    [contribution] Simple Template System (sts)

Actually, just installed PWA without any problems on a test store and seems to be working ok so far with STS. But I guess what I really needed is a way to cut down on the amount of 'clicks' that occur in checkout. What are some opinions on the best Easy 1 or 2 Page checkout that works with STS? (and I guess, the PWA contrib too.)

    [contribution] Simple Template System (sts)

I've been using STS for a few years now, on about 3 stores. It works great and I love the contribution, one of the best out there IMHO. Our sites have been pretty heavily modified with about 14-15 or so contributions and all are working ok. However, I need to streamline the checkout process. Add a Purchase Without Account or Single Page checkout or something like that. I'm getting the feeling that customers that have to log in and create account are being lost in the shuffle and not completing the checkout process. So, my question is this. Which is the best, compatible single page or purchase without having to create an account checkout process to use with STS? I'm thinking PWA (Purchase Without Account) as some of the other ones seem to either not work with STS or have a lot of bugs, etc. Anybody use a quick checkout, single page checkout or purchase without account contribution with success and minimal troubles with STS? I'd greatly appreciate your response(s)! Thanks, Rich

    Individual shipping rates

I'm using Individual Product Shipping (indvship 1.2) contribution. Works fine. You assign a dollar value to each product for the shipping price. The only thing about it is, if they order many different products in one order, shipping can get sorta high... We usually reimburse them for some of the shipping if this happens, but there's gotta be a better way.

    STS is place of shit.

Actually, STS is one of the best contributions i've come across. Installed it about a day after I installed osCommerce for the first time, then I proceeded to install it on my other stores, and each store that i've created afterwards. Love it. Seems like the OP, if I can understand correctly, is pissed because it didn't come with any pre-made templates for him to use. Oh well, I guess there's some really, really lazy people out there. I'm surprised he had enough energy to actually install it.

STS Doesn't allow box width change

If you're using STS then you should be changing the width in your layout template.

    Favicon tips tricks, ect...

What you need to do is create a 16 x 16 pixel graphic then decrease the color depth in photoshop to 16 colors. Save as a .gif with the name favicon then change the end of the filename to .ico in the finder so the filename is favicon.ico. Upload it to the root on your FTP site where the index page is. Add the following code to your page after any meta tags in the head section but before the closing </head> tag. <link REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="http://yoursitedotcom/favicon.ico"> I use the STS contribution, so the html is put in my template page. I created my favicon on my Mac, so I know it can be done. :)

    STS Template / Placeholder Problems.

Yes, the preview in Dreamweaver won't show you exactly what the page looks like graphically, only show you placeholders. What you need to do is publish the page/site to a server, then view it. Once you do that, then the placeholders will turn into the infoboxes.

    STS Template / Placeholder Problems.

Yes, definitely go thru the documentation. I actually printed it out when I was first starting and read it over a few times. Basically, all your info boxes will be a string where you can place wherever you want in you layout in Dreamweaver, or whatever html editor your using. For example you can put $cartbox# where you want the cartbox to be, $orderhistorybox# where you want the customer's orders to show in your layout, etc... And yes, you should be able to use your old database on the new site without any problems. Good luck!

    STS Template / Placeholder Problems.

The STS Template system will do what you are asking. Have you read the documentation that came with the contribution? Its pretty good and spells everything out for you.

    Favicon tips tricks, ect...

Favicon is just a gif image file at the appropriate size. Just save as gif then change the file type to .ico, upload to your server and make the changes in the html code. Dat's about it. No need for any plug-ins or special programs.

Looking for module to create "Addon items"

You can set it up as a product attribute then they can select +1 hour consultation or just the product itself. It will show up as a selection box where they get to pick what they want. Sorta like if you were selling clothes and wanted to offer different sizes or colors, etc.
  15. The more contributions you add, the more the original source code is modified, hence, in theory, it could get exceedingly more difficult to add more contributions in the future without messing something else up, etc... But, as long as you're careful and pay attention to what you're doing, there's no problem. I've got about 16-18 contributions on one site, including Ultimate SEO URL's and Header Tags and everything's working fine. The only thing you gotta be careful of is original source code that is changed (shared) by two or more contributions, then it can get tricky but its still possible.
