    Automated Auction Process

Sorry for all the posts. I think I understand why sequence matters. It's because the eBay auctions are linked as they come into the SQL database. If they already exist in the database, its already sitting in the database without any linked auction listing in the contribution. Here's what I did, I went into the SQL and emptied the auction data. Then I went back to update and walaa, everything shows up no matter what sequence it is. So im thinking I put a SQL command in the Update Auction file to empty the Auction Data file BEFORE updating from eBay. I know it's hard to follow, but would this work or would this reset all the settings for existing auction listings? Also Im having the same problems as I did in eBay Auction Manager contribution where any price over $999.99 just makes the price to $1.00 if $1340.00 or $4 if the price is $4290.00. Should I change the price format in the SQL section?

    Automated Auction Process

OOOK. Its finally working now. I just dropped and recreated the tables and now its fine. Theres something I can't figure out. I tried creating and auction listing in admin first, then posted an auction on ebay. Auction listings were updated in admin fine. But when i create the auction first, then I create the auction listing on the admin side, it does not update at all in the auction listing. what im trying to figure out is why does sequence matter? How can we make the sequence irrelevant because I already have auctions up hat I would like to use this contribution for. Thanx for all the help!

    Automated Auction Process

by the way, ive completely uninstalled eBay Auction Manager. Another weird thing I noticed that I want to add is that when I click on the update button, it usually takes me to a blank page with nothing and comes back. What's weird is that it also sometimes displays "Updating... Please Be Patient" gray words across the screen. It's not doing the same thing every time. any ideas?

    Automated Auction Process

hmmm thats strange. i was looking into the auction_data sql file and theres nothing to browse. even though I have 2 auction listings that I've created, it doesn't show up in the auction_data table. why isn't it saving?
  5. I just installed everything in MS2 but when I click on create order or account from the admin, it takes me to an error screen: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare tep_db_connect() (previously declared in /home/designi/public_html/catalog/admin/includes/functions/database.php:13) in /home/designi/public_html/catalog/admin/includes/functions/database.php on line 13 Anybody know how to take care of this?

    Automated Auction Process

Yea, the contributions must've crossed codes somewhere. Before taking a big step by uninstalling a contribution, I wanted to understand a certain aspect in your Automated Auction Process contribution. I currently have 500 auctions already running right now and most of the items are already part of my online store. It's starting to look like those items in the online store is pretty much irrelevant to this contribution. To use your contribution, I'd have to create each of the 500 auctions into the admin side one-by-one, right? There has got to be an easier way to encounter this situation. Maybe some kind of product mapping like the eBay Auction Manager does? Or perhaps an ability to upload Excel files into the Auction Listing side? Hope you accept my feedback in good heart. Even though I didn't get to use your contribution yet, it's greatly greatly appreciated.

    Automated Auction Process

This contrib is a full blown auction manager within it's self. Hope that helps. :D Thanks. But I do have the auctions already listed on eBay. So what I did was create a new product from the Auction Listing and tried grabbing the Auctions that were already created before this contribution. You think maybe I have to create the product in the Auction Listing first, and then create the auction? Or should the order not even matter? I'm still thinking that the Auction Update is updating the eBay Auction manager. Because the Automated Auction Process contribution auction list is blank while the eBay Auction manager is full.

    Automated Auction Process

Thx for your efforts smitty. I'm having problems with it though. When I create the product in Auction Listings and then update the Auction Info, it doesn't show up in the Current Auctions list.. its just a blank list. I think what it's doing is updating the eBay manager instead of your Automated Auction process contribution. Another question I have is if there a way to better way to have the auctions show in the current auctions section. I just think it's tedious to create a product in the cart, then post the auction. What about the existing auctions that are already up? Wouldn't it be nice to have it mapped to your cart somehow? I'm not understanding something. Does this contribution take place of the eBay manager contribution because I don't see how the two contribution interweve. Do I even need eBay manager contribution anymore? Please help me use this awesome tool. I'm really anxious to exploit it's full potential.
  10. The last thread of this was getting way too long and the first half of it was brainstorming anyways (http://forums.oscommerce.com/index.php?showtopic=27549&st=230). I wanted to use this thread to help polish the eBay manager to the next step since it's pretty much out of 'beta-brainstorm'. i mean this contribution has been working full throttle for me but there are a few things that i think would make it better: 1.) Upon initial checkout, there should be a section to either log in if youre an existing customer or fill out information if youre a new customer. having the customer fill out ALL the info before the manager telling it that they already exist doesnt go too well with recurring customers. 2.) This one is actually a bug that I couldn't really locate. Most of my items are above $999, so when its listed in the auction list it would show a price of $1.00 if the actual auction is $1342 or $4 if the actual auction was $4349. I'm assuming that this is because the eBay manager can not handle more than 3 digits before the decimal. How and where could I change this? 3.) Is there a way to have the shipping charges calculated from the customer's zip code? I'm thinking that my Fedex module can pass the actual shipping charges to the shipping field in the eBay manager as a variable. That way shipping is always updated automatically on the fly. By the way, shipping on the eBay manager doesn't work properly for me right now because it's showingn the shipping price being $0.00 even though I've updated the shipping charges in the eBay manager. Anybody know why I'm experiencing this minor flaw? 4.) Is there a way that the eBay manager automatically send an checkout email soon after the auction has ended? If anybody else has any suggestions on how to polish this excellent contribution (thx to Auctionblox!), or if anybody has any solutions, pls postl. Thanks all.

I'm having a little trouble with shipping being added to the cart. When I update the shipping charge in Admin section, it doesn't show up in the cart when checking out. The shipping charge shows $0.00. Whats going on? Also can someone please explain to me what product mapping exactly is?

i looked in auction_update.php and application_top.php wasn't called twice, just once. i tried removing it in case something else was calling it, but that caused more problems. i didnt see database.php called at all in auction_update.php. im kinda new and confused about this, do you have any suggestions on what i should do?

    Ebay auction manager for OSCOMMERCE

found a bug actually. most of my auctions are over $999. so when this happens, all auctions in my ebay manager list shows 1.00 if the actual auction price is 1434, or 2.00 if 2354. another thing is how would i go about putting a login section in the auction_finder.php. the problem is if someone has ordered in the past, they still have to fill out all info in auction_finder.php for it to figure out that the custoemr has been there. then they log in at the new page. i think it would be good if theres a section to log in and under it would say if youve never been here, then create account.

    Ebay auction manager for OSCOMMERCE

when the ebay manager sends an email, it looks like the auction info is missing. Is it not yet implemented or do i have an error? The subject says "Checkout of:" with nothing after the collon. In the email body it says "Thank you for your Design Imports purchase of:" with nothing after the collon again. How does it work for everyone else.

    Ebay auction manager for OSCOMMERCE

i get an error when i edit and update the auction, i get this: Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/designi/public_html/catalog/admin/includes/languages/english/auction_listing_item.php:55) in /home/designi/public_html/catalog/admin/includes/functions/general.php on line 18 anyone know why this is?

    Ebay auction manager for OSCOMMERCE

another problem i found is that my auction list doesnt display a price above $999. This im assuming because the number of digits cant exceed 6 (inlcuding the cents). is there a way to remove the 2 digits after the decimal to make more room for the 1000's and 10000's digit? Cents isnt so much of a significance when i reach a $1000 auction.

    Ebay auction manager for OSCOMMERCE

i noticed that when a customer checks out using ebay contribution, their info is not stored on the oscommerce's shopping cart with all the rest of the accounts. Shouldnt their be a way to pass all the customer's info into oscommerce's account manager so they can log in later and track the order?
  23. i have additional_images mod. when i remove all the comments, i get a parse 1825 error. form another thread, i replaced: $query .= . $v_products_mimage . '", "' . $v_products_bimage . '", "' . $v_products_subimage1 . '", "' . $v_products_bsubimage1 . '", "' . $v_products_subimage2 . '", "' . $v_products_bsubimage2 . '", "' . $v_products_subimage3 . '", "' . $v_products_bsubimage3 . '", "' with this: $query .= " ' $v_products_mimage', '$v_products_bimage', ' $v_products_subimage1', '$v_products_bsubimage1', ' $v_products_subimage2', ' $v_products_bsubimage2', ' $v_products_subimage3', ' $v_products_bsubimage3',"; That took away the parse error. but now it gives me the TEP STOP error and wont complete my upload. is this not compatible with additional_mod?

    Ebay auction manager for OSCOMMERCE

im also using STS contribution and its not working for me. im itching to use this so i was playing around with it to see why auction_finder comes blank. well i found out that not only this file comes back blank, but also the other auction files that reside in the catalog/ directory. so the ebay sale contribution is not writing anything on my catalog pages. but on the admin side it works perfectly. i even tried to write a string of words together right under the <body> section in the auction files but not even that showed up. i also tried removing the <html><header>and<body> tags from the begining since STS already puts these in the files. anybody using STS contribution and works for them?
