I would like to be proven wrong about that too. i'm not sure what you are refering to about not being able to use STS with an index.html in the root directory. Have you tried it? As far as STS not supporting an index.php.html template without creating separate templates for all other pages. I know that is kinda of a pain - especially since there is no clear mention of it in the documentation. It would also be handy to have a list of all the necessary templates (default catalog file names) that one would have to create if they choose to use an index.php.html.

I already responded to hayesb2 personal message request, but thought it best to share it with the community. If you create an index.php.html template then you HAVE TO create a template for every catalog page in your site. The other solution is to create an index.html file. The only concern with this is that certain links inside various php files, such as those associated with the "Continue" button, will take you directly to index.php. The quick work around i came up with, is to place a redirect inside index.php to go to index.html. If I could have found a place to globally change the links to index.php and point them to index.html I would have. If you are interested in the redirect you should place it at the top of the "else" statement inside index.php that has to do with displaying the default page - i.e. the home page. Around line 283 find: <?php } else { // default page ?> change to: <?php } else { // default page //AC_MOD tep_redirect(tep_href_link('index.html')); ?>

I have spent the longest time trying to get HTC and STS to play nice - and I keep coming back to a similar problem. I've got the header information for the main and category pages coming from the templates, not from header tags controller - tis good. The problem with this is that header info for every product page in my catalog is blank - it is not retrieving them from the database. If you'd like to look at my live store, its at http://www.goodkarmaflags.com thank you kindly

Boy I appreciate you sticking with me on this one. None of the functions in the HTC Text Control work for the pages (they are all red) because we were told not to do the catalog php file modifications to HTC if we have STS. If I do those modifications for index.php, for example, it works and draws the header info from templates (index_0, etc)- go figure? The problem now that it is not bringing in the fields that HTC populated for the products so that I can't have a page title that matches my product name. Even if I go back to an unmodified index.php. The wierd thing is that right after I installed HTC (and all the pages were red). I populated the HTC product fields and it was successfully generating the product page titles. Now I can't get it to behave that way again. Is there a file I can delete or restore that would give me the initial settings for HTC? Any other ideas for this in general? PS: I am using product info and content templates thxs

Regarding STS and HTC.... Can anyone help please? My understanding is that STS will insert the header content of the template and override HTC. It is not pulling header info (<!--$headcontent-->) from my templates at all - Am i missing an obvious step or piece of knowledge? Thxs

Thanks teniemi - i confirmed this as well having to go back through the install process again and the same error popping up. Is there any official reference to the fix you mentioned above? I didn't see it the 4.07 to 4.1 update section of the 4.1 install.html, and all we were told to do is replace application_bottom yet no application_bottom file was provided. i guess we were supposed to get that file from the base OSC install package. Perhaps Bill or Rigadin can update 4.1 install in the contrib section so other 4.07 upgraders don't have this same problem. cheers

aloha Bill, I did that and it still does the same. Allow me to be a bit more specific. For the page title of my catalog home page (index.php_0.html) all i get is "- osCommerce :". For my category product listings I get the category name followed by osCommerce ex. "Vertical Streamers - osCommerce :" For my individual products I get the correct page title ex. "Nirvana Streamer" I am using product info/content templates specific to each category, a template for the catalog home page and the default template for everything else - including category product listings and my secondary pages, such as shipping.php, which also only get "- osCommerce :"). Any ideas? - thanks for all your help, it really has made a difference over here! :D

teniemi, I'm not sure your problem is the same as mine, since I had nothing referencing line 52 and i didn't get all that stuff after Call Stack. I think Bill's suggestion about duplicate files was correct in my case, it seems I had a duplicate file in my admin dir - also in catalog. After I cleaned it up works fine now - except am I supposed to get the text "- osCommerce:" appearing at the end of my page titles or for the entire page title?

Yet another HTC installer in distress, OK I know i could start my HTC install all over from scratch, but it takes too dang long to find and replace code for the admin files. So I thought i would just try and ask if anyone has insights into the following error: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare tep_get_category_tree() (previously declared in /home/robbie/goodkarmaflags-www/catalog/includes/modules/sts_inc/sts_user_code.php:33) in /home/robbie/goodkarmaflags-www/catalog/includes/modules/sts_inc/sts_user_code.php on line 33 thanxs

Bill, Hey trooper - thanks for the help amidst your recovery. I know about painkillers having that devil may care mind numbing effect - get well soon. I'll spend some more time searching the main forum for a solution to the "Continue" button. Basically I am refering to the "Continue" that appears at the bottom of Shipping & Returns, Conditions of Use, etc. and even the shopping cart when it is empty. in all these cases clicking Continue takes you to "index.php". I would like to go to index.html - I'll probably have to change it in each php file - shouldn't be too hard.

Bill, Thank you so much for getting back to me. Yes if I put an index.html in my root it is the page that shows up when you enter the site. However if you click the "Continue" buttons, on several of the pages, it takes you to index.php - hence my problem. As far as having to create separate templates for every page in the site (if I make an index.php.html template) - that seems like overkill to me. Although I have several years experience in 4GLs and relational databases, this is my first OSC store, and I am trying to create as elegant of an approach as possible to meet most of the forseen needs of future stores. Based on my research I decided to have my base functionality embodied in OSC/STS/PageHeader and attempt to handle other mods by editing php directly. Since I am hesitant to want to create separate templates for every page, I am leaning toward modifying the php code behind the "Continue" buttons to point to index.html instead of index.php. Do you know of an easy way of globally changing the continue buttons to go to index.html? Are there other buttons/links that reference index.php and need to be changed too? Mucho mahalos, PS - wouldn't it be better if the Continue button was a bit smarter? Instead of always going back to index.php it would go to the last product listing or what ever else is most relavent.

Anyone PLEASE - Am I hallucinating here or is it just not possible to create a unique template only for index.php. - site home page. If I create a template called index.php.html with the index module turned on then every page on the site automatically gets index.php.html formatting. Yes index.php_0.html works for the catalog(catagories) home page but how would I handle the site home page? please help me - I'm melting  ...

Greetings fellow STSers - (I recently posted the following in the old STS plus forum an then read about this new forum - so here it is) I've sucessfully utilitized pretty much all of the template features in STS plus, including the recent addition for handling product_info templates specific to given category - works great by the way - thanks Rigadin. However, I can not create a unique template specific to index.php (site home page). This does not seem to be a feature of STS or STS plus or have I missed something obvious here? In my attempts, I have manually edited the index.php code to include a separate(non-template) html file that displays only for the home page. But with STS active my html file occurs at the $content# placeholder along with the rest of the default template and I don't want the template, just the content(separate html file). If I could suppress STS only for index.php(home) display my prayers would be answered.... or does anybody have other strategies that I might employ here? thxs
