  1. You are porbably using "LIVE" keys and cerificates on a "SANDBOX" or test mode.

    Paypal sandbox behaves like a live transaction server except it uses fake accounts.

    Transactions are contained within the "sandbox".

    Once everything is set up correctly and working fine, then, you can switch it to LIVE.

    Did you set up a sandbox account?

    Also, read the "Sandbox" user guide.

    You can sign up for a sandbox account at https://developer.paypal.com

  2. upon checking admin > modules > payment, the working directory path (Module Directory: /home2/rosybows/public_html/shop/includes/modules/payment/)appears to have been established and is correct. What else could cause our errors?

    Check >> here.

  3. Sam, Newbe here, I have a clean install of osc 2rc2a, no modifications. After looking at the files to be uploaded I ftp all the Anti-Hacker Mod files to my site (after backup), everything seems to be working great, but I have an error in cache.php "Warning: fread() [function.fread]: Length parameter must be greater than 0 in C:\Inetpub\vhosts\usabikemotors.net\httpdocs\catalog\includes\functions\cache.php on line 60" This shows up at the upper corner of the left collum on all page. I'm new to php so I'm not sure what its asking. Do I need to add a $filename.cache to the cashe folder?

    Thanks Bill

    Open notepad. Create the following files.

    also_purchased-english.cache

    categories_box-english.cache

    manufacturers_box-english.cache

    Insert 2 blank spaces(press space bar twice)in each file. Save it.

    "File"--"Save As" ... set the "Save as Type" to ALL FILES

    Upload files to your cache directory/folder.

  4. I was directed to this Add-on, and it looks to be what I need. The problem: The documentation from the download package is in French. Is there any English documentation for v2.1 or do I have to figure out (or guess) the French translation? I've already put in close to 50 hours and I'm still probably close to 250 away from being able to launch the cart, so learning words in a new language really isn't on my to-do list. I'm close to just giving up on osCommerce because whoever said "you don't need to know programming to use it" (which is how I was sold on using it) is the biggest liar to ever exist.

    Click >>here.

    Pick the "AutoInstaller 2.14 for Purchase Without Account v2.1 --- 30 Jun 2009" download.

    If that doesn't work (read complaints about autoinstallers) use "Purchase Without Account v2.1 - FullPackage --- 9 Mar 2009" download.

  5. I recently installed the certified "PayPal Website Payments Standard" module and it seems to be working fine. However, I have noticed that once some enters the "Order Review" page (checkout_confirmation.php), an order gets loaded into my database with status "Preparing PayPal". It seems like preparing an order at this point is 1 step early. The shopper has not Confirmed the order yet so it's not really an order. They may abort completely, continue shopping, or come back later. Don't get me wrong...having a pre-order in the database once they hit "Confirm Order" is a really good idea. I just don't like orders showing up in my database that I cannot tell if they are real orders that did not complete in PayPal or just from a customer that is not done shopping yet.

    Am I missing a key point?

    Is there a different PayPal module that handles this better?

    Thanks for any input.

    If real orders were paid fully through Paypal, Paypal will send you an email indicating such a transaction.

    It will also show in your Paypal account. Those are the ones that matter.

  6. ... what is the "page style" ...

    When your customer is passed from your store to paypal, you can customize what page they see. This can be selected at Paypal under your Profile.

    and the "debug address", etc....
    Enter your email address there. That's the email address where you receive error messages during testing. After testing is done and no other erros are shown, clear that box.
    Also, can I test it...if so- does anyone know how to do that? (In very simple terms please.)
    Set the server to SANDBOX to test. Besides that, there are more things to set. Here's a guide Sandbox User Guide

    Also, I didn't know what my private key or public certificate should say, or where to get that information.
    If you are NOT using paypal payment buttons on your site, "encrypted web payments" set to false and ignore public keys and private certificates. You don't need them.

  7. Gotcha, I believe I understand now. So if I already have an SSL certificate properly configured there would be no need to enable encrypted web payments, right?

    Your site SSL cert has nothing to do with encrypted web payments and vice-versa. You still need SSL as I descibed above and that is to encrypt customer information while on your web site.

    Encrypted web payment in conjunction with public/private cert and keys work to prevent other people from tampering paypal payment buttons, assuming you're using them. Obviousdly, you're not.

    Enabling encrypted web payment does NOT encrypt customer information.

    Use the link I provided above. You'll see that setting up "paypal website payments standard" has nothing to do with public/private certificates and keys. They only come into play when you're using paypal payment butons.

    For the purpose of this specific thread,

    encrypted web payment and SSL = salads and dolphins <--NO RELATION

  8. I'm not using buttons generated from PayPal's site.
    If that's the case, you don't need to enable it (see post #2 above).

    In order to enable encrypted web payments I read that "OpenSSL must be supported by your PHP installation".
    Yes, that is correct.

    I have an SSL certificate with GoDaddy; will that work?
    It's good you have a SSL cert. If properly configured in your server and in the configure.php files, it will encrypt the parts of your store such as login, create account, checkout, etc. Your customer's data is not transmitted in clear text. Once your customers have been transferred to paypal for payment, paypal has their own SSL cert to secure their site for financial transactions.

    What is the point of having encrypted web payments if my email will suffice?
    ->This should help.

  9. I am trying to install PayPal IPN for ms2. Can someone in this forum please help me with a link where to download the right working version? I've been serching for days and all what I found was http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/2679

    However - this is so confusing ... this is in german, the last upgrade 3.0.2 is incomplete - what a joke. It just seems that anyone uploads different versions.

    Again - please someone help me with a IPN version that works

    Thank you

    When downloading addons, read the description. If it says "full package", that's what you're looking for. You downloaded an update.

    osCommerce PayPal IPN Module v2.3.3 For 2.2MS2 16 Nov 2007 <-- Download this. It's a Full package

  10. Yea i tried that too ... but of no use:( ... Anyway thank you for your reply

    Open a text editor and type these

    php_flag register_globals on

    php_value register_globals on

    save the file as ".htaccess" and place it in catalog folder or wherever your site is located.

    If you already have an .htaccess file in your catalog folder, open it and insert those two lines.

    Close all browsers and restart APACHE.

  11. Hi,

    I am a total newbie with oscommerce .. i installed it in my local server(Xampp) and it worked fine .. but when i tried to install a new template from TM it is showing error register globals are not enabled .. i searched the xamp dir and found two php.ini files and changed register globals to on .. but it is not working .. may i know what i did wrong ?

    Did you restart APACHE?

  12. This is YOUR catalog.php

    //kgt - discount coupons

    '<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_PRODUCTS_EXPECTED, '', 'NONSSL') . '" class="menuBoxContentLink">' . BOX_CATALOG_PRODUCTS_EXPECTED . '</a><br>' .

    '<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_DISCOUNT_COUPONS, '', 'NONSSL') . '" class="menuBoxContentLink">' . BOX_CATALOG_DISCOUNT_COUPONS . '</a>' );

    '<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_PRODUCTS_EXPECTED, '', 'NONSSL') . '" class="menuBoxContentLink">' . BOX_CATALOG_PRODUCTS_EXPECTED . '</a>' );

    ***************/

    //end kgt - discount coupons

    This is the catalog.php from the addon. See any difference?

    //kgt - discount coupons

    '<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_PRODUCTS_EXPECTED, '', 'NONSSL') . '" class="menuBoxContentLink">' . BOX_CATALOG_PRODUCTS_EXPECTED . '</a><br>'.

    '<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_DISCOUNT_COUPONS, '', 'NONSSL') . '" class="menuBoxContentLink">' . BOX_CATALOG_DISCOUNT_COUPONS . '</a>' );

    /***************

    '<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_PRODUCTS_EXPECTED, '', 'NONSSL') . '" class="menuBoxContentLink">' . BOX_CATALOG_PRODUCTS_EXPECTED . '</a>' );

    ***************/

    //end kgt - discount coupons

    Syntax in PHP is not forgiving, so every little ) ; ' and } has to be in place. Be careful when editing your files.

    Better take his advice. It will help you a lot.

  14. Hi,

    I have "installed" the contribution "define mainpage", everything seem to be fine the standard text shows up on shop main oage, BUT in admin section the only thing that comes up is the title define mainpage and "TEXT_FILE_DOES_NOT_EXIST".

    Anyone knows what's wrong???

    I appreciate all help.

    Thanks.

    BB

    In admin/define_mainpage.php

    Look for this

    // This will cause it to look for 'catalog/language/(L)/define_mainpage.php'

    $HTTP_GET_VARS['filename'] = FILENAME_DEFINE_MAINPAGE;

    Change to this

    // This will cause it to look for 'catalog/language/(L)/define_mainpage.php'

    // $HTTP_GET_VARS['filename'] = FILENAME_DEFINE_MAINPAGE;

    $HTTP_GET_VARS['filename'] = 'define_mainpage.php';
