They probably thought that if you were adding the shipping module that you were using a production ready version, not one that the core wasn't finished on. I may be wrong but they may not think of it as an add-on since it comes with the basic install.

I don't ever recall that anyone specified where it needed to go. I would add it near the top. Here is a nice guide.

Hello!
Having v2.1d updated (and working fine) I need to add code to the htaccess to block a couple nasty IP's are spamming and one of which is even noted by Symentec as injecting viruses. The IP banning contribs do not exclude all the pages even though they pretend to with the addition in application-top.
So my question is, how to insert the code in the .htaccess file with all the rewrites. It seems to me that normally the code would be something like :
order allow,deny
deny from xx.xx.xx.xx
allow from all
But not being sure if that is the way nor how to place it I would love some advice.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Mandy
That is it.

Get more choices with this one

This looks like it may do what you want.
http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/818
here is a real old version.

I would use this one if your running an rc version.
http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/5743
If not use version 3.31 of the one your looking at. Then if you have any problems see if there was a fix posted for it. I did not have some of the problems that fixs were posted for.

For anyone who cares, v3.5.3 generates HTML that does not comply with the HTML 4.01 DTD (but neither does most of osC). V3.5.4, as all of my previous releases, will generate HTML that passes the W3C validator.

Will load it as soon as I can download it.

Bushmaster,
I didn't expect Glen to debug someone else's code.
I just downloaded latest version and posted version number and my results about this great contribution.
You suggested to change the code and I thank you for your help.
I didn't know that time that you were talking about older version.
I didn't ask Glen to make any changes, he made his post himself.
Thanks for help.
Ok lets back this up. I miss read your first post. The version you downloaded as 3.5.3 was not Glens. I see today He has updated his code with some fixs. When looking to add a contrib check the support thread to which one is giving the least trouble. For this one if Glen didn't upload it I wouldn't touch it unlees He thought it was a good fix. There is way to many people uploading things thinking there fixing it when they are not. Just like the sugested fix after the one I mentioned caused the program I use to give warnings for it so I never even tried to see if it would work. I stayed with what I found and did not get any warnings about.
Sorry if I came across sounding rude it was not the intent. To many long days this week

Change the code as shown in that post and it will fix your problem.
Find this code.
echo TEXT_SHOW_BOTS . ': <input type="checkbox" name="bots" value="show" onChange="this.form.submit();"' . ($HTTP_GET_VARS['bots'] == 'show' ? ' checked="checked"': '') . '>'; ?>
and change it to this.
echo TEXT_SHOW_BOTS . ': <input type="checkbox" name="bots" value="show" onclick="this.form.submit();"' . ($HTTP_GET_VARS['bots'] == 'show' ? ' checked="checked"': '') . '>'; ?>

You made an error in your config.php file.

Minimal requirement PHP 5.2.0, why?
in Core Development (Archive)
Posted
Quoted from here So why code for an obsolete version. If your host uses only RedHat and Redhat is going to keep you in the past I would say find another host. If Redhat can not mke there system work with PHP 5.2 that is there problem not oscommerce's problem. If you have a script that doesn't work with php 5.2 see if the maker has an update for it. Not upgrading by choice is one thing but being told you can't is another.
The PHP 5.3 is said to make 5.2 obsolete also.
