  1. Hi Jack, Will Ultimate SEO V 2.2d work with OSCommerce v 2.3.1? Or is there another contribution of Ultimate SEO URLs for OSCommerce v 2.3.1? Thanks. JTM

How do I revise the OSCommerce URL?

Thank you. But I was looking for the users to ask for "http://www.mydomain.com/catalog/my-best-product-p-123.html" and in return being redirected to "http://www.mydomain.com/my-best-product-p-123.html".
  3. Hi I have a new install with Ultimate SEO contrib added. Everything is working fine. I am looking to further modify the way a URL is displayed. For e.g., I have my OSC installed with a /catalog directory. So my URLs look like (example): "http://www.mydomain.com/catalog/my-best-product-p-123.html" I would like to remove /catalog from the URL address so that the above URL could read like: "http://www.mydomain.com/my-best-product-p-123.html" Is this possible at all with a htaccess Rewrite / Redirect / Other? Thank you. JTM

  5. Jack, I have set up rewrite on in the /catalog/.htaccess file as per the Ultimate SEO contribution. The Ultimate SEO contribution was installed successfully. So the new URLs are seen as expected. I don't have the contribution Google Sitemap creator or Google feeder. So let me rephrase the question. If the sitemap.xml file has the URLs listed in the older format (the format being the one prior to installing Ultimate SEO), when Google bot is redirected due to a rewrite (after installing Ultimate SEO), will Google bot take the resulting rewritten URL and index the rewritten URL? In other words, after implementing the contribution Ultimate SEO, if my sitemap remained unchanged what will Google's index have as the URL entry? Thanks for your help.
  6. Hi, I have question on how my site map should be set up for Google after implementing ULTIMATE SEO. Should the sitemap.xml file have URLs with the old URL address such as www.xyzdomain.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=777 OR Should the sitemap.xml file have URLs with the new URL address such as www.xyzdomain.com/catalog/abc-nice-product-p-777.html I think that having the old URL should be OK as this contribution redirects any queries for the old URL to the new one. Therefore, if I was to define the sitemap.xml for Google with the old URL address, what gets stored in the Google index - the old URL address or the new one that Google Bot was redirected to? I hope I am asking my question clearly. Any input would be great...Thanks.
  7. Thanks for the reply Jack. Another question is regarding the use of special characters. We have products where the product name has a number like for e.g. 15.4 as part of its name. When Ultimate_SEO_URLSv22d_9 was installed, the URL rewrites converted as follows: a) The character . was removed as a result of the rewrite and 15.4 was rewritten as 154 - This creates a problem as searches on the web involve using 15.4 as part of the keyword, as it is a product spec. I tried setting a special character conversion to resolve this. The special character conversion was written as .=>. But no luck. Even after introducing the special character conversion, the period does not show up in the rewritten URL. Any suggestions on how to get around this? Here is an example: Product name: ABC Case 15.4 inches URL before rewrite: www.mydomain.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=7705 URL after rewrite: www.mydomain.com/catalog/abc-case-154-inches.html What I would like the URL to be rewritten as: www.mydomain.com/catalog/abc-case-15.4-inches.html Thanks. JTM
  8. Hi, I have successfully installed Ultimate_SEO_URLSv22d_9-2 released Mar 23 2010. When the rewrites happen, I notice that the product id number gets added to the product name, the category id gets added to the category name, etc. <b>Product example:</b> www.mydomain.com/catalog/product-ice-blue-p-1002.html <b>Category example:</b> www.mydomain.com/catalog/category-c-12.html I am not sure if the product id number and the category id number adds any value for SEO purposes other than the fact that it distinguishes 2 products with identical names (as their product id's are different) or 2 categories with identical names (as their category id's are different). But since all the products and categories I deal with in my store are unique in their naming convention, how can I remove these product id's and category id's from the rewritten URL. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thank you. JTM
  9. I have problems when testing the Authorize.net AIM contribution in the "TEST" mode. My Authorize.net account and the AIM module are set in the TEST mode. a) I conducted a test with all data on a credit card being correct except the CCV number. The transaction was approved by Authorize.net in the test mode. Why did this happen? I expected that the transaction would not be approved by Authorize.net. The settings for CCV in Authorize.net are set correctly. b) Why is it that I am unable to see any unsettled transactions in the TEST mode for those transactions that were approved by Authorize.net? If any of you have suggestions to correct these, please let me know. Thanks. JTM
  10. Hello. I am new to this forum and OSC in general and a novice at installing contributions. I am trying to install the MVS 1.1 configuration on a live store. I am running the store on a linux server and the version of OSC installed is MS2.2. Prior to installation of MVS 1.1, I would like to backup my entire store and the underlying database to a development environment. It is in this dev. env. that I would like to install MVS 1.1 and test it out prior to going live with it. So I did the following - Copied my entire /shop directory (this is my catalog) to a new directory called /shop_dev. However, this new development environment i.e. the /shop_dev directory: a) Points to the database in the live store. b) Has the Admin Panel for configuration etc., still pointing to the /shop directory - the live production environment. How do I change this to have a) the /shop_dev directory point to a copy of the database created for the development environment. (I will create a copy using PHPMyAdmin) and b) Have the Admin Panel manage the /shop_dev environment. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thank you much. JTM
