I have a website using OSC. I use paypal ipn module. I should mention that i have not set up any security (ssl) or anything on my server. And i didnt make any changes to the default installation of paypal ipn in oscommerce (just added the paypal email address in the setting in admin). The ipns always fail - the orders go to the paypal account but i have to manually change the order status in admin. Paypal write to me and say as my ipns always fail - they will disable ipns from my paypal account. What does this mean? Does this mean that i wont be able to use osc with my pp account? I didnt set up any secure server stuff and dont understand about certificates and ssl. Why doest the ipn work? At the moment the customers are still paying in paypal but when i go to admin customers orders they are all sticking on preparing paypal ipn. Someone mentioned something called open ssl, or do i need to buy a security certificate from my web host? I really dont understand the SSL / Security. To be honest i dont want to use SSL on my site, i am satisfied my customers enter their credit card info onto paypal and the rest of the information is sent insecurely. However I do need to this IPN thing to work or paypal are threatening to disable it from my account. Thanks

Hi Its really confusing to see what items i am selling. I go into customers/orders and i can see their name and how much they paid. It would be very useful if I could see at a glance on the main customers/orders page in admin, what things they have been ordering. So where i see their name / date purchase / order status - i could see the name of the product (not the product number). Is there a way to add this in? Thanks

Hi I am not really interested in the reports. I thought there is a way to get this to mail customers automatically if a sale does not go through (they back out before going to paypal). Ideally if they dont pay within 20 mins they get an email with a link back to the cart. How do I do this? Do I need SSL certificate? Also I have had problems with PayPal IPN, never managed to make it work properly. It is always stuck on preparing IPN even when the sale goes through to PayPal. Do I need to turn something on in PayPal? Thanks

HI I have never been able to get paypal ipn to work properly. I have latest version. It never updates, and never has - even on other sites I have made. I have not turned on IPN in PayPal itself, I am told it isnt necessary. Should I try anyway? And which URL to use? Another thing, when I installed with fantastico it seems to already have recover cart sales installed. I know this does reports for you, but isnt there a way to get it to email the customers automatically? This is another thing I have tried to get working but failed! I dont have SSL by the way - does it make a difference? Thanks

There is a thread with people having similar problem to me. The thread is really very hard to follow. I hope someone might make a new thread or break it down a bit. Here is my problem: I closed down one osc site. I copied the data base to a new site (restored the databse through osc admin) I am using the same PayPal account as with the old site. I have installed PayPal ipn 2.3 contribution. When i go through the checkout process and get to the PayPal page it tells me that the invoice has already been paid (PayPal error). How should i solve this? Is there a simple solution? My ipn install is in a folder /ext but from the other thread people seem to have it installed in modules - i dont understand. What code should i change? Should i delete the old orders (from old site) from the database? Would that help, how do i do that? Thanks
