2.3.4 - Recommendation for Payment Processor

Depending on sales volume, you may find Braintree (a paypal company) will do what you need. Been using it for years on a modified 2.3.4 system without problem. Does not send the customer to a separate website to pay, integrates in the checkout_confirmation.php page. Think they refer to it as a "drop in." Presents as an app like Paypal does. Has it's own tab on admin/orders.php when looking at an individual order that was paid using Braintree.

    General thoughts about Add-On's

osCommerce-Official Posted Tuesday at 11:58 AM We were able to restore access to the old osCommerce 2.x modules. They are located here: https://old.oscommerce.com/ They will be TEMPORARILY available in the read-only mode on this URL.

20 reasons to switch to osCommerce. Reason 1 - Control

So, you are saying that there are people currently working at osCommerce-Official who were involved in the original version of osCommerce?

How to process payments via payoneer

New owners of osCommerce name no longer allow any apps or addon for old versions on oscommerce.com. They took them off the website and said they would restore, has not happened in months. Can only assume they will not be restored. They have their reasons but I think very few actual users of osCommerce agree.

New owners of osCommerce decided you we should not be able to access them.

osCommerce site and Forums update notice

Appreciate that at minimum the v2x app files will be available via FTP. If osC admin is not willing to allow the complete v2.x apps section of their website to stay alive, why not allow someone else to take over the apps website as it was using a different server and domain name? As Hotclutch mentioned, it is not just the app files, there was important information about changes to those apps. It is understandable that osC admin does not approve of using osC 2.x, but I fail to understand why osC admin has/will eliminate what has been built by the community over so many years? Many of those apps will run on updated and community osC 2.x systems that do run fine on modern server software. It is hard to trust companies that do not support their old products, even if those products are obsolete. I use old computers. I use old cell phones. I use old cars. The stairway in our home is obsolete and would not pass building code today, we still use it. I use old IP cameras, I understand there are risks when using obsolete products. I have no expectation that support by osC admin would be active, archives are fine. A FTP site is not a good archive unless it will contain all descriptive text that went along with the files, all versions of the files, and is searchable so people can find what they need, as the old apps section was.
  9. Very much appreciated Tom. phpMyAdmin is easy for me The most important thing people should remember if they edit the database (or any file) is to download a backup first!

I do hope that the archive of apps is made available again someway, sometime soon. I was caught by surprise by the disappearance. I do like the version of osC I am using, it is working to my satisfaction. I did try a beta install of v4 and found it complicated. Understanding that it is dated, I like the simplicity of osC 2.3.4, it is not stuffed with things I will never need. I would like to update/add a few things and now can not do that. I think it may be a good thing if the new owners would allow the archive be hosted separately, as rainton (thank you) is suggesting. I understand the new owner's claim to the right to do as they wish with this website since they apparently gave money for the osCommerce name. I do think it would be considerant of them to have offered access to the old system that so many people have put their time and effort into without asking for payment. I don't think those people were aware that someone owns their work given the openness that this website has had in the past. But, this is the way things often are. Far too many companies do not support old products in any way, or even keep documentation of old products available even though the products are still in use.
  11. Oops, I made a mistake. I may be running an older version of USPS Rate V4 and was intending to check if it should be updated. I see "ver R3.3" on my installed version, running osC v2.3.4. If 3.3 is not the latest USPS version, would someone be so kind as to post the latest download here? I noticed that this, and all the other apps, are gone. http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/8327 redirected to https://www.oscommerce.com/info/8327, returned a cert error and then page not found. If you can help, please post here or message me. Was also going to install UPS soon but did not get there in time. Thank you!

    osCommerce v4 Beta 2

I receive a 500 error every time I have installed. Looked in Metrics>Errors on cPanel and read: .... SoftException in Application.cpp:267: File "/home/ice/public_html/v4osCtest/index.php" is writeable by group Can't say I know what Application.cpp:276 is. I changed permissions on index.php from 664 to 644 and the install worked after that.

Installation osCommerce v4 Beta 2 - No Admin Page

An issue someone may run into is not enough storage space on a shared server. My first install failed due to this. The installed package with sample products on my shared server is 451MB.

Installation osCommerce v4 Beta 2 - No Admin Page

Thank you Hotclutch. I did not enter the same folder name (test in your example) but did enter a name (/shop) thinking the store would be located at /test/shop. Just re-installed leaving the install location as is and it appears to be working now. Also, it does not load painfully slow as the failed install did. I did get the 404 error message while installing. PHP-Version 7.4.27
