to take the store's logo from, along with texts like, 'Merry Christmas' or 'Mothers Day'. I then set these into the page and never have to bother redressing my site for Christmas or Mother's Day and so on. However, I have to do it manually for OSC and STS at the moment. So how could I define say $themeJava, $themeDir and $themeText to bring back the required blocks of javascript of text?
  2. I can't get this to work I read somewhere that I need to set up a tax zone which I have done and connected it to a zone which I can select in the setup of the table rate module. However, it simply doesn't show up as a shipping option when ordering. I am trying to restrict my table rates to UK only Please help - driving me nuts

  4. Thanks for that Jack. I have mine set to the product ttitle and category, plus my default words in Page Control, so I'll see how that gets on with the SEs
  5. Hi I am in Page Control and in the product_info.php page option. I am thinking that I need to click the radio button to generate keywords based upon what is currently in the description for each of my products when I run Fill Tags and click Yes to over-ride the defauls. I get this error on clicking the radio button in Page Control - *** No keywords found for this page: product_info.php?language=en There is a page shop/product_info.php?language=en on my site so have I done something wrong in the setup of ither the shop or Header Tags? Also am I following the correct procedure to generate keywords in this way?
  6. It sure is I have the option there now. It's odd because now I see it, I remember it from an earlier in the step-by-step upgrade, so I wonder if have somehow over-written it in later versions. Oh well, it's back now so all is well Thanks Jack - and thanks for being so prompt
  7. Hi. It's 3.1.8. I've run through it all again and I am not able to see the Silo Control option beneath the Header Tags SEO heading of the left column in Admin Panel. I see only Page Control, Fill Tags and Test Could you point me to the file that puts that option in the list please. I've looked through header_tags_seo.php and its related functions file for Admin, but neither of these have the word 'silo' in them (from your latest HT download, not my shop)

  9. Hi I'm driving myself nuts now trying to set up the Silo box. The instructions suggest this: See admin->Header Tags SEO->Silo Control I've looked in the Admin panel and in the file structure for something that looks like 'silo control'. All I see in the admin panel is 'Display Silo Links' - just on or off Have I missed a step in the step-by-step upgrade from 3.1.2 to 3.2.3?

Hi there I have just got round to doing the now massive incremental upgrade from my first HT install of about 18 months ago :rolleyes: So I get to version 3.2.0 and I notice that, amongst other files, it upgrades the admin/includes/application_top.php file. However, when I run it in XAMPP, the first issue I face is 'register_globals, which I can in the php.ini file. Having done that, the code stops at line 73 (I think - I'm at another computer at the moment) saying that the function 'page' doesn't exist. It's correct, it doesn't exist. Have I missed a step? Or perhaps I should have done yet more upgrades in osCommerce itself??

  13. Thanks for the response Like you I thought nothing much of delivering a 304 code. However, when I was looking at the Google webmasters advice area recently, it specifically mentions that websites/pages should accept the if-modified-since header and deal with it accordingly. This got me thinking that if Google's header request is not met with last-modified or a 304, could it be this that causes issues like not all pages being indexed? Here is my theory - unsubstantiated - Google can determine how many pages on on your website by the sitemap files you feed it. Google can then calculate the time it will take to index those pages based upon, say, an optimum page sixe of 20K or something similar. It will then start to go through the pages and, probably depending on yet more rules, might index some of the pages it reads. Then after the pre-determined time it will stop. So, if you can deliver back a 304 code pretty quickly, Google need not read the page and determine that nothing has changed. That saved time can then be spent looking at the next page. It's a hunch, but when Google provides such advice it seems to me that we should follow it to the T

  17. Wow, page 203. Sounds like HT SEO could do with its own folder :rolleyes: I am using HT SEO along with CMS, plus a few other contribs. I am trying to get the pseudo pages working for CMS where I have 5 CMS pages, like cms.php?page_id=1 ; cms.php?page_id=2 ; cms.php?page_id=3 and so on. Am I right in thinking that if I create these pseudo pages in the right column, they will show on the left column in my drop-down list of pages? I only see cms.php and I get no errors after 'creating' the speudo pages. Any ideas?
  18. I wonder if anyone knows of a shipping module that does the following... Each product can be allocated a zone and each zone has a shipping cost. If you order one item you are charged the rate for that zone. If you order multiple items, the shipping is calculated at the highest zone rate for all the items in the cart, plus a percentage of all the other zone rates used. For example: 3 items with one rate of 3.00 and the other each have a rate of 2.00. The calculation (assuming 50%) is 3.00 + (0.5 * (2.00 + 2.00)) = 5.00 Any takers?
  19. I have searched this thread and others, so apologies if this has already been covered. I installed FCK along with the CMS contribution. What I would like to do is use both to enbale shop-keepers to update their front page easily - without having to go search for the php file and change it in code. Has anyone got a solution for that? Any help appreciated
  20. I've noticed that CMS is able to update the text on the 'Contact Us' page. So what do I need to do to point CMS at my front / index / home page? Any help much appreciated
  21. I have the CMS bit of this contribution working (not so fussed about the sitemap for now). I have also integrated the FCKEditor. This is great for adding extra pages and being able to update 'About us' and 'FAQ', etc. What about the text on the front page? Is it possible to configure this CMS contribution to enable the shop owner to update their frontpage text as and when they want, without having to go into back-end files? Would be nice to know about any other capabilities.
  22. Hi I am new around here as well. I have been reading up on the Google offering, as well as PayPal. I am in the UK, and both of these services are far more cost effective than for anything the UK has to offer. Ian, you say you don't want customers to be directed from your site to another. What do your customers want? Many customers may prefer to be directed to a site that is dedicated to handling online payments, especially a reputable name like PayPal and Google. How does a customer know if your site employs all the latest security features to safeguard your customer's interests. Perhaps there is market research for this sort of thing, i.e. a site that offers both personal payment handling and PayPal or similar - which is used most? Good luck Paul
