  1. there is also others that have not been posted to the addon section (as yet), eg, one that adds /manufacturer/ or /category/ name in the urls. Ken

my site is down and dont know what to do

generally speaking it should work with rc2a but you may come across a few errors all of which can be fixed though. dont use the one(s) posted in 2007, they appear to have been edited by a strange editor and all the files would be corrupted after FTP to the server. use the one posted in 2006 (April). Good Luck! Ken

    error with addon

this source of the error could be in the file event_drop_dns.php (/boxes/), which is called by the events_manager.php. try the following fix: find echo $box->menuBox($heading,''); (there are two occurances) replace it with: $content_array = array(); echo $box->menuBox($heading,$content_array); this is a php5 thing. my site is down and dont know what to do

in addition to all the above fixes, for the sake of getting rid of that particular error, you could try to add a test to the $navigation variable so that it looks like this: if (is_object($navigation)) { $navigation->add_current_page(); } the added object test is harmless, it got to be an object anyway. theres also some other fixes on the forums as far as i can remember. search google using the error (without the file path). Ken
  5. a better advice is tell the host to put your site on php5, or change host. most hosts by now offer php5 as standard and there is longer php4 as an option. i cant imagine what sort of hosts would still provide php4 by default. php.net has stopped supporting php4 for over a year now. Ken

    Fatal error: Class 'SEO_URL'

the error says loud and clear: you forgot to upload the seo.class.php to the server (includes/classes/) or you uploaded it to the wrong place. Ken
  7. the whole idea of having a dashboard showing the so called performance data in the seo class is pretty much useless nowadays. it was a good idea in 2005 when a typical server would have a p4 with 512mb memory, with today's hardware a 'net pc' that costs £100 could outperform or as good as a server in 2005. if you are running a serious business, then get you host that can provide a server thats as good as formula 1 racing car (in terms of server it translates to quad core cpus with say 12gb memory), and dont spend your time fixing this and that watch the dashboard on an old ordinary family car - it takes you to nowhere. Header Tags for novices

this contribution currently only focuses on the home page, categories and products which are the most important and common parts of an online store. it does not support directly the article manager although it can be added quite easily if necessary and your sites articles are important to you. but i dont have the time at the moment. the articles.php is very much like the index.php so you could try to add keywrods/description tags to it in a way similar to the index.php. the article_info.php is like the product_info.php. i think for you the code for checking if there is article or not is of no use and could be deleted. then the $article_info_query could be moved up to the top so as to make the author, article name and content available for both the meta tags contribution and the article itself. Ken
  9. that could be true but i was referring to "occasionally(depending on which version of seo urls class you use)" in my post. i am not a fan of chasing 'new' versions given the fact that what this thing does is simply transform urls from a riddle-like style to a human friendly urls by incorporating names in them - if its been working then for me there is no reason for upgrade, and it is working beautifully albeit a few mods have been made to a very early version of original seo urls such as auto-redirect (with about 10 lines of code) to new style name-based urls those riddle style urls that may have been cached/indexed by google. Ken
  10. the " -c-2.html has nothing to do with "add the category parent name to the beginning of the category URLs" has EVERYTHINGto do with "add the category parent name to the beginning of the category URLs" - just tesed it . as far as I guess, this one http://forums.oscomm...5-by-fwr-media/ like many of this guys "solutions" an over the top one (creating somn non existing problem and then trying to solve it) and NOT appropriate to post on a thread that is devoted to another seo urls addon. Ken
  11. generally speaking there is no difference upgrading to oscrc2a and/pr php5/mysql5 as far as the seo urls addon you mentioned in your post is concerned. occasionally(depending on which version of seo urls class you use) you could try to set to false "add the category parent name to the beginning of the category URLs" as a quick fix. do not forget to reset cache in admin - seo urls. there is a will there is a way. but would it be worth the effort? if there are quite a few products on the invoice then the problem it creates could be more than it solves. Ken

    Header Tags for novices

I dont know those you installed slthou they sound rathher useless to me. to determine whether your header section has been bypassed (like many template systems do), change this <title><?php echo ((strlen($categories['categories_name']) > 1) || (strlen($manufacturers['manufacturers_name']) > 1)) ? $header_tags['products_name'] . ' - ' . $breadcrumb_tags->trail_tags(' ') . ' - ' . TITLE : TITLE; ?> </title> to: <title><?php echo "not a template if you see this at top of the browser"; ?> for a new site it would take up to 6 months to get google to index your site, ie, make it searchable. but you are right to start the basic seo work from the very beginning. and dont forget a good google sitemap and googlebase data feed both of which would need to be usibg the same style of urls. this line does suggest you seem to be using a template: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<? echo THEMA_STYLE;?>"> this contrib is very straightforward and the only reason why it fails to do what it supposes to is the site is using a template (which will require a special, template-depending way of adding the contrib) unless there is something wrong in the installation which does not look like in your case. Note that the contrib wont make your site appear on google search over-night so do nto serach google for proof of whether it is working ot not. you can look at the page source to tell whether the installation/contrib works the way you would like it to. i can only help you as much as you can help yourself. 1. are you using a template system? 2. post here the meta tags code including title tag, description tag and keywords tag you added to product_info.php (do NOT post the entire file). Ken
  17. seem this board going out of control? why i got two posts?
  18. deleted. wrong post to answer to.

    Sage Pay Form V1.1

in that case, i would like to remain you albeit too late that the first golden rule of running an online shop is to find a host that knows what they are doing better still specialies in osc in this case. an osc specialist knows 100 times better than an ordinary host whose main business is running a server nothing more. an online shop in many ways is different from an ordinary website. sorry not to be able to offer any specific help or suggestion as this would depend on the seeing the site not just beat about the bush. Sage Pay Form V1.1

whats the point of having a test site and doing tests on it if its different in any way from the live site (apart from the url)? i am afraid this is amateur way of doing things - waste of time. Ken

    Sage Pay Form V1.1

i have just tested - it took me 1bout 5 minutes to download the sage form, install it then run a test on sage pay test server (similator wont work for the details given). as I always say, there is absolutely no problem whatsoever: order went thorugh to sage pay server, and after process returned back to the checkout success page, order was logged in admin - orders. see screenshots: I can say after the test that this new sage form is an excellent piece of work. to those who are using a template (whatever template), what i could say is, there is a will (template) there is a way. i have no interest to find out what the template is or where its from, i am only interested in "reverse engineering" to trace to the very source of the problem and find a solution, which, yes, would be different from template to template as shown in the past and the most recent one. if you like the contribution then dont give up. pdf invoices for admin only

if your logo quality is good and is not the same size as the original oscommerce.png but shows up in the invoice not as the original size, ie, bigger, then try to change line 104: $size[0]*PDF_INV_IMG_CORRECTION which is width, and $size[1]*PDF_INV_IMG_CORRECTION which is height, to a number that reflects your logo size. i am not sure what the unit of size there would be, but it seems to be, eg, for 100px you would enter 25. try different number to see which one fits.
