    Jssor Slider

    Thanks for mentioning this. The way I did it was place my javascript within code to wait for the script to load. It's in the module so there's not any changes to the core files. window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', function() { //script goes here });

You don't have anything set in it. In the least the first two settings are needed, though there are others.

It shouldn't cause a problem with other code, that I can think of. But it is not the correct change since it will break should you ever update the core files. See my Message Box addon for the code change to allow it to work without changing the core files.

I haven't tried it in Phoenix but my guess is that it is because the main javascript include is loaded in the footer in Phoenix, where it was loaded in the header in BS3. That means the javascript in this addon doesn't have the defines it needs.

What to do with .com and .co.uk

Pointing it to the .com site just does that. It won't gain you anything other than making sure anyone using that domain name ends up on the other one and you prevent a competitor from using it. Having the .co.uk point to .com may be useful for UK searches since google UK will return those due to location. Creating an information site can be useful for SEO purposes, if done correctly. You can use a link from it to the .com site, or vice versa. But not both if you end up with a duplicate site since google may punish for that. But don't expect anything useful from the search engines right away. They will usually delay ranking for many months to insure the site is real. Otherwise you could create a hundred shops today and point them all to one site in an attempt to help that site. But I think having a different site with a similar name might be confusing to your visitors. They may type in .co.uk by mistake and see that you don't have products and assume the site is no longer available for products. So you would want to make it clear the sites are related. Personally, I think the name is too similar to the original to be anything other than a pointer to the original. One exception might be if you want to target your UK visitors differently, like giving them a discount or location-specific options. The .co.uk site will generally be returned to UK searchers for the same search term over the .com, though that assumes the pages are setup for the same keywords.

The shop is controlled by the configure.php file located in the includes directory (there is also one in admin). When you copy the files to a new location, you have to change the entries in the configure file to point to that location. You don't need to re-install the shop, unless you just want to or if you don't feel comfortable editing that file. If you can edit the file but run into problems, post it here (minus the lines at the bottom that have the login details) and someone will take a look.

    Basic Site Install Required

Oops, didn't see that. This has happened before where an old thread pops up. Must be a problem with the forum package.

    Basic Site Install Required

@xenonstoreI think, from your post, that you are not using the latest version of oscommerce since there aren't many free templates for it, if any. You should be using this version. I'll email you a few suggestions. You can also request a quote from here.

    Auto Update Currencies

Check your cron job and make sure there isn't anything after the the .php and that your email address is set for cron. Then run it and you should get a message from cron showing why it failed. The previous code change should be changed back but you may want to see what the message says both ways.
  10. If your shop offers more than one currency, you need this contribution. With excahnge rates changing daily, at times, it is important to keep them up-to-date. Many, if not most, shop owners are not aware that this needs to be done. This contribution can be ran as a cron job or semi-automatically and will handle the updates for you. The existing Update Currencies contribution uses an external site that has changed their policy which means the updates may not always work. It also uses code that will prevent cron jobs from working on all servers. This contribution uses changed code and the same sites that oscommerce has always used so those problems should not occur. You're welcome and I appreciate the kind words. :)

This addon provides a quick way to display messages in the header of a Bootstrap shop. It is a vert simple installation.

    Message Box

I'll try to get an update within the month. If there are other addons that are used, it is best to post the message in the support thread for it. I don't have time to run through all of my addons so, initially, I will only be doing the ones I or my clients use or when there is a request like yours.

    Message Box

I think interest in it is high so I suspect addons will be converted more quickly than with the VS3 version. At least, I hope so. :)

    Message Box

A new version has been uploaded with these changes: Added code to automatically handle all languages so it is now possible to have a different message for each language. Added code to allow messages to be loaded from the Information Pages SEO addon Just use INP_X, where X is the message ID. Added an entry for the message text class so the font color can be changed. Added an entry for the message text class so the font background color can be changed. Added an option to allow the messages to be displayed in a box, as before, or in a circle. Changed the code to use a textarea for the messages. Changed the code to make it compatible with Phoenix. Moved the css to the template file.

    Fake accounts

I appreciate the thought but I didn't think that was the case. :) When a page on the site is visited, the name of the file is displayed in url so how would changing the name help? Initially the scripts would fail since they are looking for create_account.php but they most likely use link checkers to search for all pages with forms so I doubt it would work for long.

    Instant Discount

Instant Discount is meant to grab impulse buyers. When a visitor arrives at your site by clicking on a product link in a search engine listing, a dialog will appear saying that he will get a discount if the item is purchased within a certain amount of time. The discount amount, how long the offer is good for and various other things are controlled by settings in admin. This addon is written for the CE version. It may work in BS 4 since little is displayed outside of the addon files. It also may work with the official 2.3.4 version. It won't hurt anything in any shop since it can be completely turned off or used in text mode.

    Header Tags SEO

Thanks but oscommerce won't run past 7.2, not even on 7.2 without changes, so using a 7.3 function is not of much use. I'm not familiar with a compatibility mode but I doubt it makes things compatible with php 5.4, which I still support since many of my clients have old shops. It's easy enough to write my own, of course, but I can't remember to check what is being counted I doubt I would remember to call a new function. :)

    Header Tags SEO

This is the support thread for the new Header Tags SEO contribution. It is based on the Header Tags Controller but is not compatible. Why the new name? There are a couple of reasons for this. First, so much has changed in the code that it is mostly a different package and maintaining it would be difficult if it were considered just an update. But beyond that, a lot of people mistakenly confuse the Header Tags Controller as just a meta tags handler. It is that but has gone beyond that basic function for some time now. So to compare it to the other meta tags contributions is just wrong. And I should say here that if all you are looking for is a way to handle the meta tags of your shop, you should not install this contribution since it is definitely overkill. But when you consider that the keywords meta tag is rarely used by google at all nowadays, I can't imagine why someone would want to install a package that relied on that tag so much. And that is the real reason for the new name. This contribution is the only one of its kind to tie together so many Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tricks, that the new namejust made sense. What's the difference? The following are the major changes (or the ones I could remember) in this new contribution: -> The code is 100% langage compliant. -> Removed the english/header_tags.php file in favor of database entries. -> Fixed a bug introduced in a previous version. A spelling mistake would make Page Control fail in some cases. I only mention this here because it was a nasty little bug I could never locate. So anyone having that problem should consider upgrading. -> Added control options to admin->Configuration. -> Added additional meta tag options. It is doubtful these will be used that much but a number of requests were received for this option so it was added. -> Added an option to view the title and meta tags on the actual web page from admin. -> Added Social Bookmark code. -> Added code to apply mouseover text to the sites logo - unique for each page. -> Added code to have the breadcrumb use the header tags titles. -> Added an exclude list in admin/includes/functions/header_tags.php that prevents header tags code from being added to certain files (like checkout pages). This is because those pages don't need tags and excluding them will simplify matters. -> Added option to Page Control and Fill Tags so that the keywords can be dynamically generated from the pages on the site. Currently, the code only supports single keywords but I plan on changing that. There is an option in admin to only pick keywords that fall within the keyword density settings. -> Added an automatic page add feature. You still have to edit the actual file in the root but that's all. -> Added easy install instruction for STS shops. There is just one change to make and the two contribution work together. -> Added code to have the new features work with BTS based shops. There may be a few cases where an option doesn't work due to how BTS handles the files, but they should be minimal and not anything to cause a great stir. -> Changed how title, description and keywords are built. This should provide more flexibility for those that want that option. Each item has a sort order and is displayed in the string of text based on that sort order. So, for example, the title of a page can contain some entered text, the default title and the category and manufacturers names (if applicable), in any order. -> Added an Un-Install file to completely remove Header Tags from the database. This should make testing and troubleshooting easier. -> Added code to use curl instead of standard php file calls. The code will try curl first and then switch to a file command if it is not present. -> Tested in MS2, RC2, STS and BTS shops. Special thanks to the following for their suggestions: bkellum java roasters surfalot A lot of time went into creating this contribuiton. I hope it proves useful. Jack

    Header Tags SEO

Warnings like the above are probably in quite a few of the files. The last update was over three years ago and at that time, as I recall, php 5.6 was just starting to be widely used by oscommerce shop owners. I have fixed quite a few already but they are in the unreleased version. I do plan on releasing it but all I can say for now is that it will be sometime this year. But please, anyone, feel free to post problems you find.

    Header Tags SEO

Thank you for reporting this. The $existingFiles was changed to $existingInDB several versions ago but that one instance was missed. Changing it to $existingInDB should fix the issue.
  23. Google says not to try to block using the robots file (see the "You should not use robots.txt..."). Their reason for the robots change is that they are trying to establish a standard, which they will probably achieve. So we all need to start adjusting our thinking to be what they want. :(

    Hiding entire categories

Your version of oscommerce has parts of the index.php file in modules so you would have to find the code to change there. And even then, that addon is not coded for your version of oscommerce so there will be changed needed to make it compatible. It never was a simple install and converting it to work with your shop at the same time will be time-consuming, though it is possible.

    Undefined index:

You're mixing notices and errors. The former may not matter, depending upon the version of php but the latter is a must fix. You showed a notice in the first post so I assumed you were saying there was some other error. If you are referring to that notice, it is because the delete parameter isn't declared prior to being used. That can be added but as @MrPhilstated, you have to be sure it exists first. If it is an addon, please post a link to it.
