add a dash before the title in the title tag. Ken

logically (and normally), stock level has nothing to do with the title tag, unless you have done some extraordinary (but wrongly or unnecessary) changes to your site. if you want to show out of stock products you would only need to set check stock level to false in admin rather than being keen to show you are capable to spend time changing code in the two files of application top and product info. its entirely up to you to decide what is more important. if you are selling unique products then product name may be important, otherwise visitor may be searching for more general keywords, ie, category names. i dont believe the so called seo expert, there is only seo common sense. or if you have money you can surely bribe google to get notice and in this case you are the expert otherwise whatever you do would get google notice is everyone' guess. in googles eye money is not evil as it declares it does not do evil. Ken ps. the contribution has some changes ever since along with the late chemo USURL but havent got the time to put them together and make it available.

this contribution does NOT change urls. if you also want to change urls, you should install ultimate seo urls by chemo updated by Jack, in addition to this contribution. ken

i dont know. but if you browse each product url and it doesn't show the unwanted "keywords" in the meta tags, then the problem is with the googlebase.php. one way to find out is to look at your google sitemaps (try a few product urls) as it doesn't add any extra to the meta tags. Ken

basically, you need to make sure the test site works, eg, theres at least one category and one product (more would be good) but thats not the case when i checked it a couple of hrs ago. any way, you could try spoof's suggestion and mod (in the application_top.php) to see if that solves your rpoblem. pls make sure the test site actually works. a quick look found that the configure.php files refer to another site. i dont have much time so you'd test it (the url etc) before handing it to me. i am not suppose to fix other issues eg the configure.php and db connection. Ken

no, you dont have to install osc unless you choose to (which will generate the correct configure.php files but you need to make sure you dont over write them when copying over the files from the live site). you can simply copy all files from live site to the test site, then make changes to the configure.php files accordingly. you can set up a test site that can show the same issue, then send me via pm the FTP details. I dont mind to take a few minutes to look at it, as I am curious why it behaves so strangely or in such a funny way. btw your site is in french so i guess you are in france. i am in france as well at the moment. this is obviously a case that you overlook one or two steps of the installation instructions. double check installation and pay attention to (copied) files locations. Ken

No, php version is not the problem altho i have no idea what happens to your site until actually looking at it. Ken

the point here is, meta tags do not take html tags, eg, can you colour, say, your title to red using style something like <title style="color:red"> or any other form? you can't (well, i dont bother to test it). check it out on w3c html standards, or run your page with w3c validator and i guess it would flag it as errors. and thats why they are useless/meaningless. or if you prove you can, then that'd be a great discovery! the h1/h2 tags, according to some, is to tell search engines how important a certain part of content would be in between these h1/h2 tags so that, hopefully, they take notice. but i guess they just ignore them if you put them in the header. the code you posted above should not generate double title. make sure the file on server is actually using the code shown above. Ken

i was referring to the h1/h2 tag. Ken ps: i clicked reply but somehow the mouse touched the + sign instead so that gave 1 positive point and theres no way to correct it.

1st, read and follow the installation instructions carefully; 2nd, post your site url so that it could be examined. I am at the mo commit to other things so dont come here as often, and every time there is an upgrade it kills the setting ie it no longer sends me a notice that someone has posted a question to this forum/this contribution. the contribution can be further modified to suit anyone's needs. and dont send me emails as they are unlikely read or replied. hello johanv i dont think the meta tags would have anything to do with stock level. as a test, i set the stock level/quantity to zero for Logitech IntelliMouse Pro on my demo site and it shows the meta tag as usual. append osc22rc2a to my 'home' page to see it yourself. Ken

its not been tested on MVS so sorry dont know whats the problem. I wish i had the time to look into it. Ken
  21. u seo urls works OK with whatever markup standard you use (append oscxhtml10strict to my home page to see example of xhtml1.0 strict with seo urls). but i dont know the seo urls version you are using as I still use mine which is based on the last version posted in june 2005. since it works i never see a reason for "upgrade". seo urls is a simple thing that does not need a complicated or over the top solution. in fact ive removed a lot of code from the seo class this way to make the maintenance of the code easier. Ken
  22. everytime i feel sorry for people who dont know how important it would be to choose a host. mod rewrite should be installed by default on the server for a good host who knows what they are doing, or you have no idea what else may be missing until you hit a brick wall. Ken
  23. Hi Jim you are right there was a 'glitch' there which is due to a mod I made to the application_top.php (for testing purpose but forgot to restore). After looking at the notification code & the log in code, it should in fact return to the product info page otherwise the product id may disappear, which results in notification not being added to the account. Now, it should work as intented. Ken
  24. Hi Jim If you like you can test it yourself on one my demo sites (just append osc22rc2a to the end of my home page). Ken
  25. not on my test using my version of u seo urls, which is very much based on the version posted in 2005. after logging in, it take to the home page with the product notification in question added to my test account, which can be seen when clicking on my account. Ken
